Anything from the vaults, and I mean anything, Ian Curtis coughing into the mic... is much appreciated

So sad to think that 6 weeks later Ian took his own life. He has left us with a wonderful legacy that will live on for as long as music exists. #joydivision

This is the way informal concert recordings sounded. God bless the mobile phone.

Probably the best performance of the song. Ian sounds absolutely miraculous, here.

Thank you for sharing this gem. Joy Division existed fir such a short period of time, and any recording is priceless. I can still feel the emotion in Ian's voice.

That sounded like great vocals, even with the rough recording you can hear how intense that is.

Me too, Ian had a seizure at the very end of their set, he did that iconic dance he is also known for, great gig all told, was 19yrs old back then

I really like how low quality the audio is, it’s honestly more immersive this way. The way that the recorder didn’t properly pick up the synth is actually kinda scary!

My memory of this (apart from Ian’s fit) was that Peter Hook played the entire set with his back to the audience…?

Yes that was true. I thought that he did this at every gig but I don't think that this was the case.

I met a girl recently who was at this concert but she turned up late. She was gutted that she missed the strippers at the beginning of the Stranglers set but was indifferent to having missed Joy Division.

That has come up pretty well. Really I just want the whole concert up so I can listen to the songs back to back. Get a sense of it. Greedy, I know.

Curious does anyone know where that white guitar Ian had is now? Worth a few bob I'd say!

Bernard played Ian's Vox Phantom VI Special in New Order and, years later, gave it to Ian's daughter. Then it was sold at auction for a large sum. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5DKmI2Kgs5jeNU

If Ian had not died think most of us here would never heard about them... but I wish he was alive...
