This song moves me to tears every time I hear it as it covers my life. I come from extreme poverty and joined the military to get out of that loop. I have been in 51 countries been shot at, too close to 3 explosions and zipped my friends into body bags but I came to the US in 1999 to the greatest country in the world bar none and I have a lot to compare it to. It is so sad so many people don't realize we live free in a beautiful great country. I have told my wife I want this played at my funeral because no-one chained me down and I live free and will die free even if I die defending that freedom. Kid Rock and Hank Williams Jr are my favorite artists. Fantastic song what more can I say.

This song reminds me of the best times of my life as a kid in the 70's. Riding in the back of my parents station wagon packed up and driving back to my Mammaw's house in Kentucky for our family summer vacation from California. The fun my sisters and I had collecting all state stickers and taking turns putting them on the side back window marking the states we drove through reminds me of the family I have no more. I only have one sister now and both of my parents have passed. Kid Rock wrote two songs that bring back the greatest memories of our family road trips. The good Lord couldn't have blessed a better man than Kid Rock with the talent he has and shares with us. He never forgets where he came from and gives back to the less fortunate and his fans when the other big rock stars make it and move away from where it all started. Thank you Mr Richie for all your GREAT music but most of all for this song and "All Summer Long" they are just like photos in my head that I can't find anymore...God Bless

I am not really a big fan of Kid Rock, but this song inspires me. We Americans as a whole don't realize what the freedom we have in this country means, we just take it for granted. We are born free, doesn't mean we can do anything we want but it does mean we are free to make our own decisions. Peace.
@kevinhall113911 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but we can do whatever we want but there might be consequences we have to pay.. take these thing with Phil Robertson he said what he believed and used freedom of speech but his consequence in the result of that he was suspended from his show duck dynasty.. so all I am saying is that we can do and what we please but it might a bad end after it..
@jamesdoakes495611 жыл бұрын
kevin hall That's different. I'm an atheist and I'm all for Phil Robertson having his own opinions, even religious ones, but he suppressed his own freedom of speech by signing a contract. And by him making such a strong statement on A&E he breached that contract and therefor had to pay the consequences. See, before they sign the contract, either their lawyer or agent reads it for them. He should have read it himself. His fault.We definitely have more freedom here in America than just about any other country. Yet we got asshole nut jobs making it look like we don't. Government hasn't knocked on my door yet, and until he does I'm free as I wanna be...
@BornAgainCarnivore11 жыл бұрын
Yes, so let's keep the government from becoming overreaching and making those decisions for us, so we can remain free.
@petermosherthepoet11 жыл бұрын
But Madam Fragger, doesn't government know best? Do they not have our best interests at heart? Really, this whole business with the NSA collecting our phone records, is it not only to track down the terrorists that would do harm to us and not for anything else? Why, the argument is that if you're not doing anything wrong then this sort of surveillance should not bother you. But the truth is that once you let them get their grubby little prying noses in to one thing with no regard to the liberties that are spelled out in the constitution there is no stopping them. Government is a necessary evil and it must constantly be reined in. Nice comment, Thanks. Peace
