Fil, I've always known that you take an objective and honest approach in your analysis videos. To me, it doesn't sound like Ken Tamplin has "come clean" about his miming. It sounded more like he was rationalizing and being retaliative; the latter of which I now understand why you needed to make this video. It's too bad that he disrespected your integrity; apparently he has none. You brought the voice of reason and respect as well as the objective proof in this video. As for why he deleted videos that could have benefitted him, I remember this phrase: "There's no making sense of the senseless." I'm not into drama either so I'm glad you decided to move on to other analysis videos. Thanks for all you do, and for being YOU, Fil!

Fil bought a voice of reason and Ken bought a voice that he prerecorded in 1989.
@ItsNotaTuhmah3 ай бұрын
His admission is a lie. The recorded track was set roughly at the same volume as the moments he is singing, so they knew beforehand and rehearsed it that way; Ken would be silent in some moments, where lead vocals would do the job and Ken would sing when the lead vocals WOULDN'T be there. If all backing tracks (including some lead vocals in) were intended to be backing the band up , then we would notice the difference between the moments Ken's actually adding his voice to the backing tracks and when he ISN'T, which we DON'T. Also, it's something nearly impossible for the audience to notice, no matter if they are too close to the stage or not, because vocals don't come out of a particular amplifier like guitar or bass do so you can check it out by getting closer to that particular source, but they come out from the PA system, whose output is the same as the prerecorded tracks. As the band did its homework and did soundcheck, they had leveled out those vocals there. That's the proof that Ken actually did lipsync. If not, 2 things would happen: - People (live and from video footage) would hear both vocals going on (which we don't) - If, as Ken himself posted, he can't reach some notes and let the "backing track" do the job just in very few moments, then a difference on volume would be noticeable. which doesn't happen. We can see on the videos that he closes his mouth and vocals still can be heard with the same output level. Ken is still lying.

I am a studio engineer with decades of experience, and it looks to me like you are on solid ground here; using scientific methodology and using it properly. I was struck by Mr. Tamplin saying, "That is me singing". That comment is a sidestep which does not at all disprove your point: if he patched in some of his previously recorded studio vocal tracks to cover errors or flaws in his live performance, well yes, he can honestly say "that is me singing". The problem of course being that it does not address whether it is him singing live at the time of the performance. The guitar playing examples were quite telling as well. I think your research is solid. Thank you for the videos.

My son, a good musician and singer, several years ago started watching Ken's videos to work on his vocals. Definitely not saying he did not learn anything, but he soon saw some things himself that made him question some parts of what he was watching. At first he did not make a big deal that some of the playing and singing were recorded. His attitude was whatever, but he did feel, after someone made some comments, that something was not right. He started feeling uncomfortable from the honest side of things, and decided to move on. Honesty means a lot to him. Still, he had no proof, so he left it alone. Still, when I saw the first video related to this and sent it to him, he was very upset and said some not nice things. This had apparently been seething in him for a while. He was straight angry, saying, "I knew it! I'm glad there finally is some real proof!" I have watched Fil's videos for a good while, and within the last year have subscribed. It's one of the few things I watch pretty regularly. Truth and honesty are hard to find!
