Oh true. Personally I took it as the time frame between the release of dark world and love and thunder. I haven’t looked at it specifically but I’m pretty sure it matches up quite closely. Edit: which doesn’t line up with the mcu timeline ofc. I took it as a fun nod to the release dates; but her being blipped makes sense if they broke up a bit before ragnarok.

This movie felt like a business trip where you get through all your work as fast as you can then go out and spend the companies money on fun shit. It felt like the Taika Waititi got the bag and said "aye y'all we going to shoot all the part of the movie we need to make a movie. The intro, the drama, the exposition, yada yada yada. Then we are going to just have a fucking blast after that. It felt the cast was having a blast. But that fun didn't translate to me as well. For me it felt like watching someone else play a game as opposed to playing the game with them. Taika got his shit off on this movie. Any little artsy thing he wanted to do that could fit in his budget and not totally ruin the vibe of the he did it. This movie felt so experimental and coming after Ragnarok that kinda grates on expectations of what this movie was supposed to be. It sort of rest expectations as now I can't wait for the next Thor movie so all the stuff T.W. figures out in this movie can be executed in the next movie. It also show me that the studio being controlling over these properties has its place, as this movie would have been a lot better if T.W. could have been rein and constrained a bit. 7/10 for me. This is phenomenal Disney plus movie, but it's just a good Theater movie.

It took a while to warm up for me but I greatly enjoyed it by the end. Certainly a lot more heart than Ragnarok. The ending really worked for me. I felt absolutely no emotion whatsoever from anything in Ragnarok. I liked the parallel between Thor losing out on all that time without Jane because he was scared of being vulnerable, with Jane choosing to be vulnerable and spend time actually doing something rather than spend the time she has left in hospital, knowing she won't survive anyway. It crept up on me and it's easy to miss but it's definitely intentional.

I absolutely loved this movie, so much so that right after I left the theater I said “this must be in the 90s on RT and MC.” You shoulda seen my face when I pulled out my phone to check. I’m pretty shocked that there are so many negative reviews. Some “top reviewers” are calling it the worst MCU film. To me, that seems absurd. Yes, it’s rushed. We needed more of everything, but that’s because everything is so good. When the second part of “November Rain” hits, I legit got goosebumps. It’s number 8 on my personal MCU list
@teddyholiday80382 жыл бұрын
Also, as much as I love this movie, my other gripe is that it suffers from a little of that “corny MCU dialogue” syndrome. We didn’t need Jane Foster to say “I’m the Mighty Thor!” It would have been more effective if, as she shows up on the pegasus, for one of the kids to look up in wonder and kinda whisper “the mighty Thor!”
@thekittencornyshow82232 жыл бұрын
I agree, I'm shocked by the bad reviews. Maybe a case of false expectations. I think people will warm to it over time. Some of the film was messy, but I can forgive that for how hard the ending hit me.

while i can appreciate what Taika brought to the Thor movies, mainly through his humor, I just feel it's a pity that that happened at the expense of Thor's more significant stories that did need more of the dramatic tone to them. Hela and Gorr would have made iconic villains to Thor at the level of Loki (in Thor and The Avengers), Thanos, Killmonger and Vulture...BUT, because, as Tim said, they had to take a backseat to the humorous tone Taika's bringing to the franchise, they both got kinda shortchanged. i hope, SOMEHOW, they can bring them back once they've kinda course corrected Thor to just the sweet spot he was in Infinity War and beginning of Endgame. I like the movie, but, it just felt SO light weight..and considering it was telling Jane's cancer story and Gorr butchering gods (which we didn't get to see enough of)...that shouldn't've been the case.

This movie is a total mixed bag. I loved Ragnarok, but this is just too much into the comedy and introduces some issues into previous films. I feel like I needed to turn my brain off and that isn't a good thing. Biggest issues 1. How can Mojlnir be reforged? Is it just Jane wanted it. Thor didn't ever try to use it with his power? I know Thor put his spell on it (maybe unintentionally), but it seems weird that it just magically was fixed and he used it at the end of the movie. 2. Thor giving his power to the kids would have been really useful against Thanos. 3. Tone was all over the place. 4. Gorr was vastly underutilized and things like how he figured out Stormbreaker was the only way to complete his plan felt like a scene was missing. They could have shown him torture a god for information on how to get to infinity which would show him butcher a god and help show his plan coming together. Between MCU since Endgame (minus Spider-Man), and Pixar (Onward, Soul, Turning Red, Lightyear, Luca) I have been mostly middling on all of them where I used to be super pumped for anything new Marvel or Pixar. I have lost trust in both brands and think their glory days might be behind them.

Definitely agree with Greg. This movie felt like an SNL skit of a thor movie for most of it but the jokes don’t land as well as it did in Ragnarok. It’s almost cringe. Too many jokes and not enough time to sit in serious dramatic moments that wouldve meant more. Plot and story felt very rushed and we got to things with characters that don’t feel earned. The emotional beats don’t hit or feel deserved. Christian Bale was amazing as Gorr and deserved more screentime to show more of his story, character and him actually butchering Gods but almost out of place in this more comedic movie that it was like Heath Ledger as Joker in terms of performance and story being thrown into a SNL sketch. There were no stakes really. Watched Ragnarok right before Love and Thunder and Ragnarok had a way better balance between jokes, drama, story, and character development. And the jokes in Ragnarok landed way better than in Love and Thunder. The theatre i went to only had a big laugh the first time the goats came in and screamed but that was really it. I really didnt like Thors character much in Love and Thunder, its like when he went to SNL to do skits of Thor. Thors best trilogy and story arc is between Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame. I know phase 4 is like phase 1 and is supposed to set up bigger plots but this movie should still stand on its own and it doesn’t to me.

They should have saved the Warriors Three from Ragnarok and had Gorr killed them in this film. Obviously, I'm sure the writers of Ragnarok couldn't see what was coming 5 years later, but I think having Gorr kill the Warriors Three could have added some actual stakes and tension. Gorr kills like one person, and I never felt like the kids were ACTUALLY in danger. Overall, this film just kinda felt "meh". I liked the opening narration and stuff with the Guardians until the goofiness just KEPT GOING. Like Greg said (I think it was Greg), I thought that some of it was cuz Korg was narrating, but then the ENTIRE film was like that, and it felt SO at odds with how straight and bleak Gorr was.

Also, wasn't a fan of the amount of Guns & Roses songs in this film probably because it isn't a band I would go out of my way to listen to.
