My mom always cut up her own chickens....and made a piece with the wishbone in it special for me. She could do it in the blink of an eye. Your seasonings are just like hers and she put the flour mixture in a paper bag and shook the chicken a couple of pieces at a time. Yours looks so good. My lifelong best friend still talks about my mom's fried chicken. It was so good left over, cold from the refrigerator the next day. I'm going to have to make some now.....

Yep mama dredged each chicken piece in scrambled egg wash. Then shook the chicken in a paper poke of seasoned flour before frying it... So delicious!

It's refreshing to see someone else cook old fashioned - southern. My mom being from Ala., taught me everything, I'm now 75 and added my touch to her recipes knowing most from memory and out of my heart - I'm saying thankyou for reminding me of true southern cooking!!! There's no young women that know how to properly cut-up a chicken or make biscuits or cornbread, most don't even own a good cookbook!!! We're almost old dinosaurs😂

She moved there from Michigan where I live. I sure do miss her. I feel like visiting so I can get some good ole southern fried chicken. I don't fry foods anymore but it sure would be nice to make that trip to Alabama for family reunion and good food! Southern food is comfort for me!!! I will have to try your dressing also for Thanksgiving.

This is by far the BEST fried chicken tutorial I've seen on KZbin, or indeed by any professional chef - BRAVO! We love fried chicken here in England, and sometimes grab some KFC as a takeout treat. But you've shown me how easy it is to get a wonderful result at home, and freshly-cooked is always better than take out. So I will be following your recipe to the letter, and if it looks even half as delicious as yours turned out, I'll be a happy lady! I wonder Karen - do you have a recipe for your gravy on the channel? I would find that so useful, as the menfolk here just love their gravies and sauces, but I find rustling them up out of nothing quite a challenge if there's no roast meat for the juices! Thank you for your hard work in creating such invaluable cookery videos, you are performing such a useful public service and helping many people feed themselves and their families. That's more important than ever, during this new, cost of living crisis. You're a superstar. Much love to you from a new sub in the UK. XXX

Love right back our new friend. Welcome to our family. ❤️if I don't have meat juices I use broth or stock in place. Add flour to fat equal parts, liquid your desired consistency. Salt pepper to taste. For brown gravy I add a brown gravy powder to it with a touch of balsamic vinegar, not to much. Sometimes even a little left over morning coffee for some of the liquid. For white gravy use milk for the liquid. ❤️

I like your cooking. It is very similar to my mother and grandmother style. Same reipes. I use my grandmothers bread board, dough bowl and 2 tine cooking fork and sifter. I don't have recipes. I learned by show and tell. I did not cook whole real meals while my father was alive because he wanted only my moms cooking. But after i was let loose in the kitchen I turned into a gourmet cook. My basic recipes are just like yours. Everbody loves your food. We have a big garden so i get lots of good stuff to fix. You certainly inspire me to keep fixing real food. Thanks.

Thank you for explaining everything that you are doing step by step. I could have learned so much from my mom and grandma about cooking and baking but I was to busy playing sports and trying to do everything that my brother's did. Then when I got married my husband loved to cook and bake and he was very good at it. In 2016 my husband passed away and that was when I truly realized that I couldn't put a very simple dinner together. I refuse to accept that so I have been learning to cook and bake. I have learned a lot from you. Thank you again.

What a great idea to put hot sauce in the milk bath....gonna give that a try. Wow, you made me hungry...lol. Wish I could have joined you for dinner too...lol. Nothing better than a pan of fried chicken.

O wish you could be here with me for dinner also. I'm sure we'd enjoy it. 😉 The hot sauce just gives it a yummy taste. Thanks for watching.
