New subscriber here from.Laurens South Carolina. My aunt's used to fix me, my late brother and sister macaroni and tomatoes all the time. My mama was in and out of the hospital alot due to kidney disease. My mama was deaf all of our lives but nobody could cook like my mama.She cooked biscuits every morning before she went to work...with fatback , gravy, eggs, bacon , grits and at times fresh tomatoes or cantaloupe . She'd bake cakes and cookies every day for every kid in the neighborhood. My mama was the sweetest and strongest person I ever knew. When Starla started singing Amazing Grace, I started crying...then when both of you were singing together ...I cried harder. I was always the singer in my family. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I feel God lead me to your channel Kathy. .I sang Amazing Grace at a brother in law's funeral yrs ago. I'll probably be singing it until I go to bed. God Bless you both 🙏 ♥

I was raised on macaroni and tomatoes!!! It's been a favorite of ours throughout our family. My mom cooked it without butter and onions but I add onions. We all love it soo much!! It's very easy on the budget as well. Thank you for sharing this! You both are very lovely ladies and Kathy, you are right. Starland does have the voice of an angel. Both of you sound really great together. Awesome!!! ❤

I have made this all my life but never put any butter in it…I am going to do that next time I make it. I put Lawry’s Seasoning Salt in mine, and that gives it a nice flavor in my opinion. I love love love Macaroni and Tomatoes!

I add sugar to mine! Bacon grease was also used often instead of butter! Cornbread was also a staple served with it!

I went to make this a little bit earlier today, as it reminds me of my late grandmother, who served this often. After I got started, I realized I didn't have any regular diced tomatoes in the cabinet, so I used a can of fire roasted Rotel instead. Other than that substitution, I followed your recipe exactly. It came out delicious. It was a little more spicy than my grandma made because of the Rotel, but it was still very good. Thank you for sharing the recipe. The next time I put this together, I'll be sure to have some regular diced tomatoes in the pantry.
