I test drove the 25 camry THEN the 24 ESh. Just bought the ESh. I couldn't fit in the back of the Camry and I thought the build quality felt cheap. I like the backseats fold down but I don't use my sedan as a truck. Sound system was subpar. Interior plastic was loose like it was a power wheels. Ride was zippy but bumpy. My ESh just feels smooth, and I LOVE driving it. The 25 Camry is a Jack of all trades, master of none -- a good car for MOST, perhaps the best value pick of all the sedans, but it isn't a luxury car. Neither is the accord for that matter.

I love both the Camry and ES, but there are differences in the build quality, refinement, and sound insulation within the cabin. However, from the consensus I've heard, Toyota did a solid job with the noise reduction (from both wind and road), especially in the XSE trim. No doubt this generation of Camry will lure a lot of people from the economical and luxury sedan market (maybe even some potential SUV buyers as well, given the amount of room and trunk space it has), I'm quite impressed with it (though I'm sad about the V6 and naturally aspirated engines being precluded from future lineups). I have no doubts that this platform will be very reliable, Toyota has perfected the hybrid platform. My expectations for this generation honestly weren't that high, but Toyota really outdid themselves with the amount of effort they put into it.

It's nice that Toyota is sharing so much Lexus refinement with the Camry. That will only help keep it head and shoulders above the competition. But a Lexus person is never going to be happy with a Camry. It's just not even in the same league. I "personally" have no need to be in that league and would much prefer the Camry. Just the fact that the rear seat doesn't fold down in the ES prevents me from even being remotely interested in one. A Lexus person would just bring the GX 460 if they need the rear seat to fold down. I don't have options like that at my fingertips. In fact, if Toyota would introduce the Camry in a proper wagon form like the ones they used to sell in the 80's & 90's, I would MUCH prefer the Camry over the Lexus ESh. Especially if they made it available in the base LE trim and it could be purchased for say $3k more than the base sedan. I'd be all over it. But as they say, "different strokes for different folks."

I would say the biggest issue with Camry over Lexus is depreciation. I expect a fully loaded Camry to drop like a rock compared to the Lexus ES. At 40's in MSRP it would be hard to justify the Camry. Note, I have never owned a Lexus but have had a 98 Corolla bought new, a 14 camry bought new, and a 17 camry bought in 20 used. I like Toyota but the prices are getting nuts. Lexus is getting up there to, but lexus's generally are more comfortable, reliable, and hold value better. At these prices you are closer than ever to the ES.

This looks like a great car, but as I'm getting older I need seats a little more comfortable & have more soft cushion than the Camry. I currently have an older Camry and paid to give my driver's seat more cushion, and what a difference! In a few years, I will be looking at the Crown, which does have more comfortable seats. It is also quieter than the Camry, sits higher like an SUV & has AWD. I'm sure it's not Lexus quality, but it does cost less for a very nice sedan.

I paid 23500 dollars for my 2019 camry se. Non hybrid. It has been really good. It just needed sound deadening in doors and trunk and a pedal commander for the lag off the line. It rips. Too bad they are all hybrids now and too expensive. Having a 420 dollar car payment is golden.

I know over time quality of build might not be as good as it used to be, but should one go out of their way to try and buy a toyota made in Japan vs here? I know that might be hard now as most if not all Camry and ES are built here now for US market right?

Hey Kirk, I’m a Mazda guy but will be looking to get a new car soon. I currently drive a mazda6 and prefer a sedan over an SUV but would consider a CX-50 hybrid. My question is, how would you compare the engineering of the Camry XSE to a Mazda’s engineering? I like tight handling and don’t care about a stiffer ride. I also want to know if the interior is comparable to a Mazda. I would consider this car but am wondering your take?

My 25 XLE Camry driver door actually sounds like something is loose in it, and it kinda rattles when i close it, i guess i'll have to bring that up to the dealer. I am concern they mess something else up, because the car is very quiet with no rattles on the road.

I really liked this vehicle until the front right wheel bearing failed at only 4,000 miles. It’s very disappointing that I paid this much for a new 2025 vehicle and then to have this happen. I hope I don’t deal with this for the life of the vehicle. I have to wait 8 weeks before a replacement part will arrive. My 2006 Honda Accord bearings are still going strong.

Just test drove XLE dealer looking for $1000 markup. The fabric microfiber on doors is what's giving me hesitation. I guess the engineers dont have kids. Im wondering how hard it would be to keep clean? It's definitely a comfortable car. Bit quieter than my 2020 Hybrid
@ironrain1x4 ай бұрын
Don't even need to have kids to see that is a bad idea. I drive around dusty roads and the interior will get caked with light dust when getting out. It's easy to wipe down leather and plastic. It's a pain to dust fabric

The German luxury vehicles are dead to me. Their reign is over. The Korean and Japanese vehicles are way more desirable… then again, it could be that I’m nearly 40 and sensible now😅
@spliffbooth4 ай бұрын
Hunter, please set the crack pipe down. Korean "luxury" vehicles, despite offering an appealing feature-to-price ratio on dealer lots, see their values drop more precipitously than most other cars on the market (including much-maligned EVs) due to less reliability and poor dealership service experiences. Meanwhile Japanese vehicles incur dealership-level price gouging, as well cost-cutting in material quality and design. And meanwhile yet, every single other automaker (including the Germans) have been attempting to emulate Japanese quality control methodologies, and have significantly improved both quality and reliability over the past several decades. In the 90's and early 2000's, I would have agreed with your statement about Japanese > German. But in 2024, the quality gap is much more narrow, the value-add all but erased, and the German cars still provide a more engaging, less appliance-like driving experience.

I went to LA to see it before its debut. I was expecting a brand new body, not just a new front and back grille. Disappointed, yes, I was. Both it and the Accord really went into the field of just plain boring. I have a 2020 Accord Hybrid, thought it was just quirky, but against these new cars, it is definitely sexy now.
