Their idea of escaped dinosaurs causing mysterious deaths in the mainland is actually lifted directly from the first Jurassic Park novel, which has a prologue where an American biologist investigates string of strange animal attacks in Costa Rica. It was cut from the movie because that plotline doesn't affect events in the island at all, and the biologist only returns to the story towards end of the book.

Before seeing this in the theater when it came out, my friend asked “what can they possibly do that would be new with the dinosaurs?” and I replied “I bet they talk this time” and we joked about what they would say for like 5 minutes. Then when we were in the theater opening weekend and the “Alan” Dream sequence happened, we started laughing so loud we were asked to leave
@thegloriouskingkronk84222 жыл бұрын
That thing your friend said, the real answer is that Jurassic Park/World never did that much new with them, and part of that is because dinosaurs were animals and all movies ever really do much with animals is make them into movie monsters or animated characters, but there also was this one film called Theodor Rex which is a buddy cop film with our two main characters being an anthropomorphic T. rex and Whoopi Goldberg, who was contractually obliged to feature in this film against her will. That film tackles very serious issues, like racism, except against dinosaurs, and the plot overall can be reduced to one resembling that of the film Seven, except the climax is stopping a super weapon. So essentially, the answer is that the freshest thing you can do with dinosaurs is indeed making them talk. Or you could get really creative with their monster scenes. Bears were also just bears until Annihilation decided ursaphobia is a thing people should have

This is my favorite movie. The spinosaurus boat sequence was way better than when the T Rex attacked the kids in the jeep in the 1st one. Why couldn't the T Rex just smush the kids under that glass? Also, the foggy terrasaur sequence was probably the scariest in the series. The only weak link is the guy who stole the raptor eggs. The actor and character could have been way better.

There are KZbin channels I can "watch" while doing other things and mostly listening to the audio, and then there are channels like this, where the editing and the visual gags are so strong that to look away for two seconds means to miss something funny. (As I was typing this comment Gedeon Burkhard popped up on the screen. I interviewed him years ago on my morning show and had no idea he'd been in a dog detective show.)

This was the first movie I ever left the theater hating. The T. rex dying after a minute of screen time broke my heart and literally ended my childhood. Having just turned thirteen at the time I can’t help but look back at that as some kind of weird symbolism. I don’t mind it as much now. Considering all the bs that went into making the film it’s amazing it’s as coherent as it is. I’d take this over broken movies like Fant4stic.

It's still a more enjoyable watch than Lost World even though that was the better "movie". The Pteradon aviary scene and Spinosaurus boat attack are straight out of the the original Jurassic Park novel. (Although the boat scene was actually the Rex in the book.) So i see this film as more of an extension of the first movie showing ideas that didn't quite make it into the original. Not a horrible film, definitely a low point. But i watch when it's on TV.

Another fun bit of trivia: if the Spinosaurus had gotten the first bite on the t-rex, the t-rex would've still won. Because their necks were so thick and densely muscled to support its massive head and jaws, the spinosaurus wouldn't have been able to sink it teeth in. Let alone break the rex's neck. Found that out watching a video of a Paleontologist critiquing the movies

I fucking love this movie. Mostly for sentimental value. I was 5 when it came out in 2001. I vividly recall seeing a promo thing on some kids yoghurt at school and when I got home I asked my mum if we could go see it tonight. She said “nah mate I’ve been at work or some shit, ask ya bloody ... ya Dad when he gets in from work”. So I sit eager as fuck at the kitchen table and the moment my dad walks in, probably after a 12 hour shift driving lorries, the fucking top bloke, I say “Ay Dad can we go see Jurassic Park 3 at the cinema” and he literally said yeah mate and took me straight away. Turns out around this time he was cheating on my Mum but who cares fucking Spinosaurus amiright ?? mate I was gassed for weeeeeks. Also dream-sequence-raptor in retrospect was genius. It feels very David Lynch or David Cronenberg. I’m into it. Yeah, JP3. Bloody good times.

I remember never seeing marketing for this movie. There just wasn’t much of a push for it. I always kinda liked this one. The cast was interesting with character types not typical for this type of film. Unpopular opinion, I think this is the best Jurassic movie apart from the original. Why? Becuase it knows what it is, it’s short Dino action. All of the “grand vision and themes” have been stripped out that every sequel has tried to tag on. This one is shorter, knows what it is, and isn’t pretending anything otherwise.

As someone who grew up on a farm there are two possibilities for the trex pee I can think of. The first I used to see cow poop with what I assumed was little pee puddles. If a rex makes a poop pile like the ones in the first and pees on it at the same time it might make a poop volcano with pee lava for easy collection. The other possibility would be that the rex had a general area for the bathroom, some farm animals in pens keep bathroom areas, and they pee enough to makes puddles in the ground. Collect after the rex leaves.

Sam Neill is awesome, especially in the infamous “Alan” scene .. the raptor winking 😉 scene is fantastic .. the bit where the raptors do a weekend at bernies with a corpse is marvellous.. the phone in the spinosauras is genius.. the evil Pteranodons are class etc etc yep the end is a rush job, you know “let’s get this finished, it’s way over budget” sorta thing. It's a skeleton of a film. In the first there was wonder. The second didn't have wonder but tried to add lore a bit but the third barely anything happens and sometimes it just zooms past interesting points that needed to be shown. For example they could have shown bits of how Eric survived, have Ellie ask about Alan and have the husband go all hush hush about the restricted airspace knowing where he is. You know something but it's just a waste of time but with potential to be more.
