Ready to go "Full Throttle" and actually use the entire range of your throttle stick?!? 🤩 How about "dialing-in" your throttle for a specific flight - you know, like a lower max throttle value for cinematic flight versus higher throttle value for flippety-flop freestyle? This OpenTX Throttle Control (Dialed In) works with Jumper T12, T16, T18, and any transmitter running OpenTX system firmware! Let me know how you'll use your DIALED-IN THROTTLE in the comments below and make sure to check out my site at TMacFPV.com !😀👍

Wow this is terrific! I can't wait to try this......this seems like a very important part of this hobby, and yet I never could quite get a straight answer regarding "throttle limit" functionality but after watching this video, I am EXCITED to try this ASAP! If I understand this correctly, it should make throttle control much smoother......THANKS TMAC! PS - I started with your Sharkbyte update vid, that led me here, and this video led me to at least two more that I NEED to watch.....and then back to the Sharkbyte video 😂 Really great content , thanks, and over time I am starting to think that surely you are a retired pilot....maybe USAF 😎

Hi new subscriber 👋wondering if you would do a video on how to succeed setup a Spektrum model with this radio, the 3 flight modes and panic/safe recovery switch that is standard on most of their planes. I just purchased the horizon hobby Valiant and would like to have it in the air confidently without worries yet difficult to find information. Any help is appreciated thanks

Is it possible do a similar trick with throttle (or any other) EXPO? I'd love to be able to adjust it - if not with a pot, than with a 3-position switch (0%, 25%, 50%).

You're very welcome my friend. I'm happy with my T16 Pro since I got it last October. Also, this OpenTX throttle control works the same way with any transmitter running OpenTX system firmware. Jumper T12, T16, t18, FrSky transmitters, soon-to-be RadioMaster TX16S, etc.

@@TMacFPV hey tmac... Trying to do this with the Radiomaster TX12... Anyway I can do this with one of the 3 position switches since I don't have a logi-switch?
@TMacFPV3 жыл бұрын
@@califpv Hey Califronia_Gaming! You can use whatever switch you want as the "Source" described at the 7:35 time mark of this video. I understand the TX12 does not have the potentiometer (pot) switches. You can use a 3-position switch, however, then I believe you'll only have 3 values for your throttle control (50%, 75%, and 100%). What makes more sense to me for throttle control on the TX12 is using one of the "slider switches" on either side of the transmitter. these will work exactly as the potentiometer switch shown inn this video where you can have ANY value of throttle control between 50% - 100% (not just 3, but ANY).
@califpv3 жыл бұрын
@@TMacFPV your right! I used the right pot slider and it works beautifully ! Thank you my friend!

Excellent Video, I always look forward to your presentation. I had been using betaflight Throttle "Scale" and "70" percent in the pids area. And throttle expo on the inputs for low mid high rate. I like your approach better, less setup... Thanks!!
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
You're quite welcome Joe and thank you for making the time to provide me with your feedback on the content. I also used to do something similar to what you had been doing. This, to me, IS much simpler. "Dial a throttle!" Don't think it could get any easier. When you try it out, get back with me and let me know what you think and how you're using it. Looking forward to hearing about it!
@HGUAPSLA4 жыл бұрын
thank you so much for this, its super helpful. question is...how does this interact with throttle expo in betaflight? when I scale down throttle is the expo in the wrong place ?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey Falcon Won, you are quite welcome and great question! Yes, this will affect your throttle expo in Betaflight. Whatever you do (program) inside of your transmitter gets output as a signal going to your Flight Controller (and therefore Betaflight). Betaflight takes this signal output from your transmitter and applies whatever you program in Betaflight to it. So, if you have a throttle expo (around mid throttle) set up in Betaflight that runs from 0% throttle to 100% throttle (in Betaflight) AND you use this throttle control with the S2 switch programmed in on your transmitter and you turn the S2 switch to limit your throttle to 50% when at max stick deflection - then at max stick deflection after Betaflight throttle expo has been applied, you will find yourself at the "mid throttle point" on your curve in Betaflight. I hope I was able to explain that well enough for you to understand.

