Hi Kendall. Can you look at my sister Melissa's unsolved (we know who did it) case? Georgia Marie did a video on her case and my family is trying to bring awareness to it. 💜 The video is called What Happened to Melissa Platt Midweek Mystery. I sent you a message on IG on it. My family was able to get copies of police interviews with the man responsible and additional pictures of my sister when she was first admitted in the hospital that I didn't have available for Georgia's video. Please 🙏 My sister was left for days in unimaginable pain laying in her own urine and feces. She was covered head to toe in bruises of varying age, her jaw was broken in two places, and she had a brain bleed, also a strangulation mark on her neck.

4:07 Hi so I’m Russian and even though the handwriting was hard to read, I could make out some parts It said something about how they were already spotted twice by the police Later it said something about how they spent the night at a station and how they got on a bus in the morning to some (place) but I couldn’t make out what place it was. that’s all I could make out of the first page The second page was a lot more difficult to read, but I tried It said something about how they spent all night talking about love, friendship, and other things which I could not make out (sorry). This diary belonged to a woman. Because in Russian, if you are a woman or you talk or write about a woman you have different endings to the verbs you use. You add an “a” at the end of the verb. If you are a man or you talk or write about a man you don’t add an “a”.

I’m a Russian girl and I’ve read numerous books on this mystery. You’re missing a few key points... the students were also super smart and many were in the science field and were in fact testing some radioactive technologies. The common theory is that the government or some high profile group like the Russian KGB, were onto the technologies and hit men were hired to get rid of them. There’s another photo that shows a man in the woods... it’s such a bizarre event. The photos of the hikers was horrifying.

Right?, I’m thinking that there was more photos but the government possibly has them hidden, and maybe the reason why their fingers we’re gone or removed was because they tried to call for help, and the guy who had his eyes and tongue removed is possible that he saw something he wasn’t supposed to see and I’m thinking that his eyes were removed first and as a last resort he screamed for help thus making what ever caused their deaths to remove his tongue

Yuri K has been arrested because was collecting money for ... ( can not read the word) .Was funny. After we went Severov - Avdenj . Arrived at Ivdelja slept in railway station. Got on the bus in morning. Arrived at some hotel in Ivdele.( end of first page) sing a songs. Arrived at Vizai. In the beginning stayed at the same club we were 2 years ago. After we were taken to hotel. We were talking all evening. Was. ... about love and friendship and other things. I read an interesting theory: Considering this was the 1950's USSR many of the men in the group underwent military training, the oldest in the group was even a WW2 veteran. And during wars when a night time bombing run is about to happen very bright flares are thrown from a plane onto an area so the bomber planes could see where to drop the bombs. This theory says that such flares were dropped onto the mountains pass, probably for testing the flares themselves not even the bombs, which is supported by a few witnesses that say they saw bright lights and also the blurred last photograph, and it could potentionally explain the burned tree tops. The military trained men noticed those in the night and panicked thinking they were about to get bombed, slashed the tent open and told everyone to get the hell out of there, they didnt get to collect any clothes as there wasnt a time for it and panicked ran away from the hill, after a while they regrouped believing they still have enough time to walk down the hill without getting hurt, and went down to the forest. It is also said that roughly the same distance they went from the tent that night was the distance from their storage stash they made the day before (before they went up the hill, they made a little stash where they stored food and probably other supplies to make their backpacks lighter for the hike), they probably wanted to reach it but went into the wrong direction, which could explain why they tried to climb the tree to see properly where they were. This could be a good explanation of why they left the tent in such a hurry and didnt collect any clothes or even shoes, as they thought their very life was at stake. What happened after is only sort of a mystery. We know that three members of the group died either on the way away from the tent or on an attempt to return to it, 2 of the men tried to climb a tree but got wounded and were so cold that even burning themselves from a fire they or they and their friends started by the tree didnt save them. The survivors took their clothes and tried to hide from the wind in a ravine, trying to dig dens for themselves to hide in, but either they fell or the snow mass colapsed on them crushing them. This theory combines many different factors - bad weather, strong wind, bright lights, getting hurt from falling off a tree and having tons of snow collapse on you. As for the radiation, it was said that only 3 pieces of their clothing was actually radioactive, and the 2 men to whom said clothing belonged to were known to have worked in a plutonium plant, and were present during a 1957 incident where massive amounts of radiation escaped the plant - explaining their radioactive clothes.

