Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery

July 31st a volunteer team from Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery was dispatched to Gordon Gulch just south of Ward, Colorado to get a Toyota Sequoia that got too close to the washout edge and got high centered when the edge gave way.
We used the Orange jeep with a 2:1 tethered to the back frame rails with transit clusters on a strap, and the white jeep was redirected off a tree from the driver side to prevent the front end from sliding into the washout and potentially rolling the vehicle.
While it looked scary, the rigging was relatively simple and the pulling went quite smooth once that initial mire factor finally broke free. The first 12 inches of a pull like this is usually the hardest. We had to chalk both rigs tires to prevent being pulled downhill.

Soft shackle is not rigged right even after you "fixed" it. Manufacturers videos say to not to pull against the ball...the ball connection should be 90 degrees to the load

the way it was rigged is actually the accepted way in the offroad recovery trainers world.
