One thing that I wanted to mention in the video is the lettering below the buttons has a tendency to rub off easily. What I recommend doing is putting a clear coat over the text. You could use something as simple as clear nail polish to get the job done. I went ahead and did that last night.

I saw a fair number of comments about smoke coming out of the oven. For any kind of ccoking that will create dripping grease/fat, i.e. rotisserie meats, bacon, steak, it is always best to put water in the drip tray. This way the fat/oil/grease will not burn and create smoke. It also make it so much easier to clean.
@TheFoodExperience2 жыл бұрын
That definitely is one way to get around it although it is not something that I practice. I tried to cook things below their smoke point so that smoke is not generated.

Having had my Maxx for a year there are some good things and then there are some not so good things. It does an excellent job over all with air frying and just about anything I can put in it. It gets used many times every week. The best has been the grill feature. Using the Maxx in combo with our Meater, our steaks come our cooked to perfection! Negative is even though we change the charcoal filter is does smoke a fair bit. Thats to be expected with any indoor grill. The worst part is the grill warped almost from the first use. Still works and grills fine, just has a hell of a warp. Never has had them in stock in the past year.

Also I forgot to mention Chef Jamie Gwen from The Food Network mentioned in one of her tutorials that you don’t have to preheat and just to pop in whatever you are cooking/baking into the air fryer which saves 30% of cooking. According to your video and many other videos I watched you mentioned preheat heating and once the air fryer stops blinking the air fryer is done pre heating. Should I preheat my oven or go straight to baking or cooking? I apologize for all of my questions but want to make sure I’m using my air fryer the correct way.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Definitely no need to apologize for asking questions. The only bad question is one that's never asked. I met Chef Jamie Gwen once about 15 or so years ago. I was in a different line of work and my company sent me as a representative to be on the radio for a computer spot. Next up was chef Jamie Gwen. She listened to me while she was driving into the radio station. She gave me a nice compliment on my voice. Very nice lady. Aside from that, yes you should always preheat. It definitely makes a difference.

I see you made this video in Feb. I'm wondering about longevity of the oven. I had another brand oven and it only lasted 8 months and died. I purchased my Kalorik Maxx from QVC and it had 5 star reviews but now there are a couple reviews that their ovens only lasted a few months. ugh! Have you had any issues?
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
As with any product there are going to be some duds out there. When I received my first max the doors were pretty misaligned. I contacted the company and even though it took a little while to hash out they replaced it for me. I didn't have to pay a dime for shipping or anything. Since receiving this replacement in February I have not had one issue with it. I use it practically every day. I really love this device to the Maxx, no pun intended.
@manalz113 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial. I learned 2 mistakes from your video Bc I rushed to make air fried chicken for the very first time using the Maxx air fryer. Of course I washed all of the accessories in soap and hot water. My 1st mistake is I didn’t burn in the oven and went straight to air frying my chicken. Since I didn’t do that step should I burn in the oven before I use my air fryer again? Second mistake is when I pulled out the air fryer out of the package I notice 2 metal parts in the styrofoam but assumed that wasn’t part of the accessories and just to secure the air fryer in it’s packaging. I purchased the Maxx 1 week ago and after watching your video I pulled the thumb screws out of the styrofoam. Tomorrow is garbage day and luckily I didn’t throw the box away yet. So thank you for this helpful information. I do have a question in regards to the air fryer. Is it normal to have a gap between the handles on the French doors and hot air escaping out of the gap?
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
The burning process is to make sure there are no manufacturing oils left inside before you cook. Even though you used it once I would still go ahead and do that stuff. That is definitely fortunate that you were able to save the screws before the trash collection came by. It definitely is normal to have a gap in between the French doors. It really doesn't seem to affect things. Thank you so much for tuning in and your comment. Always happy to answer people's questions.

You are very welcome. The label text for whatever choice you set should stop blinking and turn solid when the preheat is complete. Depending on the temperature that could take less or more time. For instance 350° in air fry mode takes about 5 minutes. Takes about 7 minutes to get to 400°. Takes about 10 minutes to get to 500 degrees. Thank you for the great review! I have 2 questions regarding presets: - if you change the presets ( time and temp) for any of the functions, are they remembered after the oven is turned off and turned back on again ? ...and - if you select a function (say TOAST) and the oven is turned off, does it stay in TOAST when the oven is turned back on ? This would be very useful to people who would use the oven in one mode a lot of the time so they won't have to re-select the preferred settings every time.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind thoughts and for watching my review. If you change the preset time and temperature for a function it is not remembered after the cycle is complete. additionally when the device is powered off and back on it does not go back to the previous function. I could see how that might be useful but to be honest I usually only use air fry or bake. A lot of the functions are just gimmicks and not really necessary. There are a few exceptions though. Steak mode is needed in order to air Fry at 500°. Broil is needed in oven mode to go up to 500 degrees with only the top heating elements. Dehydrate is needed to allow for a Time longer than 2 hours and a temperature low enough to dehydrate. Proofing is needed in bake mode to allow for a temperature low enough to proof dough. Aside from that none of the other functions are needed or necessary. I actually wish they would get rid of them.

