Fedor in his prime was like watching a bear attack: lightning fast, brutally strong, wildly aggressive, absolutely unrelenting, and downright vicious. Yet at the same time he demonstrated incredible skill in all aspects of the game, and few fighters have ever been as complete. He was without question the best and most dangerous fighter I've seen. The fact that he was humble and a true sportsman makes him my favorite fighter of all time as well. Live long and prosper Last Emperor!

@III3 HH2 hahaha the UFC at the time was shit (and still is at heavyweight, despite all the hype) . Their best men were Tito Ortiz ands Chuck Liddell hahahaha. Fedor was always the smallest man and beat everyone with style, always going for the finish. By the time he fought in the USA he was in decline ( not because of his age but because of his style. He had abandoned his submissions and had become purely a head hunter)

People have been talking lately about stipe miocic calling him the HW goat, when he's got a pretty modest record in comparision, fighting mostly "no bodies" Out of their prime. I dont even wanna get started with Caín Velásquez, cause Fedor and Cains careers are galaxies apart. He IS the greatest in MMA in my opinion. It is almost unbelievable how strong and dominant he was against such good opponents. He was indeed ahead of his time. Being 10 years undefeated in HW when the division was stacked with amazing fighters says enough of how good Fedor was. His recovery from the fight against Randleman isn't talked enough imo. This slam on the neck has high chance of leaving you paralysed or at least unconscious, whereas Fedor shrug it off like nothing and went on submitting Randleman. He is not a human.

I wouldn't say strong as an Ox, many of his opponents were stronger, Arona, Randleman, Coleman, Big Foot, Hong Man. Fedor was kind of pudgy, his balance, coordination, quickness and skill made him look stronger than he was. Even little Dan Henderson seemed stronger, lean > pudgy.

Fedor is just a special dude. Hes got a true fighting fighting spirit that cant be taught and what made him so great was his mind. He had like a 142 IQ and was smart as shit in school. Alot of these clowns today pretend they will fight to the death, not scared but the second they in tough fights they are holding, stalling, doing whatever it takes to avoid damage. Fedor would literally go into the guys most dangerous aspect and beat them. Its why he was the most exciting fighter ever, if he fought Francis he wouldnt run away the first 2 minutes like Stipe then wear him out then finally decide to start going to work. He would throw bombs at Francis instantly before Francis got a punch off...Its not about winning sometimes but how you go about winning. He could have laid and prayed GSP style and got to like 40-0 but its not in his DNA, he was the ultimate calculated risk taker.

I look at Fedor's defeats this way: 1. Fedor basically went undefeated for 10 years, since his debut up until the Werdum fight (I don't count that stoppage vs Kosaka because it was a misfortunate cut due to Kosaka being his second opponent of the night, and also because Fedor won the rematch in dominant fashion) 2. He lost against Werdum whom he dropped and started to GNP, but he was reckless and allowed Werdum to submit him (important note: Werdum failed a drug test) 3. He lost against Bigfoot Silva once again because he was careless and was dominating him most of the time and doctors decided that he is unable to continue, so just like against Kosaka he wasn't KOed or submitted (important note: Bigfoot Silva also failed a drug test) 4. He lost against Hendo once again for trying to finish him early on after dropping him (important note: Henderson was probably the 3rd most notorious TRT user after Overeem and Belfort) 5. He lost against Mitrione after that double knockdown where Mitrione was the first man to stand up (some might call it luck, but I'll say it's probably because of his weakened chin after all the wars he went through up until that moment) 6. He lost against Bader after he was caught off guard, not an excuse of course (also, we must consider his chin). So, the way I see it: 1. Fedor has beaten 7 UFC champions (Arlovski, Sylvia, Nogueira x2, Mir, Coleman x2, Randleman, Rampage). 2. Fedor has beaten multiple UFC title challengers (Sonnen, Rizzo, Hunt, Monson, to name a few). 3. Fedor went undefeated for 10 years (not counting the first one due to cut above the eye). 4. Fedor was the smaller guy in most of his fights. 5. Out of his 5 losses, 3 were against the known PED users. 6. He lost to Werdum -> Werdum became a champion. 7. He lost to Henderson -> Henderson arguably beat Bisping and deserved the UFC middleweight belt, challenged for the UFC title 3 times altogether and beat 21 MMA champions altogether in four major promotions. 8. He lost to BIgfoot Silva -> Silva fought for the UFC heavyweight title. 9. Fedor never even tried to find an excuse for any of his defeats and always showed how humble he is, which is a very important trait for a champion. 10. He was willing to sign for the UFC and fight that PED freak Lesnar, so it wasn't like he was trying to "avoid UFC due to fear of getting exposed". 11. Many consider Pride to be a golden age for MMA and Fedor was the undisputed king there. 12. If we exclude his first loss due to unfortunate cut after having to fight 2 times in one night, and if we exclude his last 2 defeats after he was already far from his prime, Fedor basically lost only 3 times in his career, all of his 3 defeats came consecutively, so it was one tough period for him, not to mention he was knocking down and beating all 3 of his opponents prior to those losses. In his own words, he was dealing with some personal and family difficulties, his brother was a trouble maker, junky, rapist, went to prison, got STD, etc. The way I see it, Fedor must be considered when we are talking about top 3 GOATS of the MMA. And the other 2 must be GSP and Jones. The logic behind it is simple: the opponents they beat, the longevity of their reign and their MMA score. I am not even considering Johnson because of his weight class and lack of competition, Silva due to 2 losses to an average Weidman and his losing streak because he doesn't know when it's enough, and Khabib because he doesn't even have 5 big names in his resume. The only other fighter that might be thrown into the mix is Cormier. So I think that between those 3 or 4 fighters we should be looking for a GOAT. And in my personal opinion, that title belongs to Fedor.

@Heragoth Wrong. Rather the opposite, at least as far as PRIDE, where Fedor ruled. The bottom limmit for a Heavyweight was 205lb, as is in current days UFC. But the UFC as an upper limmit of 265. Fighters like Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt, amongst others, have had to loose weight to compete in UFC's Heavyweight division. In PRIDE however, there was NO upper limmit and that meant there were actually BIGGER fighters in PRIDE's Heavyweight division than in UFC's. As for Fedor Emilianenko, he was always somewhere between 230 and 240lb, which actually puts his weight pretty much in the middle of the 205 to 265lb current days UFC -Heavyweight division.

Fedor was probably one of the first HW who had all around fighting skills with heavy hands and very good ground game. But what separated him from others was that he was a very good athlete, especially his agility and his deceptive quickness. Besides getting cuts easily, he really didn't have a weakness during his prime.

I am from Croatia so CroCop is in my heart but Fedor is the best ever! Back in the day the Big 3 were in order: Fedor (he alaways found a way to beat his opponent), CroCop (if u cought his leg kick its game over except Mark Hunt that dude was extremly hard to bring down even for top tier fighters) and Minotauro (he got hit by a truck as a kid so to KO him was not an option and he was a master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu if u gave him an half second opening u got a kimura wrapped around yourself and u lose)

By the time he got to Werdum his peak was way past. I gauge a person’s mma IQ by how they respond about Fedor:
