Kiparis - SMGs - Black Ops Review - #21

Was in a bit of funk with video gaming over the past few weeks. I think it's passed though, so here's the Kiparis review. Hope I delivered to expectations.

Hey Amish, always happy to see you in my sub box :) I have actually been using the Kiparis a LOT lately. I have also tried all the attachments. I generally Extended Mags. Scavenger, SoH, and Marathon/Hacker. I haven't used Grip THAT much but honestly i don't mine the lag. And the reason i use extended mag is not due to constant reloading, more about having opportunity to out more then 1 person at a time. I'll try Grip w/ EM today but honestly I've been liking extended mags only.

Sick intro song! Also, ive shot a Kiparis in real life, DAMN does that thing hurt, not. It has as much recoil as the CoD4 Mp5, its a 9 Mil, its like nothing. Keep up the great work Amish.

@BeastlyAnteater I always thought dual wield should be a blue perk. You get an extra mag to start, and when you pull out your secondary, instead of switching to a pistol, you switch to the dual wield version of the smgs.

I loved my dual wield Kiparis build on smaller levels. Very effective for me.

Nice review lol. Maybe you should review the MW2 SMGs to show Treyarch how to make actual variety in their SMGs? Anyways, looking forward to the Lethal Grenades. I think they're balanced pretty well so I always go back and forth on what I pick.

when i use the Kiparis, i like to use: Scavanger Pro, Warlord Pro, & Marathon. for the attachments, i love using Rapid Fire & Grip.

I just watched this again to get your opinion on the Kiparis. I started using the Kiparis Extended Mags on my MP5K class and can't decide now which I like more. The aim assist and bullet penetration really make the Kiparis an attractive option. Care to weigh in RagingAmish?

@BeastlyAnteater If you're looking to dual wield an SMG, I highly recommend the skorpion. It doesn't have the recoil the other dual wield SMGs have and is surprisingly effective if you play intelligently and only use it on maps that fit it such as firing range or stadium.

@xxRagingAmishxx if you ask me the kiparis is quite accurate and i love it, mostly the penetration, high fire rate, and good mobility. if u use it again use grip i got many choppers with it.

Most versatile SMG in the game, except in the blue perk slot where Scavenger is almost mandatory. Other than that, I can use pretty much any perk (even Hardened) because of the fast reloads.

love your stuff amish, been here since the start, gotta say though i feel this review was a bit off.. i just started using this gun and the recoil seems pretty manageable even with rapid fire. with rapid fire i can drop people before they know what hit them. sometimes even before they can panic knife me which many times is the difference from life or death in only too many fights. if you play aggressive or objective aggressive it can be a very good gun.

They also included the KS23 in the Vorkuta mission, even though the Vorkuta gulag uprising was in 1953 and the KS23 was first used to suppress prison riots in the 70's. Some of the folks at Treyarc need to do their homework.

The ACOG actually reduces the Centerspeed to 1300 (from 1400), making it one of the smallest hits to centerspeed from an ACOG on any weapon (source: DenKirson). I still wouldn't use it, but if you really want to use an ACOG on an SMG for some reason, "it's worth a look".

@InboardPG I would say that the G11, PSG, and Stoner definitely do not suck. The classified weapons aren't supposed to be better than every other gun, they are supposed to have unique traits about them.

@ToxinBlade Its fun cause this is CoD4:2 By that I mean every gun ingame is based of a CoD4 weapon, or a cloned version of a CoD4 weapon. The only unique weapons are the G11 and Grim Reaper. Even the Death Machine is modeled off MW2s turrets.

@115zombies935 40-20 damage at 1250RPM > 40-20 damage at 1000RPM, and don't forget you can Warlord a grip to make the recoil managable. The reload time is very fast, so no need for SoH, and low clip size isn't a downside, it just means you can't spray and pray.

@xxRagingAmishxx I agree wtih you. Especially with the AUG. That was the debate I was having earlier. I guess it's preference but the AUG seems much more managable especially at long range.

I used to be angry at people who used the AK-74u, but looking at the rest of the smgs, what can you do? The five or so 20 round, 4-5 hit smgs are too weak and the huge fire rate means you constantly have to reload. The MP5 has the same damage as the AK, but worse recoil and a shitty reload. So it really comes down to the AK-74u, and my favorite smg the MPL, which had dual mags.

+Savior20061 In the face of other weapons, the AK-74u with Rapid Fire is overpowering. Just look at Amish's AK-74u review. The FAMAS and AUG struggle to compete in the face of the AK-74u Rapid Fire, and considering how so many people had problems with the former two weapons, it's a bit surprising how more people favor the former two.

Every time you review a gun that I planned to avoid, I use it and own with it.

@deprece2301 Rule out the weapons with low center speed (Uzi, kiparis, etc). Take the AUG for example. I think it's superior to the FAMAS. The recoil is symmetric on the AUG, but the FAMAS has the higher center speed. The AUG may skip around a bit more, but the net movement is up. I think it's easier to maintain since at most you may have to press slightly forward on the analog stick. Essentially, a symmetric profile cancels out the randomness.

yea i found treyarch to be kind of lazy when it came to weapon development. as you pointed out the majority of smgs are virtual clones with the Ak-74u leading the pack. another thing was the sight on 3 of the guns are the same: famas, aug and G11 which i found odd.

Most tacticals actually do damage (all except smoke), that's why you get hitmarkers off them, the damage they deal is downright minuscule but if you get someone at literally 1 health within their AoE it will kill them

Because Treyarch forgot to look at a timeline. The AUG and Famas weren't introduced untill late 70's and early 80's, yet they are featured in the campaign, that mission taking place in 1968.

You know, I actually don't mind the recoil at all. It always kicks predictably up and to the right. If you aim low, the recoil will push the gun's fire across the other guy and take him down quickly.

It could also have been impact, thrown grenades do around 15 damage on impact, what map was it on? He might've injured him self by falling.

what people fail to recognize is that this gun is the best smg for dual wield. the ADD reload has to be under a second giving a huge advantage in CQC and making Sleight of Hand's "faster ADS and reload" useless, leaving room for Steady Aim.

I'm using Xim3 and dealing with the kick is nothing. Using this with Rapid Fire, Scavenger and Slight of hand. Immediate improvement in KD ratio on smaller maps (Or maps that have close quarters routes to avoid long range fire.) I'm usually busy covering my longer ranged teammates with this gun.

The Kiparis can really kick ass in the right hands and I like the gun don't get me wrong but I don't think it's the MOST versatile SMG. The AK74u is (even though I despise the gun and won't use it out of principle.) Look at the attachment selection is has. You can throw pretty much any perk and any attachment with the AK74u and it consistently does well. Hell you can even put a GL on it! The Kiparis really needs Scavenger, Warlord or Sleight of Hand and a pistol if you don't put extended mags on

@CccpReznov Toche my friend you are correct however i shall maintain that because it entered serivce in 1991 the majority would be United Russia (Post 1991) however this means nothing as the game is set at the time of the cold war it is probably a 70's pre-large scale production fitting its Classified status as a rare & unique Weapon , however the counter arguement is that it uses NATO attachments rather than the Soviet Style leading me to think it is post Soviet time,:( this gun is a Minefeild

Lethal Grenades... I will be HIGHLY disappointed if you don't add a certain faimly guy clip we discussed before... Also, I have a question about the recoil profiles. In your videos, you have said many times that if the recoil profile is symmetric then it will recoil straight up. I have heard multiple people say that it will be more random and will move to the left, right or up. They say the FAMAS is better for recoil since it is very predicatble recoiling up and to the right. What do you think?
