The 3rd and final operation of Friday the 27th took us to the far north end of the Switzerland Trail just SE of of the Town of Ward, CO.
This Toyota was having some traction issues and ended up well off trail after sliding off an uphill climb.
Very rarely does a winch pull land with exactly the right amount of line out, but one redirect off a tree with one extension allowed us to hook directly to the vehicle, dramatically speeding up the process.
Once we got close to the trail, another redirect was used to pull the truck onto the trail. It was still having some traction issues so we brought down a tow rig to get it all the way out to the county road.
Under all the snow was about 1-3 inches of ice in spots, and tire chains saved the day!

Trying to learn here, were you connecting to the Tacoma on the driver side stock point/did he have a shackle there? I was thinking the passenger side was the recovery point & the driver side was just used during shipping of the truck. Either way very cool recovery

the "driver side" is a closed loop so the rigging can't come off. we used that one on purpose to avoid any surprises.

How many of you think aired down to 8 psi and a set of maxtrax could have been a self recovery.... ?

airing down certainly would have helped, but crawling up that side hill grade would have taken forever without a winch line assist.

Was he coming up from Gordon Gulch to Swiss? Been a few years since I was down that way. How did he get so far off the trail? Scary feeling sliding down a hill backwards/sideways.

the far far north end of the switzerland loops back around to sawmill road, i think they went off while climbing up hill (based on tracks) and then drove down and around in an attempt to find an easier spot to get back on the trail. which ultimately just made it worse.

Nice recovery, Justin. Would have been tough to use the ropes w/o the winch.

Man... what was that guy doing off road in the snow like that with what look like street tries? Didn't even bother lowering the pressure in them. TACOPRO? More like STUCKOPRO
