I love how honest you're being about the frustrations and setbacks of a renovation. I decided to renovate my bedroom three months ago- new folding desk, new bookshelves, coat of paint on the walls etc. Three months later half my stuff is still in piles on the floor because it turns out it's very hard to renovate a small room while also living in it.

I can tell you as someone who's been in the cabinetmaking industry successfully for over a decade that it is far simpler for us to do your kitchen than for you to do it. We already have all the jigs you'd ever need, the pre-planned sizes, countertop template knowledge, appliance knowledge etc. Unless you really really want to do it, paying someone like my colleagues and I is fully worth it even when what we quote seems shocking at first. Cabinetmakers aren't rich, we just work for the rich!
@flyingfox3296
@flyingfox3296 2 жыл бұрын
It's also good to take into account what one would make with their job compared to the same time that they would spend to finish an entire renovation project as a beginner (minus the money spent to get the stuff!). My stepdad always says he's going to build this or that so we won't have to pay for a contractor, but he makes way more in an hour of working than he would save in an hour of woodworking.

Leaving same comment here that I did on an earlier video on this series: I own a cabinetry and furniture business. Great videos! Mainly, I wanted to say THANK YOU for not trying to make the kitchen/cabinetry process out to be super-easy and quick, like so many other DIY videos out there. IMO, when folks that, it degrades/dilutes the value of our profession, and it potentially adds unnecessary confusion to consumer confidence within our industry. Keep up the great work!

Trim we just finished this past Fall. We did everything ourselves except install the cabinets and countertops. Even when supply chains are working properly, it's still a long and arduous process to get done. I can fully sympathize with your frustration. Super interesting. I really like that you don't make it look pain-free, unlike most reno shows. You might want to put a temporary countertop over that island until you get the real thing, so no one gets hurt on the brackets that are poking out. Also that would give you a bit of extra workspace, and it would stop the dirt and dust from getting inside the top drawers.

Get better every time!!! I love that. Individual project videos would be fun and are easier to reference. Plus, it gives us more ILTMS vids to watch🤪

Individual videos would be my preference. Also loved the custom front for the dishwasher. That's amazing!!

Individual project videos for sure because that actually helps people who are at the same stage in their remodel

I built your Arcade Cabinet over this last year, and it turned out.. pretty great TBH. First personal wood working project. So I'm amazed when I see how perfectly square and flush all those cabinets are. Perfect accuracy with woodworking is alot harder to achieve then people imagine.

Looks great. Individual project videos for sure. Maximize your content and also help your audience specifically dictate what to revisit a lot easier.

Smeg, great choice, their thermoseal tech is awesome with its ability to not circulate smells within the oven thereby making it possible to cook and bake in the same oven at the same time without transferring any flavor. 95% of Dishwashers and washing machines and 70% of most ovens are 600mm wide, larger ovens are generally 900mm wide (usually have rotisserie capabilities). These sizes are pretty much industry standards to make kitchen design easier and for ease of replacement without drastic remodel. The only difficult items to size are fridges or bespoke appliances and sinks.

I'd be into watching the rest of this renovation as project videos, and I've gotta go back and check out the earlier videos for this project. It looks great, coming together beautifully

individual videos. Also a trick I do when hanging stuff on walls is I use craft paper taped to the wall for some basic protection. Usually works ok, might of helped with the marks from the hood. Also can help for layout.

Both! Individual project videos are great to follow along with to learn how things are done. The wrap up videos are awesome to see the bigger picture as things progress, and to see how everything fits together in the space. Plus, doing both means more content and more revenue for you lol.
