I like the different flavors of the quest chips and they seem to be easier to find. I think you should point out that the main Hilo ingredient is almond flour and for quest it’s a milk protein base. In case you do keto carnivore or need or want to avoid nuts

I tried Quest and Hilow, they are similar for keto. Hi low makes spicy nacho which is good. I heard quest loaded potatoes was good but haven't found them yet. Thanks Steve and Connor. You're the best, guinea pigs,lol!! :)

there is very interesting science behind the chip to air ratio in a bag that serves 2 purposes... one is to have enough space to hold the gasses used as a preservative, and the other is to protect chips to have a higher number of them get to you before breaking. might be an interesting video if you can find someone in the industry to interview about it?

I know exactly what you mean when you say you wish you could have the Quest flavor with the Hilo texture. I totally agree. I love both chips and use whichever I can get my hands on to satisfy my nacho craving. I’m often getting the Quest chips from our Vitamin Shoppe store as the Hilo chips are so hard to find and our Costco store doesn’t carry them regularly. Love your channel. Keep up the great work! I LOVE your family! I agree with Conner. Quest chips (and candy lol) help keep me on track. I think you're right, you lose some to guac for sure, but I don't care. They're just so good to me. I like to have a bowl of this with a pack of the nacho cheese ones: 1 24 oz jar Rao's Arrabiatta sauce About 1/2 jar water or chicken broth (Optional) 1 tsp Better than bouillon chicken 1/2 c cream 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese Heat and enjoy the best spicy tomato cheese soup. Those chips for me just top it off.

Personally I like the quest with like a Keto sandwich. I like the taco flavor the best. The Hilo which I agree with you ,lack some flavor. I made some amazing nachos with Hilo though !

I really like the Quest chips, particularly the Loaded Taco flavor. (Also their sour cream & onion “potato” chips) As for texture and dip-ability, they’re not going to pass for high carb corn chips. They DO hold up nicely with quac though. Plus I prefer the taste of Quest chips to any other keto chip I’ve tried. And that’s my unsolicited opinion 😁

I agree about the Loaded Taco. How they nailed that flavor so well, I have no idea. I seldom eat them as I've sort of given up on chips in general, but I do keep some Loaded Taco for when I really want a chip substitute. The flavor is just really strong and good. They even nail the taste of the lettuce!

I like the Hilo chips, even more than their puffs--packed with flavor!! Or I fry up some "A la madre" tortillas for my salsa dipping needs. They are made with corn but still reasonably low carb!

I enjoyed the Hilo chips. I agree they have more substance for dipping. Quest chips do have more flavor. The best part for me is because of all the protein I can eat a small amount and be satisfied--unlike regular chips where I want to eat way too many!

I have not had the Quest chips, but have had three different varieties of Hilo (spicy salsa, ranch, and nacho cheese). Have to say, while not a 'chip,' they scratch that Dorito itch quite nicely.

My son eats low carb, not really keto. He makes chicken salad on Sunday and that is his lunch for week. He adds a bag of Quest chips for some crunch with it. He loves them. I like them, but can take them. or leave them. I don't have a membership to Costco, so I have never tried the Hilo. Thank you for another great review. I like the taco flavor Quest chips. I just break them a bit and put them on top of stuff like a taco bowl or taco salad for a little of the crunch factor you miss in keto versions of those. My picky eater preteen likes the non-tortilla Quest chips, and I'd much rather her eat a bag of those than a bag of Lay's or most of the (very limited) other things she eats that aren't fruit. They were hard to find for a while, and someone on the keto subreddit said Quest had told them they were discontinued. However, someone more recently said that Target had lots of the BBQ flavor, so now we're not sure.

We like both chips; but Quest chips are designed to be tortilla chips, all of the flavors have the same texture and was originally marketed as a potato chip replacement. (they discontinued their plain flavor - which was my favorite) Hilo was designed to be an imitation tortilla chip. Our Costco sometimes carried the Hilo large bag of chips.

