Lets quickly address safety. I don't recommend anyone turning charcoal. You need a respirator (which I had), and some way to contain the dust! I had both a dust collector and a full overhead shop air filter running. I filmed in short spurts, and this took me almost a full afternoon to turn as I keep the sessions to a few minutes at a time. Be safe, Don't try this at all.

I don't know if that's true for any "wood" turning. But if you do this be sure there are no sparks or open flames nearby. You can look up a lot of videos on dust explosions here on KZbin.

I thought the charcoal looked cool. Then I saw the lathe shaking and shaking and I thought it was going to blow up in your face. Then at the 12 minute mark I could see THROUGH the bowl as you were sanding it. Awesome. And then you turned on the black light. I salute you, Mister Brown! I think you were as surprised as we were. Wow. Hmm, have you tried a duct tape bowl? crumple up some duct tape and soak it in resin. Its got a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together...

With a little bit a effort you could make some nice little night lights. A small toddler would stare at that in the dark , and simple wonder how that happens, till they slip off to sleep. Or in an area at night to find your way around in the dark. I love it.

Which kind of cat litter, there are so many types made of various materials. One with silica might look wicked.

Clay cat litter turns slimy like mud, so I don’t think he would ever be able to turn it

The blue color on the charcoal could be oil residue that didn't burn off when they burn the wood into charcoal and the stabilising resin bought it out and and put it on the surface of the charcoal

Probably more the stabilizer than the oil. They make a point to use dryer types of wood in charcoal production. However I can't physically inspect the charcoal to verify that.

WOW! When you used the black light, it looked like the time I got to see plankton in the surf. At night it glowed in swirls like this as the waves hit the beach.

As is that chin décor, sir. Very impressive. I love it when bald guys have big bushy beards, lol. It's like a crystal clear example of compensating. Which may totally not be the case, idk of course, but it lOOks like that, so it's funny...ha.... ha what's that?👀 ...

First: A.MAZING. Second, I like that it’s a deconstructed diamond bowl. The main ingredients of diamond being light, carbon and pressure.

Love it when a new Peter Brown vid is uploaded. Great project, it’s great to see a classic dip it and lathe it. How can I get my hands on a Shop time sticker? I want one for my workshop (more of a shed). Keep up the great work. Cheers