Awesome stuff! I don't have a jumper either 😞 Lol! Increasing the resolution of the stick is a great lesson👍🏻 and is something I'm familiar with. I lower the degrees per second for pitch and roll on betaflight for more resolution and better control. For throttle, I play with the throttle curve on the taranis, so I still have a 100 percent if I "need" 😉 it. Flattening the middle a bit so it's not jumpy for smoother flight. You definitely got me considering a jumper 🤔
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, appreciate it! However you're doing what you do, just keep doing it brother! Your flight vid's are spectacular cinematic stuff! I too have throttle curves with a "flattened out" inflection point and different axes rates on a switch I can flip back and forth between, so I understand what you're talkin' about.
@gmivisualsjason37294 жыл бұрын
So this video is throttle limit scale..... Can the same be done on throttle limit percent? I normally use 25% throttle limit percent. Would be nice to be able to bump this up for those windy days without needing to use BF
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey FPV wannabe! I'm not sure I understand your question, please clarify. This "Throttle Control Dialed In" actually does both. It adjusts the max throttle percent to whatever youturn the "dial" to between 50% and 100% while simultaneously re-scaling your throttle channel so you can use the entire throw of your throttle stick. So, if you're referring to the Betaflight Commands of: throttle_limit_type = OFF, SCALE, or CLIP and throttle_limit_percent = 25 TO 100 valid values, what this video is describing is using throttle limit type of SCALE and throttle limit percent of 50% to 100% (whatever value you want by turning the potentiometer switch #2 to). Its an easier and more "accessible" way of doing it than having to connect your quad to a computer, go into Betaflight and adjust the values that way. for instance, what if you wanted to change your max throttle from one flight (more of a cinematic flight) to the next flight (more of an "all-out" freestyle flight)? With this method, you just turn the dial! Hope that answers your question! If not, please clarify. Have a great weekend!

@@TMacFPV isn't their a difference between throttle limit scale and percent?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
@@gmivisualsjason3729 Yes there is. These are two different Betaflight Commands. This video shows how to accomplish (on your transmitter, not in Betaflight) Throttle Limit Type = Scale in conjunction with Throttle Limit Percent (anywhere from 50% to 100% depending on how you turn the dial). This is the difference between what is described in this video and the Betaflight commands. Using the process in this video, you can just turn the dial to adjust your throttle limit percent (and also adjust your scale to match that percent so you can use full range of stick motion). Throttle limit percent is the maximum you want your throttle to go to. In Betaflight, It is used in conjunction with either "Clip" or "Scale." If you set throttle limit type = clip you're just chopping off the top portion of your throttle above your throttle limit percent. That means once your stick moves past the point to whatever percent you have set, it does nothing. You're wasting that top portion of your stick movement. So, I personally do not see any value in "Clip' used in conjunction with "Scale." Scale re-adjusts the scale of your stick position so you're able to use the entire range of stick "throw". You can also set the max throttle percent in your transmitter by changing the throttle Mixer Page weight to whatever percent you want and adding the complimentary offset to it (for example, if you wanted to limit throttle to 75%, change throttle weight to 75 and offset to -25). This would also work, however, anytime you wanted to change the value, you'd have to go back to the Mixer Page and change the numbers. With the method described in this video, you just turn a knob. Make sense? More info here: github.com/betaflight/betaflight/pull/5608

@@TMacFPV hi their... Thank you so much. Really appreciate the detailed response. What I'd like to do is be able to adjust throttle limit percent only on a dial. On my quad I'm currently set at 25% and yes that means that I reach full power with only a small amount of stick movement. I've actually really grown to like this method. But it can leave me wanting more power when the wind picks up. Can I set adjustable throttle percentage on a dial without it doing the scale adjustment?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
@@gmivisualsjason3729 So, you're saying you don't want to use the entire range of stick movement? You don't want to be able to push the throttle stick all the way up?