I felt like the Hilo chips are pretty indistinguishable from an "off brand" or "store brand" Dorito. They also hold up to meat, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole for real nachos. I'm pretty bummed they no longer sell the big bags of Hilo at my local Costco. The little 1oz bags are just too small and expensive. It's not even a comparison between the Hilo and Quest chips. The Quest mouth feel is just a little too "off."

My husband & I absolutely scored on the HiLo chips a couple months ago, at our local discount grocery. Sprouts Market had over bought their order, so the discount folks bought an entire pallet of them, & we then bought half of that- 30 cases of 12, single serving bags~ for $3 a case! Amazing deal =) I was a bit concerned about shelf life, being able to eat them all before they spoiled/turned rancid or whatever they might have done. It's been almost 4 months, we just opened the 3rd case, & they are still fresh as ever. We've made many a nacho plate, tamale/taco pie, ate them as a side for enchilada night etc. I've also ground them up to use as breading for chicken strips, scotch eggs, fried veg, etc . We don't normally buy a lot of the pre-packaged keto foods, but our local discount store has ended up w/a fair amount of various brands/products- mostly because the regular stores can't sell them all at such high price points. It's been a very inexpensive way for us to try out all kinds of stuff we would never justify spending retail for~ it's been fun.=)

I’m a fan of the Quest chips, not so much the nacho’s. My favs are Ranch and BBQ. I order them from Amazon and they are a better price on auto delivery. I have not seen the Costco chips but will keep an eye out for them. I do use Quest as dip chips but I use a spoon to load them. They don’t hold up to my guacamole. That’s ok, I’m happy to be able to eat chips. Thanks for the review.

Canada Costco now sells giant bags of hilo nacho chips. I don't think I've ever eaten doritos so had no comparison to give... meaning I could just enjoy them for what they are and I LOVE them as a movie night snack! flavor is too strong for nachos, which I feel are better with an unflavored chip... i use the salted Beyond Chipz for that.

First discovered the Hilo chips in BJ’s warehouse and thought they were ok. Decided to try a couple of their other flavors, salsa and ranch, from Amazon. The ranch so far is the best. I did see that there’s a “bold variety” pack that I’ll probably try next.

I love the Hilo Chips, I buy them when I see them at Costco, I've found smaller bags at our local Kroger & Walmart's of other flavors. Be mindful of the large bags from Costco of giant balls of flavor powder... I've found this in like 3 of the bags... Costco is the best value. We've reviewed 3 flavors so far, with a 4th flavor coming next week.

Your video is basically my 'every couple of days' routine. :) I do nachos with the Hilo Life chips fairly often. My complaints about them is that they are fairly thin, so they break pretty easily, and the flavoring is inconsistent between chips. You'll get a few with little flavor, then a few with a lot. Other than that, and the cost, I love the Hilo Life nacho cheese tortilla chips.

My go to “chips” are pork rinds. They’re great for dipping, but don’t do well when topped with cheese and microwaved. I usually eat my nachos by dipping into whatever I’m eating. And the price is really affordable.

I like the quest chips, but every 3-4 weeks I take a break from keto for 3-4 days just for chips and alcohol, include sugar @3-4 months. I don't check my vitals till @week after back on keto, @-110/-58, 55. If I don't know, I'm good 😊 Nearest Costco is an hour away so I almost never get to except when I visit my son. 😛 Maybe I'll try the highlo. Always stock up on the Healthy Noodles!!! Thanks guys for doing this! I have Quest chips but have never attempted dips or melting cheese on them, because I felt the same way...just didn't think they would hold up. I may make some guac soon and attempt dipping them. I'd like to find some Hilo and see how I feel about those. I'm in the same boat as a lot of you...I don't really snack, but on taco night or taco soup night and hubby is munching down on some tortilla chips and salsa or guac, I'd sure love something to be able to join. So far the Quest have helped in a way but I'm pretty sure would NOT hold up to nachos.

