Joy Division - Heart and Soul - Rainbow, London - 4th April 1980

Another rare recording of Joy Division performing a song from their support slot for The Stranglers at The Rainbow Theatre London on 4th April 1980 - this time 'Heart and Soul'
Once again, apologies for relatively poor sound quality - this is taken from my master cassette tape recording and is the best known available quality recording of this gig and uploaded as a historical record of this legendary performance. For the first time, many thanks to 'Fage' for his work in remastering my original recording.
This was uploaded for the first time during the week of the 41st anniversary Ian Curtis's death.

I really like how low quality the audio is, it’s honestly more immersive this way. The way that the recorder didn’t properly pick up the synth is actually kinda scary!

Me too, Ian had a seizure at the very end of their set, he did that iconic dance he is also known for, great gig all told, was 19yrs old back then

I met a girl recently who was at this concert but she turned up late. She was gutted that she missed the strippers at the beginning of the Stranglers set but was indifferent to having missed Joy Division.
