Awesome video, I sold a bunch of these grids, never replaced one but did clean a few. The slab tends to stick to the plate when calcium gets on it , ice machine cleaner works great for that. I love the way this machine works. It basically is a waterfall over a big evaporation plate and as water flows over it a slab of ice forms. When it gets thick enough the machine goes into harvest and runs hot gas through the plate which loosens the slab and the slab slides down onto the grid which heats up and cuts the slab into tiny cubes. Love these machines. Great video.

Thanks for the video. My ice maker had the same problem. The grid cutter assembly is very expensive. You can buy just the wire which is much cheaper.

Awesome video, I have a marvel ice maker with a broken wire in the grid, can’t I just replace the cutting wire and not the whole grid?

I have basically the same unit kuis18nntb2. I had a couple blinking lights so I replaced the evap thermistor and the water level sensor. All maintenance lights are as they should be with supposedly no issues. My issue is no ice. Water flows down but I never see a sheet of ice forming on the evap. I do get an occasional piece of ice but not like it's supposed to. The compressor and fan appear to be working (compressor gets hot and fan turns on). It does get cold at the top by the evap but the bin seems warm. Not sure what to replace next..

What should the resistance be for the cutter grid be? Also, what should the supply voltage be to the cutting grid? Lastly, how ling should it take for the grid to cut a sheet of ice?

It looks like my ice is melting thats cut, would this be due to a malfunction with the cutting grid as well?
@bobbymedina11984 жыл бұрын
Should the cutting grid be hot to the touch when working correctly? My machine makes ice, drops on grid, but it just sits on the cutting grid for awhile before dropping. How long should ice take to fall through grid when working correctly? I’ll be ordering a new grid from you if it’s defective now.

I have an almost identical Kenmore/Whirlpool Mod. 6.89489997 that has stopped making ice, and the bin walls stay hot to the touch. Is the refrigeration system stuck in some kind of reverse/cleaning mode, or is it more likely a control board issue? How can I diagnose? Good tutorial on the grid replacement, BTW.

I have the Kenmore Elite version of this ice maker it makes the ice but doesn’t slide off the plate to the grid. What makes the hot gas switch on to release the slab of ice?

Hi Everyone, This was a great video and I repaired mine in under 30 minutes. On the new models the cover piece requires an 8mm ratchet otherwise the inside is still 1/4 inch ratchet and wrench. Don't ask me why they did this...But this video was great!

Cost of cutting grid?
@egrayson20315 жыл бұрын
Hi. If they were keeping to ASE standards (as in automobile manufacturing) rather than converting to metric, as a lot of American manufacturers did during the 70's ~ 80's, the 8mm would be 5/16". Because 5/16" = 7.9375mm. 'Hope this helps. :)

Ok I have a question if you have time? My KitchenAid ice machine is not turning on. I checked the plug and the motor hums when plugged in, but it is not turning on. No lights or anything. Doesn't even get cold. I hope you can help me.

Probably needs cleaning.... my kenmore does that.... I’m going to buy a new cutting grid for it soon... when the ice gets stuck on the grid the sheet of ice acts as a ramp and all the water drains out of the recirculating reservoir .... dump some water in the reservoir and I’ll bet it spits it back out...make sure it is level!

@@onnieedwards5187 How do you replace the thermistor
@gregkornfeld82324 жыл бұрын
@@bobbymedina1198 It's on the right hand side of the ice maker. He disconnected it in the video. It's a probe that hangs down into the bin. If it touches the ice, it knows not to make any more ice and shuts down production. When ice drops below the probe, it resumes production. Look up the part #. I ordered mine through Amazon. It works fine now.
