Some explanations are needed for American viewers to fully understand the chants and why they're sung. John Terry had an affair with a team mate's wife. "She said no Robin" is aimed at Arsenal's Robin Van Persie who was accused of sexual assault, which was later dropped. Mesut Ozil has eyes that stick out of his head more than the average person's eyes and the offside rule is any part of the player's body being offside results in a free kick for the other side. Adebayor is on the stretcher and contrary to what you might think that's his own fans showing how much they like him. Came from nothing, now the best player type of thing. Stan Collymore assaulted the TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson and when he joined Derby he broke his leg making him useless to them. The fans didn't approve. Manc is short for Mancunian and Mancunian is the name for someone from Manchester. Luis Suarez has got a sticky out set of gnashers and like Mesut Ozil that presents a disadvantage regarding the offside rule. Wayne Rooney had it off with a prostitute known as 'Auld Slapper' and she was a grandmother when he paid her for her services. He was also a bit on the tubby side when the chant was sung. Steven Gerrard slipped over at a critical moment in the English Premier League title race and gave the ball to Demba Ba who scored and ended Liverpool's hopes of winning the title that year. Now you know all that, watch it again and fully get how cutting English football fans are.

As to your John Terry comment, Bridge wasn't married to Vannessa Perroncel in fact they weren't even dating, they'd split up before the media based story flared up. She has continually denied an affair since 2010 even though it could have been quite lucrative for her. At the time she was offered 5 figure numbers for her side of the story, which she refused. In fact because the media couldn't get a story they turned on her, where they started out calling her a 'model', they changed to 'lingerie model' implying that she was modelling much more. ITVs Good Morning, Breakfast show had her on and she still denied an affair, adding that John Terry's wife and her were still friends. December 2020 the Guardian saw fit to bring it up again, and had to add a rebuke from Ms Perroncel, I've added the link to that and the add on is right at the end, and there is a lot of bullshit in between. www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/03/betrayal-and-bombast-surreal-story-terry-v-bridge-scandal

The worse thing about Saville was, is in the industry that he worked, it WASN’T a secret, it was widely known and people ignored it just to protect their own careers. Some did try backhandedly to let the secret out, one that springs to mind is Drop the Dead Donkey, set it a TV news room in the early 90’s. One character says “I’ve just heard a rather disturbing rumour at the club” and one character reply’s “Not Jimmy Saville again!”. I’m not sure who was worse Saville or those that protected him!

He abused such a ridiculous amount of people, its not uncommon to know someone who came into contact or had a terrible experience with him. My auntie met him when she was in hospital when she was about 12. In that documentary, think it was his driver who was saying that he literally had a room with a bed in some hospitals and no one ever stopped him taking young girls in there with him and also abusing girls in the back of his limo. It isn't just the BBC we have to blame, its every single person who turned a blind eye and let him do what he wanted when it could have been prevented. He purposefully sought out girls who were young and naive and young girls with mental health impairments. A demon in human form.

It was in the end a BBC reporter on the Newsnight programme that broke the story. He had been investigating the stories he had heard about Saville and found a facebook entry from a girl who said they had been inside a TV studio and a Rolls Royce car and had beed abused. She was with a friend, and were in the company of somebody called JS. The reporter tracked her down, and she confirmed it was Jimmy Saville. As you said, it was common knowledge at the BBC. One girl explained to a cameraman she had been inappropritely touched by him, he repied 'That's Jimmy Saville', and ignored her.

@@Pluggit1953 In the Crimes that Shook Britain documentary, there's a point made where in the 90s a girl wanted to come forward but said who are they [the courts] going to believe, a girl from a reform school, or Jimmy? A huge celebrity that everyone has heard of. That I think is part of the problem as well. It's not ust the cover up from the BBC. I'm willing to bet the music industry had a hand in covering it up, given how....well....how prolific the music industry is with the same thing too and the stereotype of certain sorts of performers going for underage fans too. JS was always creepy as fuck to me though, I'd honestly say KB should sit down and go through the whole Crimes that Shook Britain documentary though as well just to get a sense of what JS did, and just how godawful he was. Also, Operation Yewtree as well

