The reason is excessive sentences for sexual crimes. If the sentence for a sexual crime is as high as a sentence for murder, the perpetrator is much more willing to attempt to kill and conceal the body, whereas otherwise he would have let the victim go. Blame your populist politicians for the laws.

@solo xi She's right, he will definitely get forgiveness if he sincerely asks God for it. No sin is too much for God to forgive, and no sin is too small for him to overlook and judge. You are not so different from the killer if you deny his humanity. The judge is very grounded, and it's obvious she cares about his soul regardless of his crimes. She reflects God's way of judging - firm in judgment and at the same time compassionate - concerned about a soul that is about to waste.

I just think that this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the many great contributions of the African American community and their culture to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real Estate values are fueled by the influx of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nurturing of these communities, an example of all they have acheived by their enthusiasm for self-improvement through hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive we would be poorer as a nation.

Anyone saying he should rot in Hell needs to go back to the Gospel. However justifiably angry and disgusted you are by this man and his crimes, God's mercy is infinite. There is no sin grave enough that it could deprive this man of salvation if he put his faith in God. And if you hope to be forgiven for your own offences, you must learn to forgive others. I know it's hard. It's a tall order for us who are merely humans. But you should endeavour this spiritual labour.

And the fact that you were able to sit through this trial with the horrific facts. You’re a better stronger woman than I am. That is true. I think most parents have a moment when a child runs away from them, they can’t find a child, a call or text message goes unanswered for a period of time. Each parent has that sick feeling of dread that something happened to their child. For most parents, that moment passes but for a few unfortunate ones, it doesn’t. Instead, it becomes a first step of a neverending nightmare you never wake from. My heart breaks for you. I know you’re a woman of deep faith. I know that you know that you and Felecia will have a joyous reunion. I wish you all of the best.”

Singapore wastes no time. There’s an automatic review of capital cases, and if the review supports the verdict, the sentence is carried out by hanging the next Friday. There’s no 20+ years of sitting around on the public dime waiting for some smooth-talking lawyers to convince a court to overturn the sentence. I've watched several cases by this judge, and I have to say that her spirit/heart are well grounded in both a context of spiritual richness, and a deep empathy for mankind directly. I find it interesting, that in today's times, where soooooo much darkness is falling upon us, there is "stronger lights" that still shine. Final words, "May God have mercy on your soul Mr. Ritchie" are words that MOST judges will not utter. That most people would not allow their broken hearts over such heinous acts to even consider. Yet, she delivers them not with a spewed tone of repetitive mechanistic coldness, but with a genuine deeply rooted empathy for mankind and their trials and tribulations....

There was a trailer park in FL exclusively for pedos and there were monitors to ensure no children were there. In a prison they should be in there for life and have their own village so it would seem normal. The only difference is this enclosed village had zero children present and the walls around the village would prevent any from accidentally entering or the pedo adult residents escaping. He told us to forgive those that hurt us, even those that take our life, but more so help those that are struggling in sin and help them see the light, no exceptions. I believe in the death penalty particularly when related to rape/murder of innocent children. With all the forensics DNA and so on, it can be proven beyond doubt, unlike in the bad old days when some innocent people were sentenced to death. There is no way I would have been in support of it then. We need it reintroduced here in England.

The problem is that a Republican majority of the United States Supreme Court has ruled that actual innocence is no reason not to procede with execution of a death sentence. Their stance is that you had a fair trial so you should be executed, even if you can prove you didn't commit the crime.
