I would love to have a real car with a real engine but the UK adds Fuel duty then VAT to fuel making the fuel prices truly a joke and that is without our insurance doubling and tripling due to all the wonderful ambulance chasers claiming whiplash and other injuries without medical evidence. That's really cool Jeremy that you get to share a piece of your family history especially your dad's car. I wish I could share my dad's build it's a 05 STI Built by Crawford 500 whp he was racing a c7 in 2014 and the c7 hit my dad thank God we had a Cusco 6point cage and prodrive seat and harness's in the car and my dad walked out ok but the car was gone and the driver of the c7 was fine without a scratch but my dad had that car since 05 and went on 3 deployments and had Crawford TX build and tune it and he has footage of him slaying the tail of the dragon road course and many trophies he won at nopi nationals and The Travis Pastrana Drove and autographed my dad's car. Well when got the chance to get stuff out the car I grabbed my dad prodrive quick release steering wheel and I have it on my built Honda Civic as a momento of my dad everywhere I go. I am grateful for you to share yours with me thank you.

My best past. 1967 Chevelle SS. 400 Pontiac Big block Balanced and blueprinted ( top notch for the day, '73 or so) . Forgot which solid lifter set up but the idle makes your 'potato potato' idle seem like small change. TRi carb set up, 320 cfm in the middle, 2 500"s on the outside. Turbo 400 with B&M shift kit and 2500 stall converter and guts kit to stand the abuse. 3/4 ton truck springs in the rear and station wagon springs in the front to get the weight transfer needed. Pulled the wheels on the street with street tires (G50x15 I think). first to second shift point? 8300 rpm and this is no BS! Had to finish the quarter mile in second because the transmission would just give up ALL if I tried to go for third. Close to 9 grand. Never broke it at the strip! ALWAYS on the street going back and forth to work. Rear ends gave up the ghost downshifting with 411 gears. A 19 year old in my day sometimes didnt live very long. 350's in Vega's and the such. Big motors with no brakes and no handling, big ego. Look at what John Force did in 1975 and 1976! Now we have cars with so many different ways to control our hot rods its insane, and completely understandable! I would have been running 9's back then with all the tech!

The closest I got to owning a V8 swapped S10 was when I worked at a buy here pay here dealership and I was about to buy a 283 swapped 82 S10 that was done professionally because the engine looked like it came in that truck, but the old man that owned it gave it to his son and basically told me to keep my money. It was probably for the best because that truck ran well at idle, but it needed major upgrades because while it was fun to drive, it certainly wasn't fast by any stretch of the imagination. My boss had an old 65 C10 with an 800 HP 502 BBC in it that ran on Turbo Blue and THAT was a fast truck. He also had an 87 Monte Carlo SS that had the exact same engine in it and only 149 miles on it. The car was pristine, black with the red striping and he put lightning rod shifters on the turbo 400.

I love late C4s with the digital dash, or even the analog tach with the digital speedo. I would love to take one and put a serious 454 (if it'd fit), or a Nelson Racing Engines 408 twin turbo, or maybe make a ridiculous Sonny Leonard BBC into it with a 6 speed manual and a triple plate clutch. My opinion on this car? I love it, but I would definitely do some forced induction of some sort.

Very, Very cool! I have a soft spot for C4s. My father had an 85' that had a lingenfelter built 420. Sooooo cool to see another one. His was built for a supercharger (old, old Carroll Supercharging Paxton). His also had the Lingenfelter short ram intake, which had a huge box on top and short runners. It was not as hot as your father's car though, it only went 11:79 at 118 on drag radials. Love The Legend!!!

@@joecucch8261 Very cool Joe. One of our favorite streets for racing was Old Colony Blvd. We used to drive our cars from Cape Cod Mass to Epping NH to the track, borrow slicks from each other, uncork the headers, rejet the carb, race, then reverse the process, and drive home praying nobody broke anything. Thinking about it now we were nuts. The best I ever ran was a 12.84 @ 117 mph. Not very fast these days when cars are doing tens right off the showroom floor, but in 1979 when I built it , I had a lot of fun.
@joecucch8261

@Keith Lane; That's a good MPH for high 12s. I ran low 12s to high 11s but tried to keep it in the low 12 range so I wouldn't have to run Pro eliminator with those low 11 second sand baggers with a lot of money. My little 65 Nova usually ran 12.02 to 12.15 at 110 to 115 MPH with 9" by 28" slicks. I never got a time with my old 69 Camaro that had giant ford LTD mufflers and was super quiet with almost no back pressure on the street but I ran close to some cars that turned 12s at the track with it. Lots of fun !!!

Man this was awesome. Kind of brought back memories for me too. I can't wait to see more videos of the "Founding Father" Corvette, it's one of my favorite cars you and Cleetus have!

Don't let Cleetus drive it or let James near it with nitrous 😆😆

Alright, I'll take back the comment I left in an earlier video on this car about buffing the shine back. It is pretty shiny, lots of orange peel but shiny. Perhaps have someone put a good coat of wax on it? It is an aged paint job, it could use every bit of help it can get. Either way, great progress and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I always thought the "proms" was short for "problems". So it would be "Faster Problems", which Cleetus seems to have a lot of, Hahaha

Sounds just like my grandfather and I. Best childhood memories are him taking his road runner to the track. Wasn’t anything major like this but still fun.

I'm by far a diehard Mod motor guy but there is something absolutely awesome about watching you be able to work on your father's car. Let alone getting to see your son react to his grandfather's car. I wish only the best for you and your family. P.S. thanks for sharing the photos.
