My introduction to her was the closing ceremony of the 1988 Calgary Olympics where she did a rousing rendition of "Turn Me Round" with the athletes coming out of the stands to dance with her. "Torch . . . " came out the next year and I was permanently hooked.

One of her very best performances is Leonard Cohens “ hallelujah” at the JUNO Awards in Canada. Simply breathtaking and got a huge standing ovation that lasted a long time. I heard k.d. lang singing hallelujah at a Buddhist talk in LA and she is fantastic. Thanks for your nice reactions.

First time I saw her was at the 88 Calvary Olympics and she blew my mind. I immediately went out and bought her CD "Absolute Torch and Twang", which is a killer CD. Her song about child abuse just guts me, but she also has some fun songs and some great love songs. Coyote is my favorite song

HI JOVANY.... K.D. is my absolute FAV female vocalist!! QUESTION: Have you ever listened to or watched any performances of FREDDIE MERCURY singing LIVE? I don't mean the "same old studio-recorded batch of big hits that everyone's heard on the radio", especially here in America. "Hardcore" Queen fans will all tell you that their BEST music is the "Deep Cuts" (ie album songs that were never released as singles)... and that NOTHING compares to Freddie Mercury connecting with the audience when he's singing LIVE. As a matter of fact... Queen is the ONLY band who are still famous for being BETTER LIVE than their studio recordings, and Freddie Mercury has been voted the BEST VOCALIST/BEST FRONTMAN in rock music history. Aside from the usual rock songs that most people know, Freddie could also "tear your heart out" with emotional ballads... and he also recorded an album of OPERA in 1987. WOULD YOU PLEASE CONSIDER REACTING TO ONE OF THESE SOMETIME.... *"WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER" LIVE, WEMBLEY STADIUM - FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 (I specified the date because there were TWO 1986 Queen concerts at Wembley Stadium - the other was Saturday, July 12, 1986... but for THIS particular song, FRIDAY, July 11 is the ABSOLUTE BEST, MOST EMOTIONAL version.) *"SOMEBODY TO LOVE" LIVE, MILTON KEYNES BOWL - 1982 *"LOVE OF MY LIFE" LIVE, WEMBLEY STADIUM - SATURDAY, JULY 12, 1986 *"WHITE QUEEN" LIVE, ODEON HAMMERSMITH - 1975 and/or *"UNDER PRESSURE" LIVE, WEMBLEY STADIUM - SATURDAY, JULY 12, 1986 (Not a ballad, "just" Freddie's most famous "audience interaction".) THANKS, JOVANY!

For some fun you should find some songs from before she signed with a major label. She was doing cowboy punk then and it was fabulous. Something like Bopalena. I saw here live at the Winnipeg Folk Festival when she was still in the selling records out of the back seat of her car stage and it was one of the best performances I have seen in the last 50 years.

Was it maybe '83? kd was singing at a little side tent. Were you there when her mic didn't work? She just put it aside, stepped closer to the maybe 20 of us listening, and sang her heart out with a voice that could fill the prairies!

try 'three cigarettes" a cover of Patsy Cline, then try a Cole Porter song 'so in love'. that is her amazing emotion and technic in singing a song and making it hers.
