Although I'm not religious, one thing that has always stood out to me about Muslims (speaking generally) vs. Christians is that Muslims by and large are VERY knowledgeable about what's in the Koran, the context, the history, the facts and the interpretation, etc. They're encouraged to read and learn and ask questions, and the end result is they very often KNOW their religion front the back. Can't say the same about the average Christian. Not even remotely. At best I may find someone who knows a lot of verses by memory, but have no true understanding of what those verses are talking about. They only know what their pastor has told them the verse means and they accept it fully, without question or thought.
@weidchar1646Ай бұрын
I don't think this is true at all. For one Muslims only have one book to study, whereas Christians have 66 (at least the protestant canon). 2, you'd be surprised by how many Muslim memorize the Quran, barely knowing any Arabic. In much of Africa, I know this is the case. Probably North America and parts of Europe as well. Most Muslim also don't know the context behind most verses in the Quran. The scholars? Sure. But not the every day Muslim. Dawg, I don't know where you got your info from, but it's faulty.
@ammaranwar5343Ай бұрын
There are several reasons for this. For one, Islam, particularly in the west, is so politicized that Muslims have been encouraged to read a lot in order to defend their beliefs. Post 911, and the insurgence of political Islam and Islamic extremism factors into this. Second , Islam is the state religion of several countries, and the lack of separation between state and mosque means that many aspects of our lives are shaped by the religion regardless of how practicing we are in our personal lives ( ex mandatory hijab laws in Iran, apostasy laws in the middle east, marriage laws in south Asia) . This forces us to examine our religion in a way that the average christian may not have to. Thirdly, month long rituals like Ramadan and Muharram involve giving more attention to the Quran, serving as yearly knowledge boosters for the community. I'm not sure if Christianity has an equivalent. Lastly, I think the fact that we have 3-5 mandatory prayers daily, forces us to reflect on our faith at a deeper level. This is all just my observation as a Muslim.

As a Muslim, I really dislike the muslim panel. Some questions are very straightforward and can be answered to using the Quran verses. No feelings or thoughts involved. For example, homosexuality IS a sin if you act on it. The feeling is not a sin. Simply put. Second, there are extremists in every religion. You can't necessarily blame the religion. A Muslim extremist would still be an exremist if he was Christian. Third, when discussing black people and women's rights, the Muslim side could have delved into specific scenarios where ISLAM helped black people and women and regave them their rights! Everyone's arguments were based on personal views. Actually show proof from the scripture instead of tiptoeing around the answer.

@Ray03595Ай бұрын
It's a Middle East religion. Not an African one. It's a confirmation you've been brainwashed and conquered nonetheless. For black Americans our ancestors slavemasters literally stripped them of their original beliefs and gave them a version of Christianity that justified slavery. It's been used as a tool to control people for thousands of years and is nothing more than that.