okay but.....how do you explain the tongue, mangled hands, crushed in rib cage? The skin in the trees, I can kind of help explain. Its similar to when you lick a pole in winter and get your tongue stuck. Which, producing more saliva will help you get unstuck. My personal experience trying to climb things in the dead of winter, with skin super dry from the cold, my skin had come off and stuck to what I was climbing. skin easily rips when too dry in the cold. Obviously I didn't die, so my skin grew back. It helps that the seasons change where I live, so I am not in winter all year-round.

The eyes and soft tissue are easily explained by animals. Small animals, not predators will scavenge corpses and eat the soft tissues. Animals like birds for example. It's easier for them to peck out the eyeballs and tongue. And as for the flesh in the trees. The cold probability nummed their fingers and they didn't realise how aggressively they were trying to climb. Adrenaline was probably also a factor

I know this is old but I have a theory. I got hung up on in the detail you mentioned about them stocking up on a lot of bread before venturing out that fateful day. I remember a story about bad bread causing an entire town in France to become extremely ill, causing hallucinations, panic, and even sensations of burning. I think it was called Ergot poisoning. Ok I just paused this to look it up lol. In Smithsonite magazine, there’s an article called “How Deadly Bread Bewitched a Village” Now what if something they purchased and were eating all day caused them to get sick in the night and start having hallucinations. It’s possible they could have inflicted some injuries to themselves, some to each other, and some were cause afterwards by animals. It would explain a lot. Not sure about the radiation though. Perhaps there was government stuff going on too and it was a combination of both. Stranger things have happened.

I do like this theory. I’ve always thought about how scary it would be to start having hallucinations when you would have no reason to (not taking any hallucinogen yourself). And then not being the only one hallucinating would make it worse. Then imagine hearing bombs going off in the sky while hallucinating?! Fuuuck that, I would run too! Also explains the burned tree tops and why the government was so quick to cover it up.

my daughters best friends sister was murdered after a night out with friends. Her name was Kenya Monge, she was only 19 years old. The man that murdered her was caught, he tried to play a good Samaritan, but eventually was caught because he tried to murder and burn another woman, but she escaped out of a window and was able to survive. Eventually he lead the police to her body. I feel it is a very important story to cover because it just highlights the dangers of people, and how important it is as a woman to stick with friends. Actually if you are in the cold and in a sleeping bag you should sleep with as less cloth on as possible. If you are fully naked is the best. Story one: Hi. Medical field here. That sounds like damage from a pressure wave. The damage to the lungs can happen if you are hit by a sufficiently strong pressure wave, and you don't have your mouth open. Without an easy way out, it sort of bounces around inside you. It also explains the foaming blood from the mouth, which is a classic example of lung damage. The eyes however, are from birds. Soft tissue is always eaten first, and birds love eyes and tongues.

Wow, that’s actually a really good theory. I like the parachute mine theory the most, but your comment has me rethinking. It’s impossible to know exactly what happened, but I think we can agree on the circumstances. Here’s my personal theory.. The Soviets were doing some kind of testing out there, what, we don’t know. But I think those hikers saw something they weren’t supposed to see or had entered some forbidden territory, hence the guy grabbing the camera and trying to photograph it. Their campsite was raided, they panicked and tried to escape (maybe forced to strip naked, or undressed themselves due to paradoxical undressing) and fled for their lives. The two guys tried to climb a tree to hide but were unsuccessful. As they ran the group got split up and they were killed by the KGB or whoever attacked them. Whatever testing was going on would explain the radiation, and if there’s radiation involved you know this was top secret. Then of course the guy with the least injuries found in that position, possibly because he played dead and the attackers left him be.

Here’s my theory: The hikers fell upon a highly radioactive site from nuclear weapons testing. Being exposed over many days caused paranoia and madness in the hikers. They may have seen things that weren’t there, been scared of things that werent happening, and possibly turned on eachother. The men with the mutilated hands may have torn the eyes from the 2 month old hikers and the other hikers may have just unclothed by that freezing mania Kendall talked about. The government is DEFINITELY covering something up. Russia and the KGB are highly suspicious and cover ups are nothing new for them.

