Just got this in my recommended videos. I got hooked watching farming videos years ago. This is amazing work! The belts and pulleys look so dangerous! I got scared for y'all leaning over and grabbing on stuck belts while things are moving! Be safe out there! Y'all are absolutely adorable! New subscriber here! 👍

@rackets001 Glad you enjoyed it! It’s not as dangerous as it looks, and there are no sharp parts on belt. Thanks for watching and subbing!

Great video. Good lighting is so important if harvesting anything at night. We find harvesting hay for cutting and baling much better at night. Also in the orchard, mowing at night is so much better than baking in the sun. Oh, and always a breakdown.

On a serious note, is it really that easy to have a grape farm?
@CJfarmGrit2 ай бұрын
It takes a lot of resilience and MUCH hard work… hence, the last word in channel name (grit)

Where is your farm?

In my opinion it is not good to try to unlock the picker when it is still running. I think it is too dangerous.

Why at night?
@superdave00022 ай бұрын
Why do y'all call it a gondola instead of a wagon? Tradition maybe.
@CJfarmGrit2 ай бұрын
Because it is a grape gondola Mr. Superdave. “Wagon” and “tradition” makes me imagine a prairie wagon or something! 😉

That picker looks like it hasnt had any maintenance in 20 years. Maybe go over it before its time to use it and you wont have a breakdown every day.
@CJfarmGrit2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I can assure you the 2000 harvester purchased used in 2015, and shipped to us from New Zealand, has had well over $20K+ in repairs and maintenance since we’ve owned it. It regularly receives post-harvest and pre-harvest maintenance. It would be impossible to have a harvester go down a grape row that hasn’t “had any maintenance in 20 years” You won’t meet a farmer that doesn’t have to deal with inevitable setbacks! Farmers don't replace a fan that's running perfectly fine just to replace it. Homeowners typically replace a refrigerator when it stops working. Some things require real-time replacement. Tires have to be replaced at times when it still has tread. Even brand new harvesters have breakdowns. Our goal is to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers. Many have said our videos are educational, and we hope you find them educational, as well. Thanks for watching!

@@CJfarmGrit Thats a lotta words to say youve spent a lot of money on preventative maintenance thats been mostly ineffective. Of course machinery breaks down and tires go flat but you should be able to measure breakdowns in weeks not hours. Its time for that machine to see a qualified mechanic.
@CJfarmGrit2 ай бұрын
@DR10002 your assumptions are just that. It has been with a qualified harvester mechanic multiple times. That has been the “bulk” of the expenses. Last year it sat with them for approx 11 months as they were awaiting parts. Have a great day!