I’m sure we’ll come up with something for the England vs USA match in the Autumn. Bit scared of what the supporters might come up with for the England vs Iran match. They don’t hold back against Germany but even worse against Argentina - the Falklands war and the hand of god for starters (basketball goal). America doesn’t rhyme with much but there is great chanting potential in the nickname.
@light2983

American does rhyme with Englishman? So could use that analogy. And have something that can just say "they're not as good at sports as an Englishman just because you're an American". "You kick a football with your hands and not your feet" etc. there's loads of puns you can run off with it. There's also the terminology that British call Americans is "Yank" so could use Yanks and Franks (French) and run that off with the battle of waterloo. Has quite alot of potential

One thing you should probably be aware of, KB, is that a lot of the chants/songs about individual players or managers aren't just randomly invented, they're based on the latest news stories and gossip headlines being talked about in the media, especially the tabloids. e.g. Wayne Rooney being a granny sh***er 🤣

Offside is a trick concept to explain But imagine you are the team of the offensive. The furthest most forward player on your team cannot be closer to your opponents goal than their last defender . Where ever their last defend stands there is an imaginary line across the pitch, beyond which the other team cannot be standing when the ball is passed to them. Imagine a 'no man's land' between the last defender and the goalkeeper. Basically to stop forwards just hanging by the goal the whole time It's more nuanced than that, but for the 'your eyes/teeth are offside' chants it basically means that they protrude so much that even though they're standing onside - the correct side of the line denoting 'no man's land' - their teeth/eyes are offside' on the other side of that line

This song was used in the mid 90s when Fred and Rose West from Gloucester were found to have assaulted and murdered several children, burying their bodies in their house and garden. Yup, it's a song acccusing rivals of being child murderers and cannibals. Offensive enough?

I am from Merseyside and the Wayne Rooney one was alluding to fact that he visited the Grafton in Liverpool. We called it the Grafton grab a granny and many young men got educated in the way of the World by attending that place 🤔😜😜👍

Love that you Americans love our football chants, but there is a very dark history of violence at football matches back in the 70 80's I think, organised gang fights, glad to see we have come so far from then

The Nunber 9 shirt at Everton FC is well revered. One of ( if not ) the most famous and popular Yanks in USA (soccer)… LANDON DONOVAN…( loved his time when he played here and a great ambassador for America- although I always associated his name with a fumble in a tent between two hippy pot smoking Woodstock freedom warriors resulting in an unplanned special delivery…… best things in life…. Surprises!!! 😂) Landon was graced to pull on the famous number 9 shirt…. Look yourself if you find the time . Sly Stallone is another devotee of our club. Ask anyone about the Hardest player over the last few generations…. Another number 9. Duncan Ferguson…. Jailed in Scotland for an on field incident, let down by Scottish FA ( refused to play for Scotland ever again. Came to Everton before he went to toughest jail in Scotland ( Barlinee ). EFC an fans stood by him. Forget Vinnie jones or Roy Keane. Spend an hour looking him up… you could start another playlist on hard men of soccer… be a great audience capture…. Anyhow…. Check this out….. check out how Landon Donovan and Stallone speak of their passion for ‘ The toffees’….. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3PWpJZ-i6aJlas 👍

Love your blinds, bro! Never underestimate the power of ignorance. I apologize that your channel is the one I'm making the comment on. You are the first American to realise that these (excuse me) f******, are impotent in most ways. They're not leading a company. They're not able to run a marathon. They can't do so many things. The sad thing is that they all can do so much more than they think. Football communities bring hope... Be the hope...

Nothing worse than the person recording the audio being totally tone-deaf, and thus being the loudest in the recording. 🤦‍♂

Oh mate, back in the 70s? You'd be band for playing them, if they'd been recorded. I'm a Man Utd fan from Manchester, and you can't begin to imagine, especially away at Leeds. It's bad now, but back then? OMFG! I'm a MANC and proud!

Pity you're a red but still better red than Scouse! Anyway as proud lifelong blue Manc I've got to echo your comment about back in the 1970s because I learned all kinds of words and songs that my mum bollocked my dad (and grandad) about at Maine Road in the 70s.
