It was completely our pleasure to host y’all, and truly the highlight of our vacation was spending time and getting to know all of you ❤️🥰. So sorry your trail turned into a river.

That was so wonderful of you both for taking the whole group of hikers under your wing. I can only imagine the volumes of food you had to cook to fill them up! 😂 I’m sure they missed you so, so much when you left! Well done! 🙂

Looking at all that gear hanging in the shelter, I am reminded that nothing dries in a rainstorm when the air is near 100% humidity. A bag liner would dry more quickly if it's wrapped around you until it's bedtime. Gear will drip excess water, so hanging it is good if it's waterproof, but, with insulated or woven gear, the bulk of the moisture simply migrates to the bottom of the item, helped by gravity until it slowly drips (but will not dry). Wringing out the wettest part helps, but, hey, the AT is almost always wet at some point. Short section hikes are still the best way to hike the length of the AT: you can work your schedule around the weather. Lately, my section hikes have become longer and longer as I move farther away from home with each one. I would like to attempt an AT thruhike when I finish the Trail next year, but age, arthritis, and old injuries might make it impossible. It's great to be able to watch young people do it and actually enjoy it (I know, it's the company, not the climbs, descents, rain and mud 😁). Your group dynamics make me smile and sometimes shed a tear. 👍

Gorham! I worked there construction at what was called "The Mill" for about six weeks. That was over 20 years ago. Thanks for the flash backs! Who, in their right minds, puts a trail right on a "river"?? I see Megan was still with you! Stay well!!

It looks like the fall colors were getting nice at that time. It's was a good call to stay in the shelter. No point to being miserable in the rain if you don't have to be.

Morning Kelly! And quack to you Mr Toasty! I really loved that tea bag quote. I’m gonna remember that one. Finally some “typical” weather! At least it came at the end of the Whites. September was a very atypical weather month, and I was very happy for it but as sadistic as it sounds I’m glad you got some “normal” weather. Huge thanks to Momma and Papa Popeye! You guys are RV legends! Now that all the boys are back I’m gonna guess we will see way more breaks! I hope you were able to keep them moving! Fall is starting to pop in your videos, I know the next 2 weeks are going to be fantastic! Bummer about your pack liner. I actually switched to a heavier one because I got a hole in my nylofume one. I decided I’d rather carry an extra ounce of bag than an ounce of water on my sleeping bag! I hope you got the hole fixed! Someone must have some duct tape, tenacious tape, or KT tape. 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful

Did you ever figure out what gave you that rash???
@kellyhays233 жыл бұрын
Perioral dermatitis. Likely caused by hormonal imbalance and extreme stress on my body. I took an antibiotic when I got home and got some face creams from the dermatologist and it has since cleared up
