Thank you so much! We received this older washer in a barter trade (us older folks know what that is). I had a newer washer and it went out 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Truthfully, I never liked the new washer. Our clothes never seemed as clean as I am used to and everything tangled in it. I loved this washing machine. When it didn't drain, I researched and thought it may be the pump after checking the drain hose. We replaced the pump...still wouldn't drain. My wonderful hubby (of 40+ years) and I followed your video...and Ta-da!!!! I am catching on the laundry tonight. God Bless you and yours always!!

The 148 people who didn't like this video must be appliance repair guys who are mad that they are missing out on some money. This worked like a charm, took only a few minutes, and we were able to finish up our laundry. I also followed the link provided to learn how to replace the switch.....which I just ordered on Amazon for about ten bucks. I was moments away from heading to a second hand store to buy another washer. Now I am a couple hundred dollars ahead, and will soon be replacing the switch and making my washer good as new again. Thanks

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! I was stressing out over thinking I was going to have to spend half a day trying to get my washing machine repaired and/or buying a new one, but I came upon your video and had my washing machine fixed in less time than it took to even watch your video!!! I am just floored at how easy that was! Thank you, again!!!

Thank you for sharing this. I have the exact same washer with the same problem. I tried your bypass trick and it started working instantly. We had a washer full of water and clothes and using this technique was able to get it back up and running in no time. After watching your video what I did was cut the left and right wires off at the other connector and just connected them directly. You have saved us a big repair bill/service call and a trip to the laundromat. Thanks again -- Grady Christie

Hey FryerTad, I am not much of a handyman, and the lid switch died on our kenmore series 70. I looked at getting a new switch and having it installed. 60.00 for the parts and another 70.00 for the service call. That would be half way to a new washing machine. Thanks to your video--thanks to YOU I was able to use wire I had here in the house, a screw driver (I didn't even know I had those) and some wire from and old extention cord and did this by pass. 130.00 fix done for FREE thanks to you! THANK YOU. If you are ever in Nova Scotia the beer is on me--as long as it's under 130.00 :)

@jamescraven682111 жыл бұрын
I had a similar problem a few years ago. The switch housing is a plastic clamshell design, and the two halves separated (probably from accidentally slamming the lid a few times) and the switch no longer worked. Instead of replacing the switch with an expensive new one or electrically bypassing it, I cinched the two plastic halves back together with a zip-tie and it's worked beautifully ever since.

Thanks Fryer, now I have work clothes for tomorrow and our 10 year old washer lives to see another day. re: wire size. I used 14 guage solid wire that I snipped off the end of a roll of Romex. On my second attempt to get the wire into the connector I cut it in sort of a wedge shape and lined it up with the verticle slots in the connector and jammed it home, It fit tight enough that the electrical tape was more for decoration than insulation. Thanks again!
