I can see how people would place Drake as a top rapper just because of how dominant he is in sales and on the airwaves, but peep game - He sold out. Nas could've been the radio king if he cared that much about Hits and radio play. Nas wanted the glory, the crown, and he knew he wouldn't get that by relying on other people. Drake is in it for the money, but you can't buy respect from the hip-hop community. Biggie earned that. Kendrick earned that. Did Drake earn that? The Drake that relies on reference tracks? The Drake that borrows bars? makes a blatant copy of DRAM's hit song, and even calls it a remix to it AT FIRST when it don't even have DRAM on there to add insult to injury. Then he compares it to dance hall traditions like he was born in Jamaica now... 10 years ago you could've sworn he was from Houston! In my honest opinion he got big majorly off of hype because of Lil' Wayne, and he happened to get some very talented people behind him in the process. Can the dude sing... fuck yeah. Can he rap... definitely. Is he Top 5? As an artist in the entertainment industry... yes. As an MC, no. He's more RnB then anything, which is why he started off doing hooks. He tried to pretend to be an MC, but was exposed by a real one. Even though Meek Mill is petty and insecure, he was right about one thing. Lyrics are important in Hip-Hop, and if you don't write all of your bars with very very few exceptions, you are not in the Top 5, and Kendrick most definitely is.

Quentin, PND, Mike Zombie, Roy Woods, OB, Nineteen85, Majid Jordan. His producers do a lot of the heavy lifting. A ghostwriter is someone who writes uncredited. Everyone is credited these days, its just a matter of visibility. Artists are packaged and presented as if they do all the work. Nobody would've known who Quentin Miller was if Meek didn't mention it. So when people say 'ghostwriter' now they mean someone who helped write and produce the songs but isn't visible. Doesn't necessarily matter if they're credited or not. All of OVO puts in on Drake's albums.

At the end of the day, y'all need to realize that it's all just a matter of opinion, music is art and art is subjective meaning somebody is going to like one artist over another more based on what influences them and what they've experienced. It's all art, and art is subjective. There's no " good or bad" music. It's solely based on the listener. That's what's so great about music and why everybody loves it so much.

Drake's album is a playlist/album/mixtape with no start to finish. You can easily hoop into any track as it was single. Kendrick's album on the hand is conceptual. Playing any song without having listen to in it's context is like playing a movie without the beginning and not knowing the plot line, story or characters.

Guys be talking in this video, 'drakes album', More Life wasn't even an album; the man dropped a a non-cohesive list of songs he called a playlist. Therein lies the difference, Drake can drop some catchy tracks, Kendricks producing art. No comparison.
