Do more incubus. Such a criminally underrated band. Everyone mostly knows them for radio jams, but their deep cuts are where they really shine. One of the best live bands I've ever seen as well. MORE INCUBUS.

I can relate, this album and Morning View were so meaningful to me throughout my late teens/early twenties... all the memories and angst of those “growing up” years is brought back through this music. Never fails to amaze me that music has the power to feel so personal and yet so unifying through the shared experiences of others.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is fantastic from beginning to end. First time I ever heard Incubus was a festival in 1999, and they were playing mostly songs from that album. I was hooked immediately. S.C.I.E.N.C.E and morning view are their best albums in my opinion. Different ends of the spectrum but very well done. Fungus amongus was alright, Make yourself was kind of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole catering to the skateboarding kids, a crow left of the murder was meh and light grenades was non climatic for me although somewhat catchy. After those I stopped listening, but I still dig out the others relatively often.

My favorite band. They’re INSANELY eclectic. Some people don’t realize that because their biggest songs are usually straight forward pop rock songs, but they came up as pretty much brother bands with Deftones and System of a Down. Those guys all came up together. Incubus touches on rock, pop, metal, jazz, prog, electronic, and even Chinese Traditional music! Their guitarist went to Harvard to study music theory and has worked extensively with Hans Zimmer on movie scores. Check out Sick Sad Little World. If you want something really wild, check out their prog epic they made for the Halo soundtrack. It’s 4 different movements of Mike being an absolute creative wizard with the guitar.

Mike einziger The guitarist is largely underrated that man makes some awesome ambient sounds like the ones you hear in the background on this track. It's cool because on some songs he works with the DJs samples on his guitar with the plethora of effects pedals he uses and allows the bass guitar and drums to take center stage..to me that makes him coming back in with the heavy riffs just that much more hard hitting💪

The Guitarist, Mike Einziger, has pedals he's swelling in and out during the verses. He get's crazy inventive with his pedals (he has a whole pedal array he calls the "Gonkulator") DJ Killmore does more scratching in this song, but he does do loops in some songs and also plays the keyboard. This album in particular, the snare sound just has SO much attack, and the immediate airi-ness to it.. I LOVE the snare sound in this album.

HUMMMMM!! Not Stars, though. It’s just not as layered or as amazing as The Scientists, Isle of the Cheetah, or Afternoon With the Axolotls. Something from the new album would be cool too. I would LOVE to see what he thinks of the arrangement and the dynamics on Shapeshifter.

I'm so glad you're getting to Incubus. My suggestions for next songs to cover not in any order. Sick sad little world (alive at red rocks version), Pendulous Threads, Aqueous Transmission, and the 3 different versions of their song Redefine. (Original, acoustic, and the rendition by their side project Time Lapse Consortium - this one song shows their progression as musicians through out these versions.)

The lead singer of this band has a band now called "The Sons of the Sea" and they have an INCREDIBLE 4 song EP called "The Compass" and I think you'd really enjoy that. It holds a special place in my heart. The opening track "Space and Time" is really something else, a real experience, "Come Together" is a jam that flows really nicely, and "Where all the Songs Come From" is wondrous atmospheric vibe that really just draws you in completely. "Lady black" is a somber and fluid composition. If I really had to choose, the Opening song and Where all the Songs Come From are the best. Hope you love it, as you seem to love music that makes you feel a certain way. Hell yeah, sorry for the rambling Edit: And as much as people love Incubus, I haven't really met anyone who has heard this band

These guys were in their early twenties when this came out. In some of their early tracks you can tell they multi-tracked live, not bothering to remove some artistic bleed. Definitely worth checking out tracks like; Calgone, Nebula, While all the Vultures Feed, Quicksand, Sick Sad Little World, Pistola, Makeout Party, and the Odyssey collection. Their DVD from Red Rocks Colorado, 2004 is one of the coolest live shows I've seen. I'm also a big fan so maybe bias.

Please do more Incubus. They are one of the most unique bands of their Era where every album they evolve but still retain an authenticity of who they are throughout. The album Morning View is a top 5 desert island album. Right up there with Led Zeppelin IV, Allman Bros at Fillmore east, Dark Side of the Moon, and Metallica S&M

Aloha! Another great breakdown! I'm sure others are already letting you know that the band Deftones you have reacted to a couple of times actually has a DJ, too. His contributions are more subtle atmosphere sampling and synth pads as opposed to record scratching. Might I suggest a song from the album "El Cielo" by Dredg for a future breakdown? It's another benchmark in rock engineering and production from the early 2000s. "Same Ol' Road," "Triangle," "Of the Room," "Whoa Is Me," and "The Canyon Behind Her" are all excellent choices for a decomposing. Just about any song you pick from that album will have a ton of depth to wade through, even the short instrumental "Brushstrokes" as they're called. Cheers!

Pardon Me is the rare song where I like the unplugged version on equal terms with the regular version (so many unplugged songs are interesting but lose something in the translation). Incubus produced some really beautiful rock songs (a genre not really known for "beauty") like "Wish You Were Here" and "Dig".