I've made a few varieties of tortilla chips, but all of them have been too labor intensive for me to want to share them as a recipe. Every few months, I return to the recipe and iterate on it for a week or two, then get disheartened. I'm about due to give it another try.

@@SeriousKeto I will assist you, if that's what it takes to find the perfect Keto (clean ingredient) Tortilla/chip replacement. I'm serious! I've replaced pasta, I've replaced most deserts, I've come close to replacing pizza and bread, I've replaced "crackers", but there's one thing I'm yet to fully tackle finding or creating... is an authentic-tasting tortilla chip (or pretty passable). I love a "cheese shell" taco... and that's sufficient, but it's not the same effect when you try to do it burrito style. Nope. We love quesadillas too! I'm on a quest to find, or create, the holy grail recipes of all the foods we can't live without, but want to eat it while still living the Keto-lifestyle. We can do this, Steve. I'm confident! :)

A friend of ours from our area used to be into the popcorn business. He had like 32 different flavors and was quite a lucrative business. I've only seen the Quest chips in my area. Maybe because I've never been a big chip eater - I prefer popcorn, which is definitely NOT keto - I thought they were fine. I like that they come in single bags. Sometimes, just being able to have a 'normal' food would make it too tempting to have the big bag in the house. One of these days, I want to try Heavenly Fan's chip recipe. If I remember correctly, it's her french fry dough frozen and thinly sliced. If they're as good as her fries, it would be worth it to make them once in a while.

I find that with the Hilo Life chips they actually vary in the amount of seasoning from chip to chip and bag to bag - like actual Doritos. I actually like the Hilo Life chips better because of their texture, thickness and flavor. The Quest chips are very light. I felt the Quest chips tasted very cheesy but not Nacho cheesy. I should also note that we have had Hilo Life chips that tasted over-seasoned, even to the point of having chunks of seasoning at the bottom of the bag. I do LOVE the Sweet Chili Quest chips, though. That flavor sells out more quickly than the other flavors. When we first tried the Hilo Life chips from Costco, the sold out within a couple of days of being introduced and didn't reappear for a good 7-8 months or so (I checked every week), so I actually purchased them a couple of times directly from the Hilo Life site. They recently sent me a survey asking about flavors. I selected the option for a plain chip. I do not really like nachos made with Doritos or Dorito styled chips with a dip. That's just overkill to me. Hopefully they will come out with a simple, plain, salted chip soon.

The Quest chips are okay, but I prefer the hilo for nacho style chips. They have more of a tortilla consistancy and to me are more like a Dorito. They work well to make loaded nachos. That said, i do really like the Quest Taco Supreme chips. They are more of a tortilla consistancy, have a great flavor, and are perfect for dipping in some guacamole. We don't have a Costco so I have to order my hilo on Amazon, I get my Quest at GNC--sadly they no longer offer their Quest barbecue chip which was the only version other than Taco Supreme that I really liked.

Since going low carb I miss nachos with chili. I might be able to swing it with these chips. Just not all the time. Once a month? Now I need to find a semi healthy nacho cheese sauce or method to use regular cheese and add the nacho flavor.

I prefer the Quest chips. I make my loaded taco fixins on a plate and crush about 10 quest chips on top. Totally satisfies me.

What about using the hilo (or quest) crushed up and as a breading for chicken tenders/breasts before pan frying or air frying? Might be worth a try. I may give that a go tonight. BTW, 20 ish days in to my NO meds for acid reflux. 7 days of some ACV, and 13 days now with NOTHING at all. No acid reflux at all. Im floored... Thank you again for your channel. You do great work.

Love me some Quest chips. Spicy sweet chili and the chili lime. Not a fan of Hilo taste. The texture of Hilo is good but the flavor is just not there for me. They also seem to mess with my digestive system.

I actually like quest! Gives me the crunch I miss without the guilt. But the price to me is unreasonable .

Lots of times you can find them on the clearance rack at GNC as they get close to their "best by" date.

The Quest chips taste almost like a nacho cheese Dorito flavor-wise. The Street Taco chip they make is also very good
