You know why I keep coming back to this video every time I need stretching inspiration? 1) This is so concise where you go through 90% of all I need to know in 7 minutes, unlike the thousands of other stretch with me videos of wholeass 45 minutes I need to try to fast forward to get an idea of what stretches to do. 2) The voice-over is so clear explaining each stretch. 3) The beginner versions of each stretch for noobies.

This is fantastic! Thank you! I love all the options you are giving on how to get there in degrees. I hope you take this as the compliment I am intending to make, but as a lady with a generous behind, I love seeing someone like me being flexible. I've had this bizarre idea that my struggles with doing the splits was because of my butt. It just helps psychologically to see someone with my body type being flexible. Again, thanks!

Yes! And I indeed take it as a compliment 💕🙏🏽 I know exactly what you mean! Several times in my training, I turn around to my tush and think “Get out of the way!!!” 🤣 It might be tougher for us because we’re working through more booty, but it’s possible! And believe it or not, because of the hip extension required for sound split technique-the action has not only strengthening benefits, but sculpting ones too 🙌🏽

kinkysweat Hi, kinky sweat. So a few months ago I believe I pulled my hamstring. Since then I have not been able to stretch or do pretty much anything that requires any kind of leg flexibility. Unfortunately I do feel that my left leg has gotten significantly tighter as a result. There is no intense pain, but every so often if I get into a certain position I do feel some discomfort along my back thigh. I was wondering if you have any tips for recovery as I would like to continue flexibility training. Thank you again for your help.

I can only get down all the way with momentum and can’t hold it for long. Is it normal for one leg to be more flexible then the other? And are both legs supposed to be able to be the forward leg, when I split I usually split with the same leg forward each time.?
@aliciaarcher5 жыл бұрын
It is normal for you to have a more flexible side, but crucial that you still stretch both sides. And to prevent injury, avoid the momentum and try to stay in a more active position. It’s more helpful to stay in a low lunge with the front left bent, and improve your back leg. Get that low, first!

Hi, just before I watched the video I was curious... why did you choose the name kinkysweat for your channel? To me the word kinky can have sexual connotations, so I was curious if you were using the word in that way or if it means something else to you. I don't think there's anything wrong with women embracing their sexuality as everyone has the right to do so if that is the case. I was just wondering, what do you feel is the meaning behind your channel name? What does it represent to you? Or how did you decide on it? :)
@aliciaarcher6 жыл бұрын
I knew ppl would be curious because of the name, and when they payed me a visit they would see it’s a platform for my lifestyle: “kinky” hair “sweaty” life. Of course the hair represents everything beauty, and the sweat all things pertaining to my fitpro life.

Everytime I stretch my legs in lunges it hurts. Any leg stretch resembling a split position hurts and I'm always properly warmed up. I do stretches after my pole dance workout. I'm wondering if some people have a stiff joint condition or something.

I would love a video on how to get the splits period. For beginners of course lol. I use to be very very flexible but after 3 kids girrrrrrrrl flexible WHO??? lol. Is yoga the best way to achieve splits or is it just more so practicing certain stretches daily??? How long did it take you to get the splits, can you do it on both sides, and can you do them facing fully front like with your belly touching the ground? Sorry 50 questions over here lol.
@aliciaarcher7 жыл бұрын
Hi CeeCee! It took me around 1-2 years to get my splits. I got them when I was 18, and I was working on them on and off. It wasn't until 5/6 years ago that I took up contortion and focused heavily on improving my flexibility. The primary difference between yoga and contortion is that yoga is a spiritual practice, and focuses on how the pose makes you feel versus how you look. Contortion is a performing art, and no matter how you feel, you train the body to hit those skills consistently. So yes, doing specific stretches for splits will help you get there. Attending a yoga class might help your state of mind, but if you don't have those exercises in the flow, your splits will take longer to get.
@ImCeeCeeHarris6037 жыл бұрын
kinkysweat Thank you for the clarification! Girrrrrl when I was 18 I was THAT GIRL. I'm 28 now and not the same hahaha. What stretches would you recommend for starters and for how many days a week??? A video perhaps?? Lol.

Why is it so important to keep your hips square?
@aliciaarcher4 жыл бұрын
It’s important because of 2 things: If you advance to over-splits, then you would be more successful in staying on your back without rolling off to the side. Also, it puts more work on the hip flexor and less on the hamstrings. I see a lot of pulled hamstrings from splits training from ppl insisting they turn out their back leg in order to get lower.