Hi, another russian speaker here, I translated pages from the dairy. It was written by a woman, and there were some things I couldnt see clearly\ot they could be lost in translation, so I put notes in brackets) so what I could make out was "We spent a night at the train station, set the tent up on the floor. Yes, we've been noticed by the police twice. Once Yura was taken to the police station, he tried to get some money to buy some candy, that was funny. After that we took the train Serov-Ivdel', spent the night at the train station, took the bus in the morning and got to some hotel in Ivdel'. Then we got on (can't see clearly what the word is, but i assume it was about transportation) , sang songs and arrived to Vizhai. At first we stayed at the club where we were at 2 years ago, after that we were brought to the hotel. We spent the whole evening talking, there was discussions about love, friendship, dances etc. I talked a lot about the things that were so out of character for me, I was trying sometimes, but ___ (can't read it properly), but it was genuinely getting out of me. (in a way, she couldn't hold it inside). But it's all malarkey...." Can I just add that it's written really weirdly imo...Not to bring out some conspiracy, but to me it seems like not very natural russian speech, ofc maybe it was her second language\she wasn't a "writer" kind of person.

First off - I think footprints kills the avalanche theory. I usually resort to logical conclusions when it comes to cases like this but my gut tells me with this case something very strange was going on. I think that something had to have really scared the hikers - whether that was the wind vortex, indigenous people, yeti, parachute mines, etc... they wouldnt have left in a hurry like that for no reason as experienced hikers. The tongue & eyes being gone is what really gets me. Have scientists concluded when those were removed? Like post mortem vs before death? I suppose maybe an animal like a bear or even a yeti or indigenous people could have removed those parts after death but again - we would need more info to know that but obviously the russian government wont give us that.

They probably ran into a secret hiding of a ring of organized criminals, who attempted to stage it to make it look like it was an animal attack. They already probably had hypothermia but the attackers didn't want to risk being discovered or what they were doing to be discovered. It's not at all an animal attack as the maimings of the victims were specifically done to the head area and hands.

They were found in two groups. The first five were found in the wooded area and the last four were found in a makes his snow den, which shows how experienced they were. They knew the proper way to build a den out of snow to help them survive, yet they didn’t. One of the first five was found with a piece of his hand bitten off. It was found out he did this to himself. The piece was found still in his mouth. Most believe he bite down on his hand to keep from screaming out of fear. The official cause is he bit into his hand to test how numb it was. One was found with her nose missing, no other signs of animal activity, just the nose. Official cause animal. Now I will try to say this part in a way not to upset anyone. Animals eat their prey in a certain order, prime areas first and least areas last, no matter the source. Prime areas are the soft meaty areas , stomach first, thighs so on. Last areas are bony areas, lower limbs and head. If an animal found five bodies in February, when they would be desperate for food, winter months are the hardest on wild animals, the farther into winter the worst. Does anyone think said animal would take one bite and leave. Now the four in the den were not found until some of the snow melted. One was found kinda shielding one of the others. One was found with a pen and notebook in hand. That notebook was quickly grabbed a by a military leader, who declared it was blank. He stuck it in his pocket never allowing anyone else to see it. He claimed it was put on one of the helicopters to be taken back and was lost in transport. The last girl was found away from the others in a creek. Her position suggests she was praying. The clothing of the four found in the den had the highest radiation levels, even weeks later. Each member kept a journal as well as took turns to keep a group journal, I believe it was part of their class certification, yet an extra journal was found. The handwriting could not be matched to any of the group. Some of their items were missing according to the guy who turned around, including a knife that was illegal to have in Russia at the time. Two of the group had these knives, but only one was found. The group seemed to be harassed during the trip in several places. One area they were kicked out of the bus station. They had planned to camp that night inside the bus station which seemed to be the normal, but they were kicked out for some reason. One of the last areas they stayed was a workers camp or something. Nothing I have found explains it fully. I think it was kinda of a workers town. They planned to stay in a club there. Two of the group had made this exact trip before, the leader and one of the girls, so they were following their path. But they were forced to leave the club and put in a hotel. This was not a friendly action. They were forced to share a single room, which I think had one bed, that the girls shared. The room was so cold their water froze and the only wood they were given to cook with was green, which smoked horribly. It was after this that the one girl had a huge change in her journal and the pictures. In the first pictures she can be seen smiling. Her journal was full of happy stuff, talking about singing songs, spending time with children and learning words of the tribe from the area. One of her journals entries after that night was translated to be “I am mad as the devil”, high is believed to be like our “mad as hell”. She also mentioned seeing something, but never said what. Remember she is the one whose tongue was missing. She was also found in running water, yet her clothes were still highly radioactive. The best way to remove radiation is to put it in running water.

