Honestly, I'm actually not surprised about some of the outlandish concepts! I grew up seeing stuff like Jumanji, Men in Black and Godzilla getting animated adaptations that took SERIOUS creative liberties in order to make it look awesome and appeal to pre-teen boys. In an era where stuff like Robocop was getting an animated series for whatever reason, seeing these outlandish "top the original" ideas doesn't seem out of place for that era to me. To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if some of the people working on this project went on to work on stuff like MIB Animated because that'd be RIGHT up their alley!

Unpopular Opinion: I really do wish the Jurassic Franchise would've had the balls to go all in with even its craziest ideas. At its core, the series has always been about the consequences of mankind messing with the natural order and trying to wield and control powers that we don't fully understand and how it may or may not eventually lead to our own destruction. The dinosaurs are just simply the embodiment of that idea; a catalyst for our own extinction. The concept of mutant hybrids, even the ones as outlandish as the concept art seen is this video, fits in perfectly with that theme which is why I honestly wish they would've followed through with that show and the original ideas they had for JP4. Once you've cloned dinosaurs from the blood found in fossilized mosquitoes and the DNA of frogs (a concept that is truly ridiculous from a real-world scientific perspective), the gloves are off and everything else is on the table at that point. Mutant dinosaur hybrids were the next logical step. Dr. Henry Wu said it best in Jurassic World: "Nothing in Jurassic World is natural! We have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals. And even if the genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different. But you didn't ask for reality, you asked for more teeth." It's a science-fiction story about cloned dinosaurs. Nobody has any excuse or right to get all uppity about "pure, scientifically accurate" dinosaurs in this franchise. If you want realistic dinosaurs, watch National Geographic or any number of dinosaur-themed documentaries available here on KZbin.

@@tobyscustoms4813 yeah, kinda redundant that many people complain about hybrids when every single dino is a hybrid itself. Raptors aren't even Raptors (though, to be fair, they were cloning Deinonychus and just decided to call the Velociraptors if my memory doesn't deceive me), but the Dilophosaurus is definetly the worst offender in this department, and also the Carnotaurus in the novels with the whole chameleon schtick. So there's really no point to complain about the Indominous Rex or even the Spinosaurus from JP3. Yes, they may have DNA from other regular cloned dinos, but these dinos already had DNA from other creatures to begin with.

I thought the Chaos Effect dinos were SO COOL! I love the 'real dinosaur' idea so much because I love dinosaurs. But as Dr. Woo points out even the 'real dinosaurs' we see in the films aren't 'real dinosaurs' in cannon. They are already mutated and mixed with other things. So the scientists pushing that envelope even further is hardly a stretch. In fact I personally would have liked the Indominous to be a little more fantastical looking than it was. I think this cartoon would have been a super cool idea, as would the Chaos Effect. Do I wish that the entire franchise had gone that direction....eh...not really. But it certainly would have been cool to have another one of the islands devoted to this concept. That way they could have kept it separate but still be in the same cannon universe, allowing both ideas to be explored but one not completely contaminating the other.

Honestly, this and the chaos effect line deserves a spin off show. I'm sure many would enjoyed and you were spot on with the first movie mainly focusing on the genetic creation of the dinos. This series could of really worked going off the first movie.
@maxeisenhardt88005 жыл бұрын
This reminds of Godzilla: The Series, the spin-off to Roland Emmerich's movie. While the movie was more grounded and "realistic", the animated series took a heavy sci-fi/fantasy approach, featuring robots, aliens and even time travel. And it worked wonderfully because it was well executed. Perhaps this unproduced JP series would have had a similar feeling. As for the Chaos Effect toy line, as far as I know, it was never released in my country. But when I found out about it some years later, I liked the concept. That's why I accepted the Idominus rex and the Indoraptor with open arms.

That three-headed T-Rex/slug monster reminds me of something you'd see in like, "Heavy Metal (the 1981 adult-oriented animated film)" or "Akira." Definitely within the novel it was heavily rested upon that the dinosaurs were not dinosaurs but genetic creations. The movie adaptation pulled away from this a bit in going with the whole "life finds a way" suggesting it was all a lot more natural than it really was. I think most people just wanted real dinosaurs but I personally love the sci-fi element of genetic manipulation and the dangers it brings.

Personally, as someone who was born in 1990, and has owned every Jurassic film to date, and owned most of the toys, I loved chaos effect when it was being advertised. Also, the doomsday rex might well have been possible, considering that as strange as it sounds, there are genes that can cause conjoined twinning. A two headed rex with four arms is entirely within the scope of reality. Even that things size would potentially be possible, if it's body was engineered to be lighter than it looked and it certain growth disorders were engineered in. And back in the 90's I would have loved to see it. nowadays though, I'd pity it, not fear it. it would have been in so much pain and would potentially have so much hatred for the humans around it, that it would the indominus rex and indoraptor look pretty sane and tame.
