I got revenge on an evil extortion scammer.

This scammer targets grandparents extorting them for their life savings.
We were able to disrupt them for a few days and investigate some of their important bitcoin wallets leading to an exchange.
In the end, the main scammer is extremely angry, and I'm extremely satisfied.

This makes me so happy. My mother fell for this exact scam last year and lost fifteen thousand dollars. Instead of a coin star they had a courier come pick up cash from the house. It occurs to me that when you don't want to hear the scammer, it might be good to turn down the mic or put your hand over the mic, as you do when you are pretending to talk to someone else. In this case you'd be peering at the screen, and only returning to the phone to give him an update, with the volumne coming from distant to near as you start talking.

I've never seen this show before, but while I watched it it kept my attention and made me laugh harder and more than I laughed at any show situation comedy or otherwise and I don't know how long. The difference is I wasn't laughing at the scripted words of a writer... I love it!! That scammer sounded like he was so stressed out about it and I was laughing so much because I did similar scammer that posed as a hot young female and was wanting me to give her gas money to come to my house by use of gift cards. I gave them the runaround for the whole day and my very last message. I told them “ the time and effort that you had to put in to try to get money from me, You could’ve worked for it and would’ve came out ahead”. You guys are awesome!!!

This scam was used on my grandparents in 2016. They lost $4,000. My grandmother swore it was my voice on the phone, explaining how I was in a car accident, driving without a liscense, broken my nose and in jail. A couple years ago the same scam was done on my grandpa, just a month or so after my grandmother had passed away, only this time they said my brother was in a car accident. My 80 year old grandpa, who used to be a sailor in the navy back in the 50s, cussed them out. It brings myself and my mom such joy to see you getting them so upset, thank you so much for your hard work.

My mom at age 80 got a call about my nephew. She had early stages of dementia, and she said it sounded exactly like my nephew. She did have enough sense to ask " where is your father right now?' in an effort to vet the scammer. My brother was out of the country and scammer hung up.

It always sounds stupid but it's easier to fall for these than it seems. I almost bit the pge scam. I knew my power bill was past due and they called from an official pge number. It wasn't until my wife stopped me "why are you using zelle to pay pge" and i was like yeah now that you day it like that it sounds really stupid. But it works because they pressure you "power shut off in 30 minutes" and my brain shut down.