Especially since one of of the girls had her lips removed and the other her nose. The mafia and gangs have both done that to show someone was either a snitch or poking their nose into stuff they shouldn’t. Keep in mind the one who left early due to his leg, had dealings with the government, what has never been made clear. But he is taken in for questioning and then soon returns due to leg problems. Seeing the photos of them having fun in the snow is just as haunting in many ways. I think one of the girls had kept a diary which stated that one of the men was starting to act strangely, but I'm not sure the translation was accurate. Ultimately it sounds like they were caught up in a military test - a case of wrong place, wrong time? It's just heart-breaking and I feel they still deserve proper closure and justice.

I don't think we'll ever know the answer. But here are my thoughts: There is no way it was an avalanche. That theory is completely debunked by the fact that their footprints were STILL there. I also don't believe that they were attacked, because there were no footprints of an animal/creature/or other humans. I believe that they were startled by something really badly. Whether a parachute mine or some loud weapon being tested in the air. It was the Russian wilderness, so it is very likely the government was out there testing weird stuff. So they hear this crazy noise, and think they are under attack or whatever, and get the hell out of their tent. They either see or continue to hear something and depending on the weapon, they could have thought they were being shot at/under attack so they ran off/split up. Some of the men might have tried to climb up the trees, others probably got injured running and falling. THEN I believe that the paradoxical undressing/hypothermia began to set in. Hypothermia can cause confusion as well, and possibly hallucinations which could explain some of the injuries or odd behavior. It is ALSO possible that they were drinking on top of this, which would make everything worse. Considering that some of the hikers were wearing the clothes of the other hikers, I presume that they stripped them of their clothes once they died to try and keep themselves warm, but ended up succumbing to the elements anyways. I think a lot of the injuries can be explained by stumbling through the dark and falling, hitting their heads (some may have died from this or gone unconscious, which led to their death), as well as animals eating their bodies.

Cassie I agree that animals could make sense in this case. However, if they could see the footprints of the hikers, wouldn’t they have seen footprints of animals as well? Also, didn’t they say the hikers’ clothing was found inside the tent? That would mean that paradoxical undressing happened inside the tent (if that was why they were undressed). I don’t know, so many things just do not add up.

nenamichelle It's a mountain so I'd assume there are animal prints all over. They left most of there heavy clothing behind when they initially left the tent. Yeah, they sounded like defense wounds to me, and why some of them had their hands up more the way they did. I think it was government, but the mangled hands, faces, chest, etc. also make me wonder if there were maybe wild animals or something. Only thing I can think of would maybe be wolves? But I don’t know for sure. Bears and stuff would have been hibernating, so I don’t know what other type of animals they have there that time of year that could have caused those injuries, unless, of course, they were caused after they had already died. I do think the missing eyes & tongue could have possibly been eaten by wild animals after they were already dead, but the mangled hands and chest and stuff seem to have happened right before they died.

I think for me, what happened was this - they got lost, went into an area that was off limits but due to the weather, they couldn't see the signs warning them. They camped out there, not actually realizing it was a nuclear testing area. In the middle of the night or early morning, the testing set off an explosion and then the rumbling started from an impending avalanche. One of the hikers heard, and tried to warn the others. In their panic, they cut the tent, grabbed anything they could and one guy attached to his beloved camera - grabbed it - they ran out, trying to scramble for shelter from the snow bearing down on them but it was too late. Later, as the bodies were probably half buried, those that were probably got ravaged by scavenging animals. Of course Russia will deny testing, so it all makes sense to me.

