If you place a storage shed near the mine you can put stone iron and salt in them and head home uncumbered and when you get home they will be in your other storage shed and you will have 600 storage instead of 300

Biggest tip for the bow, save it until it gets patched and does damage and doesn't drain your stamina. In the meantime how about iron pike. You'd kick ass with that.

The bow needs to drain the stamina when drawn, it is not a crossbow. But the rate should be slowed down and the arrowdrop needs to be less, except it is just a low powered Huntington bow at 25 pounds. But that thing, a grown adult with average strenght and stamina could hold it drawn for an entire day. They should add barely visible bloodstains when you injure an animal and add a "bleeding out over time" effect which occurs at a sufficient amount of damage. (Would require a somewhat detailed damage-system depending the damage and bleed-out effect on the point of impact, a doe with an arrow in its throat should bleed out considerably faster than one with an arrow in its butt. Later one should not even bleed out, but have a chance of escaping and surviving. And for people who just cant spot the bloodstains, a trained dog should be sold at the village, it follows the player, or stays at home, protecting it from wolves. When whit the player, he fights by your sie against wolves and follows bloodstains when hunting. He shows the player where the prey went by following the trail and keeping just outside of the sensing distance of the prey, when crouching. The dog would be a great help and a realistic addidtion to the atmosphere of the game. Disclaimer: I do not take ownership of any writing mistakes in this comment. from a gamers perspective i agree the current bow sucks (from watching vids) from an RL hunting archers perspective it is realistic. if you dont hit a deer in a certain spot with bows of 50 pounds upwards in drawweight, it will not be a clean kill (and i hate it to run after them until a bleed out or getting a 2nd mercy kill shot when its fatigued after what felt like hours of tracking). and 50+ pounders drawn by an untrained person? you need to be already built through other sports a bit to be able to hold the draw for more than 3 seconds. And if you are a trained traditional archer, you dont need to hold the draw longer than 3 seconds. Edit: and trust me on this: even when you train for a decade, warbows with 90+ pounds, you dont WANT to hold longer than 3 secs. Thats why i laugh every time i see them hold the draw with supposed warbows in movies for minutes through interrogating someone as if they point a gun at him. me: "yeah, try that with a real one!"

Realistically imagine having a spear made from a log and throwing that and it being stronger and as equally accurate as a bow made from gathered junk. Its so difficult balancing reality and game play. Id take a compound bow anyday over a sharp stick 😂

@@steve323f Dont underestimate that pointy stick, steve! it is not the oldest weapon still in use for no reason! all around the globe the spear was the most produced and most used weapon in history. there was a funny study of University Münster, that it will will take weapons manufacturers at least another 200 years to produce the same amount of guns to catch up to the assumed mass of spears produced through history (and thats kinda frightening thought thats so rather short) And i know a few hunters, that still go spear hunting today, even seen it once myself and was utterly disgusted. but i cant denie that a good throw of a strong man is crazy devastating. so a spear one or two shotting a deer in the game? i am grudgingly okay with that.

Hobbityfus don’t worry friend, you did better than a lot of people who natively speak English. 😀 I like your blood trail idea, they could make it start larger, and get smaller, and less evident, the longer you take to track the deer. As for the bow, I understand why they have it drain stamina, but it’s a bit crazy here, although I’m not that far in the game so I don’t know if its been fixed yet. Honestly I think the bow should have a better chance of a kill than a spear, I’m just afraid they will nerf the spears while bugging the bow, making early hunting even harder.

You said you don't really have to fertilise your plots. You do have to. It said fertilised plot when you started ploughing. Also rocks. Before you recruit people to your village, the best way to stock up on rocks is to run around during winter time. They stand out much better with most grass and weeds under a layer of snow. Also if you think recruiting make sure you can recruit at least 2 people. Mood = wood to burn + food to eat. You can stock up on these yourself on one of them but I have 2 peeps in my village now and they require 1.1 food and 1.1 wood/hour. Dunno if they are ingame hours or RL hours cu I have 1 cutting wood (trees still stand) and 1 hunting (I do switch him to gathering every now and again dunno if it matters). Either way you don't want to slave yourself into satisfying their needs. Bow and longbow are both terrible (did not try iron arrows but don't see those one shotting animals so equally rubbish). Go for spears and if you have them just sell them bows and arrows. God knows when the devs will decide to revamp the whole archery system.

