I think the reason why Owen doesn’t recognize C3PO in ANH is fairly simple. It’s a common model of protocol droid. It’s memory has been wiped so it has no memory of Owen. So Owen just assumed it’s a different unit. There’s no reason for him to assume it’s the exact same unit his step mother once owned.

My thought on Sifo-Dyas was always that it was really Sideous using an already dead Jedi as a cover for the creation of the army that he would use to take control with order 66.
@caelinnis5 жыл бұрын
That was true when the film was released. Legends expanded upon that, which would inspire George, and later Filoni and George would adapt the character in The Clone Wars show. "Sifo-Dyas" was a mishearing of 'Sideous' that was common, and George being George added it as an in-joke of sorts presumably. Warren Fu was used as the in-universe appearance of the character.

Jango lives there because he's the purest source of the dna they are using to make the Clones. They need his availability to consistently generate more Clones. This is actually addressed in the Clone Wars series where the Kaminoans mention that the newer clone troopers are less effective because they're now basically having to make a copy of a copy of a copy. Kind of like a bad VHS tape.

I don't understand how you guys dont think there aren't any redeeming moments in this one. The chase on Coruscant was exciting and made Coruscant feel so alive. Flying through the city really made it feel like an actual living planet, not some deserted base in the middle of no where. The mystery of Jango and who ordered the clones was engaging to me. The sound design of the spaceship fight with Jango and Obiwan was amazing. The introduction of the clones in the arena and fighting in the sandstorm was top tier action for me as a kid. The Yoda/Dooku fight was also amazing. I'm not saying the dialogue or anything is good, but this movie has some incredible set pieces and some exciting action imo

I can not understand how anyone thinks that the Qui/Obi dynamic is somehow more believable than the Obi/Ani dynamic. There is no back and forth in Phantom Menace at all, it's like two people in completely separate worlds in every scene. I get liking Neeson as an actor and being drawn in by that, but there really isn't anything going on with those characters - not to the degree of Obi and Ani talking on the couch in the opening scene or when Ani loses his lightsaber. There's exponentially more chemistry there.
@vinnybastos5 жыл бұрын

Attack of the Clones works conceptually. In fact, on paper, Episode II is the most interesting out of the 8 episodes. IT'S A MURDER MYSTERY that becomes a conspiracy against the Republic. It's the first episode to show that Palpatine is behind everything. It's the episode that plants the seed of the dark side of the Republic. Every idea of this film is 10/10. How could George fuck this up with bad dialogue and poorly-written structure?

Actually just so the guys know, Doku actually isn’t a Darth. He was never a true apprentice of the dark side and they touch on this a little bit in the clone wars animated series. I’m at 1:27:00 in the video and they’re talking about wato. Does anybody know what happened to the explosive chip mentioned in episode one that Anakin had to stop him running away as a slave? Presumably they somehow took it out but this is never stated in either film and if it was left in there, then that would be an easy way to stop Anakin once he became Vader. I know it doesn’t really matter much but the thought occurred to me just now and I’m wondering if that might be a bit of a plot hole.

I remember despising this film for ages but I saw it quite recently, and a lot of the stuff in the first act I was really into now being a bit older. It was cool and very surprising for Star Wars. Sci Fi detective noir, assassination plots, political intrigue, mystery, we got to see more of the Coruscant underbelly; it had so many cool elements...but they were done so poorly. I think I was into it so much because it was in Star Wars but god damn, it would've been so good if it was yknow...good. Also, controversial opinion, Hayden Christensen...not a bad actor; he just got burned so badly. He's not a great actor, but he's definitely not a bad actor and low key it kind of wasn't his fault.

In fairness, I think a lot of complaints lobbed against the Jedi's stupidity was sorta the point Lucas was trying to make, that is then reinforced by Luke in Episode VIII: The Jedis SUCKED. Just in this movie they fail to consider Dooku a threat, fail to see the Clone Army as suspicious, fail to see that Anakin is troubled and MOST IMPORTANTLY, their dogmatic practices of celibacy and detachment are essentially what drives Anakin to the dark side. I think their critique is that the 50s diner/Americana vibe, with the droid having a Brooklyn accent etc, doesn't fit very well into the larger star wars universe. It's too earth-like. Is the force purely genetic? They talk in EP1 like it just pops up randomly.
@LoganFerguson5 жыл бұрын
The force is not genetic. Everything has midichlorians (except ysalamir, but they're not canon anymore). The concentration is random. But having a parent who had a high count increases the chance their offspring will have a high chance. It could be argued that's why love is forbidden for Jedi, because of the risk of two force users creating an uber force user who's far too powerful and potentially a danger to the galaxy.
@MikeSW5 жыл бұрын
@@LoganFerguson Pretty sure its forbidden because it prevents individuals from being subsumed by the Jedi order, which would be doubly important in the Star Wars universe where sexual competition has literal superhumans at play. @jcuttyfoe4 ай бұрын

@DanH-kk4hc5 жыл бұрын
Some of the criticisms here were a little silly or just incorrect. They spent five minutes harping on Obi-Wan going to Yoda to verify information that was already verified by the librarian...when it wasn't. She never said the data was erased, and in fact kind of gives Obi-Wan shit for insinuating that something that exists wouldn't be in their database. He has one source saying Kamino exists, and official records saying it doesn't, so he asks Yoda for advice. Nick seemed hung up on all of the bugs leaving the arena, but I don't know why he assumed every life form on this planet was a soldier simply because they have a military. It's just an arena, like the Colosseum or Madison Square Garden - they're largely just spectators. I don't think it's that weird that lightsabers were more common and less special in the heyday of the Jedi. Vader is impressed with Luke's new lightsaber because it's a feat just to find the parts and technical know-how to make one because the Empire has gone to great lengths to get rid of all remnants of the Jedi. It shows that Luke has been studying and has gone to great lengths to obtain it. It makes sense that they wouldn't be as special in a time where they are issuing them to even children. Not everything in the original trilogy has to be so sacred. I don't know why it's inherently bad that Obi-Wan was welcomed on Kamino. The intrigue comes from WHY they are expecting a visit from the Jedi while the Jedi have no knowledge of them. I also don't think the brief shots of the Death Star plans overshadow anything about the actual story of this film. It's just a tease. I think it's kind of weird to complain about all of the exposition and then have a problem with not explaining how Obi-Wan knows Dex. He just knows him, because Obi-Wan exists in this universe outside of just what we see in the movies, and he has friends and contacts. There are PLENTY of gripes to raise about this movie without stretching so hard to find or manufacture faults.
@iCyFlaMeZ965 жыл бұрын
I basically agree with all of your points though I do also generally agree the movie is pretty damn bad. I kinda don't blame them too much because when you're on a roll of trashing it's easy for there to be some collateral damage. With the Kamino point though, I agree with what Kevin was saying but I also think Nick's point is very valid too, about wanting more conflict in the scenario. That's a pretty conventional screenwriting pillar and that scene did subvert that a bit. I thought it was mostly fine though.
