He went from a shy kid to an arrogant human being. Controlling of the band he thought he could replace with any instrumentalists. I think he had (a) Foolish Heart and Oh Sherrie (of whom he was callous to) that became popular, but after that...nothing. So, the talent of every member of Journey MADE Journey a legend

We all get overwhlemed at times and while success is important, your well-being and health is even more important. These people are humans just like us and they are not perfect they make mistakes they have their vices they have their good and bad. Its unfortunate that they couldnt stay together but man do we have some timeless and extraordinary records that they created. Journey needed Steve Perry and he needed them. Theres a time for everything and theyre fortunate enough to have established the legacy they have today. I will always love Steve Perry he is an astonishing/gifted artist and that voice is truly one in a million.

I know this personally, Journey's road to fame would never have gone anywhere if it wasn't for Steve Perry. So in part Journey's journey was due to Steve Perry... Steve Perry is JOURNEY... It was his journey and his destiny and the rest of Journey should be grateful for being brought on his journey to the top of fame and fortune...All due to HIS VOICE... What he means by "Not feeling part of the band" is due to the band's egotistical jealousies...Not working with Steve as a team... A band is supposed to work as a team to help make the lead sound great and bringing the band as a whole to the top of the charts...But instead of team effort being applied here... All Steve got was flack, whinning, jealous conflicts and a unwilling band... So even though the band wasn't playing fairly, Steve still overcame it all and still brought the "The Band" to the top and made them all famous....And "The Band" knows exactly what I am talking about, don't you guys?...

+mantenimiento You have the audacity to question his FAME and FORTUNE? Dude...everyone only speaks of Steve Perry, not the band, to this day. That alone is proof of his fame. The fact that he doesn't have to keep working proves his fortune. Steve Perry is Journey. The band is secondary.

He did not fix turkey coops for a living! If you've truly listened to Steve's interviews he says without hesitation that they brought things out of him he couldn't do alone, and vice versa. Steve can at least admit fault rather than blaming the others and speaking negatively about them behind their backs. He is a class act, people love his artistry because it's always come from the heart.

I have been saying that for so long Steve lost his mother and they were very close and lost his girlfriend of 5 years around the same time instead of being true friends and saying lets take a break for awhile and let Steve grieve NO Neal and Jon wanted to tour and didn't give Steve the time he badly needed from some things I've listened to Steve had all the signs of depression and that would make someone do what Steve did by abruptly leaving the band didn't listen to any music for 2 years...

I don't understand Neal and Jon's actions, either. Congratulations on the Rock and Roll Hall of fame Steve Perry! Jonathan Cain just came out with a book Don't Stop Believing. He talks about Steve Perry alot in his book. And it was all good stuff, despite their differences. Jon talks about Steve Perry and his family being threatened during this time and how serious it got that he had to get the authorities and the FBI involved. So he had VERY good reason to let the music business go. And with Trial by Fire, he had to make a huge decision to get a hip replacement done. I can totally relate to that because my husband is going through that now. He has had hip problems for over 2 years now. Now he has decided to get his surgery done. This is why things happened the way they did with Steve at this time. It's not like he planned it? It just happened. But he did tell Jon that there was no comming back.... and he surly meant it. So now to me, Journey is jus a cover band without Steve Perry :( But Neal and Jon made that choice. So much for brotherhood.

I know that this behind the music was edited to where he said he did not feel like part of the band. Steve said that was in the beginning of joining Journey. But MTV edited that part as if it was the ending. Steve said he was very upset with them doing that, and that he would never do anything with MTV again. I met Steve Perry on a radio talk station, and he is the nicest people there is. Things happen for a reason in life. And I think with Steve Perry leaving Journey was better for him and his life. I read the GQ interview that both Schon and Perry did and many of the things that were mentioned in this video were INCOMPLETE. Here's what I got from what they both said about what happened. Journey was really Schon's band. The management built that band around Schon - because he was a prodigy - he was genius and now a legend. There is NO doubting his talent - even Steve knows that and acknowledges that throughout the interview. Steve was shoved down their throats by the label. They didn't want a vocalist - but the label said, they need one to get on radio. They were given an ultimatum: get a vocalist or we let you go. Not only that, but they didn't have a say as to WHO they were going to get. The label INSISTED they got Steve. So, from the get-go, this group was strained. This is why Steve said he never really felt part of the band - he was never really part of it. He was put in it by force so that the band can go on radio. True they had chemistry and magic when they wrote songs, but the strain in their relationship was always there. Steve commanded the stage, making the rest of the band look like back up. I think the reason why Arnel (and all the other singers they got after Steve) works well is because he does the job, but doesn't take away the limelight from the rest of the group. Steve was just brimming with charisma and he took the attention of everyone when he stepped on the stage.

since 7:33 - 7:50 everything is said. A band without Steve Perry and Steve Perry without Journey didn't have that magic, so for all those complaining about replacing Perry, Journey was not only Steve Perry. He needed that music and they needed Perry. Now, current Journey is different and is not the same, correct, but that doesn't mean is not real, it is just another Journey, you can like it or not, keep listening to he new music or just keep listening to the old tunes, that's up to you.