I love how realistic the bow is, about time a game puts in a realistic bow. A recurve and long bow are both made to pull back and shoot, there is no holding either of the bows back while aiming, they will break (especially in this time period). You aim while pulling back and release as soon as you're fully pulled back

i somewhat agree! the guy in the game is a noob with a selfmade bow and arrows. i expect him to perform poorly. i wonder if the game has a heart and/or head shot mechanic (yet). and how the skillpoints effect archery. I will buy the game tomorrow and look into it. there are very few games out there where traditional archery is a challenge how it is in real life.

my guess for archery is you need to invest into the perk tree for it. like most RPG's. once you level it up it most likely become easier to use.

I would love it if we could make roads! Or, maybe have that mechanic where the villagers make them due to their pathing. The bow just sucks. I don't have any tips for making that better.

For the bow, I can't speak to the number of shots as I got 20 free iron arrows. But I was able to get alot closer to the dear with the bow. You can chase it by walking up to it and following it. Don't run it scares them. You were way too far away. Test how close you can get walking up to them. You can track the arrows by using the special vision just like the spear. I like the bow better as you recover all the arrows. They didn't seem to break for me. It takes 2 iron arrows to the head to bring down a boar.

Two stone arrows to the face also brings down a boar, however, unlike a single wood spear to the neck to bring down a doe (female deer) - I've yet to one shot a doe with the bow.

Love your stuff kage... 2 remarks: Respawn of trees is all 32 seasons, but it only respawns around 10% of chopped trees, can be enforced in save game to 1 season You can carry 15 logs (each 2.5kg) and an axe if you dont wear anything else with your 40kg weight limit

@Kage, Its not you, the bow sucks... it needs to be patched, you can track your arrows if they do not break. Also, you will get the quest "pay taxes" when its time to pay your taxes. There is a quest line you can pickup in the main town that is pretty fun. I think the guys name is Alwin.

Yep, I agree the bow sucks and I can't beat Alwin's bow shooting score with my bow(one of his quests) which pulls like a war bow and hits like a toy bow ...lost 600 gold trying...I get close but no cigar!

Now they fixed the crops they need to let you get rid of fields. THEY FIXED THAT TOO. Now you don't even really need manure as you can scrap the field. Somehow my wife and child disappeared, but now I have 6 villagers in my Hamlet. Thrashing takes WAY TOO LONG. I plant 16 of each grain so I have to thrash about 100 of each and it takes an entire night. The nights do not end for a long time, but they do end now. Sadly people do go to sleep and they will not wake up to talk. If it shows no debt I would not worry about it. For money now I mine iron for a few days and make a ton of scythes because I built a smithy right by the mine. It restocks too. Then pile everything (including salt and stones if you want) by a fire in front of the smithy and pick it all up before you sleep and it takes all that stuff back. Then hit all the nearby vendors and sell the scythes for 105 gold each. I made 5000 gold in just one season. When you do large farms you advance the tech FAST. I now have a chicken coop and 3 chickens (get chicks as they mature fast). Chicks are 500 but are only there sometimes (I found them late spring) and chickens are 1000. I have tons of food stored up and I have 1 villager collecting wood is keeping up. The chickens just produce eggs. I have 2 working the fields, 2 working the hunting lodge (pretty worthless though), and the other running the coop (again only eggs so not a big deal yet). The farmers are doing OK. I am building a Tavern II (I think I bake the flatbread there), I have a Bulk Storage II, 4 Small House (II). I am looking for a new wife and a bartender and a farmer worker (for thrashing). I'm doing 16 of each vegetable, oats, and barley (one row) and 32 of wheat (two rows) as you need it for feed and flour. I not doing flax right now because I am not making clothing (I did up 10 bags before I tore it down). I've been selling off all the junk I do not need or use. I went back to a stone ax as they just do not last long enough. I have something like 10 years of food right now. I'm even thinking of getting rid of the hunting lodge and build another house in stead. I will need to go hunting at least one day a year though. Then I can have more farmers. I wish the hunters could at least set one rabbit trap per hunter. That is about all the meat they collect from what I see, but I can get at least 50 meat in one day easy... 100 on a good day probably. The most I did so far was about 80, but I was not trying. Something is now glitched with the taxes. It told me they were due, but I could not pay them. Then when summer hit it said I failed my mission to pay taxes, but I was able to pay my debt. It was almost 2000 gold as it was from 2 years because of that Tax Collector mission that was screwed up and those massive number of fields because the manure did not work. My taxes with one 8x16 field is about 400 now.