Het Andy, Could you please share your experience as why you needed to get a replacement. My unit went dead and I new waiting for a replacement from Kalorik. Tbeg told me to expect it to come within 15 business days.
@TheFoodExperience2 жыл бұрын
I just had cosmetic issues with my first device. Not even really anything I should have been too concerned about except for that I was going to be showing it on video over and over again and I didn't like the way the doors were hung. The replacement lasted me almost a year before I decided to upgrade to the new grill version. Both devices work excellent. As far as the devices dying and not powering up anymore I have learned it's a thermal fuse inside the device that blows due to overheating. I don't have the specifics but I know a couple people ever replaced those fuses which have to be soldered in and their devices come right back to life.

Does the crumb tray go above or below the bottom heating element
@TheFoodExperience6 ай бұрын
The silver crumb tray goes below the heating elements. I have heard of people putting the tray on top of them and it usually is bad news for either the oven or the tray.

Would it be okay to place the oven underneath a microwave. About 1 foot in between the two.

That should be fine as long as there is adequate ventilation on the sides and the rear. I would try to keep at least 6 in for ventilation space all the way around.

You mentioned having to replace your first Maxx oven. What was the issue? I have spent the last few months researching air fryer ovens and will be making my decision soon.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alma, thank you for checking out my video and for your comment. The doors with the first device I received were misaligned. They did not affect the cooking at all. If it were not the fact that I intended to use the device for video footage I probably would not have minded so much. It was definitely a very nitpicking thing as far as I'm concerned. Since receiving this second one in February I have not experienced one issue with it and I am very happy with my purchase. This was an upgrade from my first air fryer oven. The first one was a Cuisinart TOA 60. I also thoroughly enjoyed that device but wanted something a little larger with a rotisserie. The Maxx definitely pulled through and I definitely feel comfortable recommending it.

@@TheFoodExperience I appreciate your prompt response. Do you think it is worth spending an extra $40 for the one with 9 accessories vs the one with 7?
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
@@almataylor7977 I have heard there are two different versions being sold. I guess Costco may have one available with less accessories. Maybe that's the difference from the seven to the nine accessories. I'm not sure there may be other stores participating in that as well. I'm not sure which accessories are included with the version that includes seven. I just ordered the standard version from Kalorik. Mine definitely includes the steak tray which I believe is super useful if you're going to cook any kind of meats. I'm not sure if the scaled down version comes with that tray. The bacon tray I could certainly do without and don't really use it much. I mostly use the steak tray to cook the bacon on.

You can put all the accessories into the dishwasher besides the crumb tray. I can't say 100% for certain because I really don't dishwash those accessories. This is just coming from learned knowledge of others.

2 things: are the heating elements infrared or resistance? and how long does it take to preheat up to, say 400F?
@TheFoodExperience4 ай бұрын
I'm not exactly sure how to answer that. The heating rods are made of some kind of metal substance. I don't think they're infrared. To preheat to 400° I'm guessing takes around 5 or 6 minutes. I don't have that unit anymore but that's going from memory.

I Just bought this oven, I'm finding a lot of smoke coming out of the doors seals. Please let me know if this is normal or there is a faulty that I need to address??
@TheFoodExperience2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you are cooking and the method in which you are cooking the food. Does the smoke happen even when not cooking anything'? If there is smoke when there is no food present then I would exchange the device if possible. If it only happens when cooking please give me an example of what you were cooking, the type of tray or rack(s) being used and their positions. Also let me know the mode and temp you are using.

Hi, how to keep the air fryer clean after cooking?
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Dawn Powerwash works really well if you clean it after each use. After that I usually run a 20 minute cycle at 500F. If the Maxx goes uncleaned for a while then it is tougher to clean and will require other techniques.

Can you use silicone trays in the air fryer made??
@TheFoodExperience11 ай бұрын
Silicone is definitely safe to use provided it is rated for the temperature you are cooking at. If you're going to use it in the air fryer basket though and also air fry food you're going to lose some of the benefits since the air won't be able to circulate and hit the bottom of the food.

Where do I purchase the charcoal replacement filter and how long do they last(Approximately)?

This particular device does not use a charcoal filter. The grill version of the device does. Honestly I don't even notice a difference when using or not using the filter. How do you clean this air fryer? I have the same Kalorik air fryer and have used it for about 2 years so far. Now mine discolours and gets dirty but I don’t know how to deep-clean this air fryer.
@TheFoodExperience10 ай бұрын
The thing with these air fryers is very important that it is cleaned after each and every use. Once you let it go for a long time it is next to impossible to get clean. You can try a mixture of half white vinegar and half baking soda. Use the back side of a sponge, the scrubbing side and try not to get the interior too wet. It's going to take a lot of elbow grease though because after 2 years all that stuff kind of turns into an enamel on the walls of the oven.

Does the round spiral heating element on the top supposed to glow red when using air fry mode? Mine does not, only the straight elements glow, the round spiral one stays black.

What looks to be like a round spiral heating element is not really a heating element at all. It is not supposed to glow. I'm not sure what it's exact purposes but what you are describing is completely normal.

@@TheFoodExperience I actually tested it this morning. I turned on steak mode for 20 seconds, opened the door, touched the spiral element and it was hot. So it indeed heats up just not hot enough to glow red.

@@tgy119 that is definitely brave trying to touch the element. I'm just not sure the significance of it. I should try to activate air fry mode and then hit it with a temperature probe on the straight elements and then the spiral.

Thanks for checking out my video Kim. Do you mean the black drip pan or the silver crumb tray? Either case they should both fit in there comfortably. The doors are not the sturdiest but they should stay in place ok. The first one I bought the doors were misaligned. Kalorik replaced it with this one which was better. I also noticed with the original device the trays were really tight and the replacement device the trays fit in a lot easier.