Here's a theory, they were on a slanted mountainside, with one side going up the mountain, and the other going down to a stream/ravine. Something caused them to panic, such as noise or wind, to leave their tent immediately (they were extremely experienced, possibility they picked up on something and panicked without due cause) they ran down towards the ravine, 2 of them started a fire, 7 went farther down to dig into the stream/ravine to build a psuedo cave, 3 from that group went back to the tent to get supplies or whatever, but didnt make it. The 2 at the fire both died of hypothermia, one was so bad that they threw their hands/feet into the fire and had severe burns, the other I believe climbed a tree for vision/firewood, and fell and cracked his skull the 4 left at the cave died from a collapse, causing the bitten tongue, crushed ribs, the stream caused decomposed eyes and tongues, there was no damage to the trees as far as shrapnel or bombs are concerned, there was no radiation found in them either.

@@ladyluck8027 thank you, the biggest question and will be, "what caused them to leave their tents" if that got answered it'd be pretty easy to figure out the rest, my thought process went to either they heard something and panicked and left fairly quickly, they thought they felt/heard something, and overreacted, planning to go back to the tent shortly after, or unfortunately, something involving the Russian government seems possible. In the expedition unknown episode they find that the Russians changed the dates and lied about when they found the evidence, so idk, lots of weird stuff. I do prefer the nature theory that they heard something, like wind or some kind of frequency that caused them to think a storm/avalanche or something caused them to leave in a pretty quick fashion. Once you figure out the layout and see the area for your own eyes, you can kind of see what I believe to be true

Hey , I’m Russian and I can clarify some stuff. Having a good camera back in 1950s Soviet Union was a bit of a luxury. It was a very valuable item for that guy, so he probably grabbed it so it won’t get damaged because he thought he would survive and get the rest of the stuff later. I do believe that the reason they had to escape the tent so fast was avalanche. They probably thought that they would be able to recover things later (hats, mittens, coats etc). They also had a sort of a “storage” unit set up outside of their camp with some food, clothing and other items in case of emergency, however they were not able to find that spot in the dark and by the morning it was too late. So no, I don’t think he tried to take photos of anything, he just wanted to safe camera from damage because he thought he could get the rest of stuff later or find the emergency unit that they set up earlier that day. But unfortunately the night was really dark and snow storm got really bad so they couldn’t make it. As for the injuries, some of them could be caused by avalanche (the “force”), the rest were probably caused by animals after they were already dead. Also as for radiation it’s really just rumors, there were no reports that radiation was the fact. As for if avalanche could happen, of course it could happen, it’s freaking remote snowy mountains. Avalanche can have variety of patterns, and by the time they were found it would be hard to determine the exact pattern of avalanche. It’s not like they found them the next day. People just like to imagine aliens instead of looking at the fact of how dangerous the nature on this planet can be.

Why is it not weird to anyone else that every other hiker had serious, horrific injuries like cracked skulls, split ribs and mutilated body parts EXCEPT Dyatlov, like he just ended up on his back in that position with nothing but some scratches? Why was there no theory this could've been a murder, he could've tricked them that he saw something and of course they trusted him so they wouldn't run, or take personal items, they'd just follow him, but when they saw him kill someone they scattered and tried to hide or climb a tree or find the tent again, there's just no other theory pertaining to the injuries, and those injuries are so typical in a murder, as well as Dyatlovs injuries which seem like some of them tried to fight back, I just don't believe in the paranormal, I think people can be scarier than any of that and I'd love to know if Dyatlov had any past history of violence or mental illness

That's the only hole I see in that theory. But it's pretty significant. Now, I _do_ believe in the paranormal. But I don't believe it was aliens, and I am always willing to accept a more natural occurrence as the logical explanation.

The wind blows so hard there that even the snow is kicked off. The Mansi, a local people believe it had something to do with "rocket stages," the military. Not all avalanches are the same, and they were camped in the open, it might not have reached the tree line. They were not killed by an avalanche. They were hit by it while they were in their tents, they escaped, and then spent a lot of painstaking hours trying to get back to their belongings and camp. An avalanche can also be set off by an explosion, this is literally how they set them off for safety. If there was any military testing in the area, scheduled events like this could have been a normal thing around. However, as someone who was born in the Soviet Union, i gotta say, they did not organize their shit well and the level of negligence was straggering, so it's possible that a half ass unscheduled test set the avalanche off.
