This is yet another state I would just assume “get through” to somethIng else, but as with more than a few of your other videos covering the Midwest, I now see there is more than meets the eye from the interstate….and one long day many years ago when a daylong headwind and a radio that scanned endlessly without any hope of finding a station to rest on made Kansas into the twilight zone.

Should you ever find yourself in Chapel Hill, NC, there is a small restaurant called, “the pig” which offers a variation of the Cuban sandwich they call the “Carolina Cubano”. I believe it’s one of the best sandwiches in Chapel Hill and not far from I-40 if you’re passing through. Once I retire I’ll be out there on the road myself, and if our paths should ever happen to cross I would love to have some advice from you about Cuban music. Take care.

Thank you so much for this episode, Robert! I find most of your videos inspiring but this one is truly heartwarming for me. Genuine vodka! Do you know that sometimes it may be hard to find a good quality vodka in Russia? Delicious BBQ! I overwhelmingly enjoy cooking meat, especially on fire. Riding along LRT line! This reminded me of the days I had been a light rail operator driving wonderful old Czechoslovakian Tatra streetcars on the streets of Volgograd (look at my avatar). Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Great video of our hometown here in KC. Love the burnt ends, it's our specialty. And Joes is one of the best. My wife is actually from Platte City and her Dad is friends with the owner of Basswood Lake. It was a much smaller place when she was going there though. Thanks for showing so much of our town- it's so often overlooked but has so much to offer. Peace and Safe Travels.

Another great video Robert! Glad to see you visited Monument Rocks. Certainly an interesting formation but it's a bit off the road. We spent several days in Kansas several years visiting many of the sites their Tourism Board publicized including Monument Rocks. We were impressed by the state's ability to convince us to drive miles out of the way to some backroads site where we spent just a few minutes. Monument Rocks was perhaps the best of these little-visited sites. Reminded us of how Wall Drug convinces so many people to visit them. :) Both states are beautiful places to drive and enjoy the Great Plains but they do provide a chuckle now and then.

Goooood Morning Robert! Nice to spend a little time in Kansas with you. As you drove past Oakley there was a brief glimpse of the giant Buffalo Bill statue--the cultural center there is worth a stop. You had quite a crowd at Monument Rocks...when I was there I had the place to myself. Well, okay, there might have been one or two cows :-) I missed out on all the stuff you saw in Wichita but I did see the Museum of World Treasures which has lots of neat stuff. That BBQ you had looks delicious...yum! Boulevard Brewing...I love their Double Wide IPA. Next time you make it back to Kansas City MO, try to visit the Arabia Steamboat Museum. It is, as you would say, fascinating! Happy Trails!
