L&L We just received Maxx and I was frustrated with the directions, so I figured there had to be an easier way. After searching I found your site and watching a few videos I am satisfied with the way you explain how to use it and don't be afraid of using your own mind and figure out what to do with temp adjusting and times. Great videos and very informative.

Just a suggestion, I have a kalorik too and I put water in that bottom drip or splash pan and what a difference with smoke and splatter. Also, the closer up under the less mess for sure. Give it a try with anything really greasy and you will be much happier with the cleanup and less smoke. Oh yeah, also thanks for the tip...the lower temp for the bacon definitely works better for evenly cooked bacon for sure.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Good point for sure. I have heard of people using water in the drip pan. There is 1 issue with that though. When I am finished cooking bacon, I drain the grease from the pan into a grease bucket. The grease hardens and I have been using the same container for the grease for a couple years. With water mixed in with the grease it is not going to harden so easily and may lead to a funky smell. I do it this way because it is never good to put grease down a drain. I personally do not mind what little smoke comes out , which in my case has been very minimal at best. I guess everything has its trade-offs you could say.
@JR-Rollin3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for sure...If you save and use your grease then that's not good but if you dispose of it, it works great. I don't pour it down the drain either, definitely don't want issues from that. But for steaks or chicken if you don't save the grease it is a night and day difference for sure cleanup and smoke wise.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
@@JR-Rollin I could definitely see that would be an excellent idea for chicken and steak. Definitely will give it a try with those items next time. I do appreciate the tip.

Thank you so much for the kind thoughts Anne. I've done a lot more testing since this video and I am about to upload a new video which has a Bacon example amongst other foods. I find that bacon really does cook the best at 360° F or 182.222 C. I usually use either the Fry basket or the steak tray.. That's really cool that an Aussie is tuning in.

I have a comment on the steak preset. The demo I saw on hsn showed you should preheat with the pan inside. Then you put the steak on to sear the outside and add grill marks.
@TheFoodExperience Жыл бұрын
It depends which device you have. If you have the original Maxx then I recommend watching my New York steak video. Basically you turn on steak mode for 500°. At the same time you want to have the steak tray and drip pan comboed together in the regular air fry slot. The preheat is complete when the steak stops flashing on the display. Then slide out the tray and insert the steak. Cook for maybe 4 to 5 minutes and flip. That's about that.

I just bought the Kalorik Maxx and watched some of your tutorials and I'm glad that I did. My biggest gripe would be that the manufacturer didn't stamp the button functions into the metal as they did their name brand. That way greasy fingers won't eventually smear the very poor quality printing ink.
@TheFoodExperience3 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree with you on that. I really do wonder why they did not stamp them in the metal. Totally would have been a lot more effective.

Have had mine just a short time ... do you use aluminum foil in basket ? and how do you gage Stauffer's and other meals in air fryer. Thank U
@TheFoodExperience11 ай бұрын
I do not use aluminum foil in the air fryer basket. They say when your air frying to never use foil. However when you are using it as an oven in bake mode then you can use foil. As far as frozen meals are concerned you really don't want to air fry them. You want to use the bake feature. The reason being is that those meals are designed to be baked which means the upper and lower sets of heating elements are on. When you use air fry only the upper set of heating elements are on. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thanks! We just picked one up and first thing I looked up was a bacon recipe. I think I read in the manual that you can change the presets to whatever you want? So I'm thinking I will change my preset to your 7 min, 355* setting.

You're very welcome. I need to update and put a new video up regarding the bacon. After trying different experiments I find that the bacon tray sitting inside of the drip pan at 360° works great. Also it is very important to preheat the Maxx. Just set a few extra minutes and wait for the label for whatever function you are using to stop blinking and turn solid before putting the bacon in. I would enjoy hearing how it came out if you feel like updating me after that.

Thank You! We just purchased one and thinking about frying bacon. As far as post fry cleaning, do you know if placing foil over the bacon makes any difference or do you think that would will alter the frying process? TIA!
@TheFoodExperience9 ай бұрын
You are very welcome! It is not recommended to use foil when using airfry mode. The foil could break loose and get caught up in the air fryer fan and also the heating elements. I highly do not recommend that.

Depending where you bought it it comes with different accessories. Honestly you're not missing much. Since this video I can honestly say that pre-heating to 360°then inserting the basketful of bacon yields the best results. Depending on the doneness you prefer it could take anywhere from five to eight minutes to cook, no flipping necessary.

Bacon's cooked crispness and ones preference in regards to this, is a personal thing! Whatever one likes best is best for them, when it comes to cooked/cooking bacon! NOT EVERY SINGLE PERSON WANTS THEIR FOOD ITEMS, COOKED EXACTLY THE SAME/SAME DONENESS/OR THE SAME WAY/STYLE OF COOKING!

Absolutely agreed, different strokes for different folks. What's up with the ALL CAPS? LOL

I never preheat my oven. Also, if you don’t flip the bacon, as the manual says, then the 9 minute mark at 425 doesn’t work. If you do follow the manual instructions then 425 at 9 minutes yields perfect bacon every time. Hey, if you’re not going to follow instructions then you can’t gripe when it’s not working for you.
@TheFoodExperience2 жыл бұрын
LOL manual is not right. Bacon should be cooked at 400 regularly, in AF mode, 360 works best. Have a nice day. 😊
@TheFoodExperience2 жыл бұрын
Also if you never preheat that tells me a lot about you. Ovens should be preheated and the Maxx has a preheat capability built in. Also if you noticed most anything you cook a preheat is optimal. No one wants to start off with a cold oven. That's why recipes tell you to preheat the oven first. At least 99% of them.
