S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is fantastic from beginning to end. First time I ever heard Incubus was a festival in 1999, and they were playing mostly songs from that album. I was hooked immediately. I've seen Incubus probably 7-8 times, and actually hung out with them backstage in '01. Unfortunately, I feel they'll really lost their way after A Crow Left Of The Murder.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E and morning view are their best albums in my opinion. Different ends of the spectrum but very well done. Fungus amongus was alright, Make yourself was kind of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole catering to the skateboarding kids, a crow left of the murder was meh and light grenades was non climatic for me although somewhat catchy. After those I stopped listening, but I still dig out the others relatively often.

My favorite band. They’re INSANELY eclectic. Some people don’t realize that because their biggest songs are usually straight forward pop rock songs, but they came up as pretty much brother bands with Deftones and System of a Down. Those guys all came up together. Incubus touches on rock, pop, metal, jazz, prog, electronic, and even Chinese Traditional music! Their guitarist went to Harvard to study music theory and has worked extensively with Hans Zimmer on movie scores. Check out Sick Sad Little World. If you want something really wild, check out their prog epic they made for the Halo soundtrack. It’s 4 different movements of Mike being an absolute creative wizard with the guitar.

Mike einziger The guitarist is largely underrated that man makes some awesome ambient sounds like the ones you hear in the background on this track. It's cool because on some songs he works with the DJs samples on his guitar with the plethora of effects pedals he uses and allows the bass guitar and drums to take center stage..to me that makes him coming back in with the heavy riffs just that much more hard hitting💪

No dear it’s Chris cornell everyone thinks he’s beautiful ☺️ then perry was on stage with 4/5 women scantily clad dancing and he was in leather pants no shirt and all over the stage. He said “Theres so much going on I don’t know what to look at first.” Lol then incubus. He kept saying “oh I know this song “ I said see my music isn’t shit, you’ve been listening to it on the radio and you didn’t even know. I had such a migraine towards the end from screaming so much, but I just couldn’t stop. It was truly amazing.

Incubus musically are just brilliant bass fat smooth melodic, drums on point technical, guitar effects chords are just sick, he figures out a way to say ok this is A D G what notes can I add to the chord to make it unique and sound different!! Thanks for the reaction. Incubus is one of my favorite bands. This album and video was the beginning of more woman going to shows. Before this it was mostly guys. I did not mind that at all. My wife and her friends all love Incubus as well. We went to the 20 year anniversary tour of the album this song is from , Make yourself in 2019. They played the album from start to finish. Hoping they will do the same for Morning View. What I love about Incubus is that they have progressed with each album as they have aged. Some bands just keep trying to recreate their first album. Please react to Vitamin, The Warmth, Rogues, Pantomine, 11 AM or Karma, Come Back.

The Guitarist, Mike Einziger, has pedals he's swelling in and out during the verses. He get's crazy inventive with his pedals (he has a whole pedal array he calls the "Gonkulator") DJ Killmore does more scratching in this song, but he does do loops in some songs and also plays the keyboard. This album in particular, the snare sound just has SO much attack, and the immediate airi-ness to it.. I LOVE the snare sound in this album.

These guys were in their early twenties when this came out. In some of their early tracks you can tell they multi-tracked live, not bothering to remove some artistic bleed. Definitely worth checking out tracks like; Calgone, Nebula, While all the Vultures Feed, Quicksand, Sick Sad Little World, Pistola, Makeout Party, and the Odyssey collection. Their DVD from Red Rocks Colorado, 2004 is one of the coolest live shows I've seen. I'm also a big fan so maybe bias.

Pardon me while I burst into fangirling mode! I was just in High School when their first album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. came out and me & my friends were immediately addicted! We ended up seeing them live at the Metro in Chicago, it was their first tour ever and you could tell.. Not music wise because they killed it but by how they acted. Their lead singer was absolutely blown away at the reception they got and kept telling the crowd how appreciative they all were. I was standing literally 5 feet away from them, I think they played with System of a Down that night, those were the daysss.. And back then, we were all convinced they would blow up because of their song Summer Romance and they eventually did! To be honest, after they reached commercial success, after their second album their music didn't feel the same to me anymore. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it is, after SCIENCE they weren't the same band anymore! So I suggest and plead that you go back and listen to their first album and break it down because to me it's a masterpiece and they never came close to that album again as far as I'm concerned! But please listen to songs like Redefine, Vitamin, New Skin & Idiot Box! Hell, listen to the entire album loud and tell me I'm not right about everything I've said sofar! I remember driving around, blasting this album pretty much nonstop! I highly recommend it, to this day, this album is in my top 10 of all time! So please please please go and listen to SCIENCE next! 🙏 PS. NEBULA, Deep Inside & Calgone are the songs that demonstrate their variety & potential! Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for their success, it feels like my own child making it big! I just dreamed even bigger for them I guess and feel like they never reached their true potential as a band for whatever reason. My joke was always that after that album, they got ABDUCTED by little green men and replaced by their vanilla doubles.. Its just been a lifetime mystery to me what happened to the band from that album. Not saying Make Yourself is bad, I dig it, it's just not S.C.I.E.N.C.E! I wish they did a remaster of it, for the 25th anniversary next year or something? That album deserves it! Anyway, sorry for rambling, just love them and needed to get it off my chest! /rant

IIRC, on this album their guitarist was using Mesa Tremoverbs with PRS Semihollow IIs. Tremendous tone.

You could almost pick any Incubus song and it would be the right choice. Such a great band.. A few favorites are Warning, Under My Umbrella, Just a Phase, 11am, pretty much anything from Morning View album.. The Warmth, Clean, Consequence, When It Comes... The list continues. the tone of the guitar is done by pedals and delay but the main thing to know is that mike used to play with PRS and MESA BOOGIE and uses volume delays. He mutes his guitar while giving the strings a stroke and then uses volume knobs on the guitar to release the sound. he pretty much plays beats in advance of the beat itself. A little bit like Tom Morello does. On the latest albums he doesn't play with this technique anymore. I hope it makes sense. Peace

HUMMMMM!! Not Stars, though. It’s just not as layered or as amazing as The Scientists, Isle of the Cheetah, or Afternoon With the Axolotls. Something from the new album would be cool too. I would LOVE to see what he thinks of the arrangement and the dynamics on Shapeshifter.
