..nice..doing martial arts not to fight but to express ones self...

agree. I stopped martial arts for almost 10 years due to injuries and lost interest in it for fighting.....After gymlife for a long time I got bored of it, and noticed my flexibility had become crap. So now picking up martial arts again just for health purpose. The old masters were right. Even things like forms or kata are good when one does it for health

I sure started off using bare knuckles. Like maybe 2 to 5% power to it because my knuckles were very small and dense. Even that was painful lol that was a year ago now. Only go 40% on heavy bag or maybe less than that bare hands. Thanks to this broken left hand of mine. It tought me to be more control of my punches. Like I'll still punch with my left hand, but stop right before it connects and pull back. Almost like throwing a fake punch. P.s. I'd took your advice and ordered weights for my wrist, so I can use it for shadowboxing P.s.s. using 4 combo pivet into my routine with those weights. Thank you again!

Coach Chez, what's your take on a Philly Shell defense in boxing/MMA? On another note, what's your reach? I'm currently 5'7'' as well with a long armspan like you, and I try to emulate your shadowboxing and footwork. Much love from 🇵🇭. Godbless.

the way i practice combinations in video games is when i use my closer arm for fast reach then i look at what could i do in that situation and i cant bring it back as fast as i can push with it for defence or slip and gather it or use my other arm for another punch and so on

I am addicted to bjj and jumping rope. Anywhere I go I bring a rope and Google bjj schools where I can train at... I don't train for a competition... I just train for life...🤔. Great content and great channel.

Bro footwork does not click for me. I have knee valgus and I feel like it really hinders my foot work or balance. Any advice ?
@CHEZCANTERE5 ай бұрын
This is my suggestion. You would have to do a mix of stretching, strength exercises to correct some imbalances then lots of running. This is just my suggestion

I never had knee valgus but my knee was keeping like 60 cl (like 2 cans of cola) of liquid time to time so I had a surgery, to polish my meniscus, years ago. I had a lot of rehabilitation, which consisted of working with weights using all kind of leg machines and squats (which you can do at home). After that I was able to practice bjj for 3 years and nowadays I just started Boxing twice a week, a month ago, and some days grappling. I feel fine, only that I need to get more muscles in the quadriceps and knee area, as also it feels weird a little when I “crouch”, but I am certain is only a matter of keeping the pressure with good amount of muscles. Also in the meantime use some sport cover for your knee, as it will compress it as your muscles would do. And go slow first.