I harvested Rye from my field, but don't know how to convert it to Rye grain (which would allow me to cook with it). Do you know how to convert Rye from the field into Rye grain? You mentioned Thrashing? How do you do that? Thx

@@bmjr24 The pile of straw on the floor is for thrashing the stalks. It turns them into grain and straw. Just make sure you save some for seeds the next year.

Kage not sure if you are aware of this, but everytime you chop a tree you will get feather also. Use your Inspector Mode and look around the base of the tree to find the feathers.

You aren’t supposed to hold the bow at full draw, that kind is supposed to be shot instinctively. I have two bows, a recurve which you can hold at full draw and a longbow. With the longbow you draw and loose within about three seconds, you get to know the bow with practice!

Use the extra stone you get from mining to make stone knives with sticks and you can sell them for good money considering how many resources it takes. Plus now with the new update you can find more stone lying on the ground. It's the best way to get money from your stone.

Alwin the farmer has a good quest line. He is in the main town. He will give 20 iron arrows. And you can fully recover them.

SO as far as the bow goes, I hate it too XD, but what i figured out is that when u successfully shoot the head or a or any vital part of the body, the animal will slow down and u can catch up, also the arrows will make the animal "Bleed" so it might still die if u are out of arrows :)

Try aiming just behind the neck and above the back of the deer. Increase the distance from the bottom of the aiming reticule for longer shots. And you can track your arrows in the survival view; it’s how I track the animals I’m hunting.

You can track arrows same as the spears with that sight. Taxes are paid on the new year, put food into the food storage, I believe it stops the spoilage. I feel like the price of firewood got nerfed, for 8 stacks x4 firewood each I’m only getting about 70 gold. I can collect 150-230 sticks in 3-5 minutes that sell for the exact count. 200 sticks = 200 gold. Far less time spent and unless you’re going for the crafting benefit of the firewood it feels like a huge waste of time.

Bow can also be made at work shop as well as crossbow, bro. :-) Took me a super long time to get feathers chopping trees. I set a bird trap last night but havent been in game to see how that turns out. I made my bow to finish a quest but the spears are still working for me. Stamina burn in this game is huge. And arrow seems to drop shorter than spear.

bows pretty realistic try useing a simple bow in RL you have to track deer down unless you hit major artery or the heart.. Shooting the head the arrow usually wont pen skull

Kage I think when you see the 155 in that 155 (0) means that's going to be the total amount of taxes you're going to have to pay later on because of everything you've built so for. The 0 on the other hand will probably be replaced with (155) to let you know that your taxes need to be paid.

Do you not creep when you're hunting? If you creep (hold C while walking), you can get a lot closer to the animals before they'll run off... then you don't have to estimate the angle, you just put the + on the target. And, I'd imagine you do more damage from closer range.

I don't know if the game reflects this but in Middle Ages in England it took quite a time of training for an adult to fully develop the muscle power and stamina to draw a proper war longbow. From Encyclopaedia Britannica: 'The best longbows were made of yew, might have required a force of as much as 150 to 180 pounds (70 to 80 kg) to draw, and shot arrows a cloth yard (about 37 inches, or 94 cm) long, with an effective range of some 450 to 1,000 feet (140 to 300 metres) depending on the weight of the arrow.' I wonder if you'll develop more stamina over time, in-game? Great vids - newly-subbed and following!

Talked to everyone in the building except the Tax man. Did you not notice the guy sitting at the table to your right as you entered? If you need rocks use your pick on all the small boulders on the ground and you will get rocks and limestone.

Onions are pretty good but I would grow cabbages. You can grow them in spring and summer and the meal you get is better than the onion one. The barn is where people you want to work your fields will go each day so i would keep them somewhat near your fields. Also, make sure you put food in the food storage house, your villagers will grab food from it, they seem to eat whatever the top inventory line is, and make sure you have firewood for them in your resource storage. I had that tax bug too, had to reload a previous save to get him to take the payment.

it looks like with the taxes, the parentheses is what you owe and it showed (0) I'm guessing that the 155 is the combined total and it'll appear it the parentheses when you owe? idk just my thought.
