Are The Red Hot Chili Peppers Overrated?

The #RedHotChiliPeppers are back at it again this time with their new song #BlackSummer. I've been asked by a few of you to react to this song and give my thoughts. I have a few potentially unpopular opinions about RHCP. I may have a differing approach to playing guitar to Frusciante, who I'm aware is beloved by many fans. However, maybe I'm wrong and even this new song may have changed my mind about a few things. Just to clarify; when I use the term “expression”, I mean vibrato and dynamics (variable velocity) in the lead guitar technique. I’m not suggesting that his playing isn’t expressive, I was using the technical musical term. I’m well aware that without these things a solo can still be emotive and indeed great.
