In the P-15B class:- Electronic Warfare system, Gearbox, SONAR, Torpedoes, Combat Management System, IR suppression system, steel, ASW rockets, consoles, design, etc all completely Indian designed and built. Missiles are Jointly designed with foreign partner and manufactured in India. Main gun, CIWS, ASW rocket launcher all manufactured in India. Only radar and engines are directly imported. . In next generation Indian destroyers, other than the gas turbines and some parts of the IEP, everything else like radar, missiles, CIWS, etc will be completely Indian designed and built. Each of these sub-systems are already under developmental testing stage.

The INS Arihant class is almost complete, and the successor class has already been laid down. As they are not as huge as the Russian or American SSBNs they still provide a level of Hunter Killer capability.

My memory which may be incorrect is that Trump caused itel and satellite data transfer info to India. How much assistance this was I do not know. Franky it didn't seem that India needed any kinetic or troop help with China as Indias elite mountain troops did better than Chinas and US troops would have had acclimatization problems. Had China decided to go all in with land air sea while Trump was president I'm quite certain the US and Indian and Australian navies awoud have reduced Chias feet substantially. I'm also certain that the US air force would have joined Ibdias air force if necessary a ry. Sadly with Biden it is currently difficult to say what would happen. The recent insult to India by an intrusion unasked by India of an American destroyers not understandable to the average American.
@danydash316
@danydash316 3 жыл бұрын
@@josephfreeman3816 that's not the case even with trump, it is a US habit of abandoning allies, examples- afghan government, kurdish forces and we don't see a possibility US going to war with china for taiwan either nor for India to be honest because we were once at the receiving ends of US navy in 1971 when US 7th fleet and UK carrier strike Group under HMS eagle was in indian ocean against India after the bangladeshi genocide done by pakistani military then pakistan bombed india, started another all out war and still got the support of half the freaking world against India and US was tagging india as an aggressor, expansionist in the UNSC also US was pushing resolutions against india. That was an existential crisis for India and at that time russians stepped up their game ,they vetoed everything in favour of India and sent their battle group to the Indian ocean to help India and made a firm line of atomic subs and naval presence that actually stopped both the carrier strike groups and that war left pakistan surrendered with 93,000 troops "largest after world war 2" and Independence of bangladesh. That's how russians made their presence in India and US is still untrusted by most of the Indians. Believe it or not more than half of the Indians will choose russia over US but never china that's for sure and if russia chooses china then it's over for the russians too. But we do think that Australia and japan can go to war in case India goes into it because they need India in the Indian ocean as the dominant power along with that India has the capability of having a vast maritime information of the region in its naval fusion centres just recently a permanent british liaison officer has been appointed in that indian navy's fusion centre of the Indian ocean also maybe even a french officer was appointed some years ago. India will need US satellite info only for the nuclear exchange even that only for the parts of china which are near eastern end of china near the sea because we already have 23 satellites monitoring everything in the indian subcontinent and ocean for us. US is still supplying equipment to pakistan , some of which was found in the hands of terrorists that attacked India even mumbai terror attacks had a US informer involved, he was scouting targets in mumbai for pakistani intelligence and Laskar e taiba terrorists and he is serving a 35 year imprisonment for the lives of 160 people because he is a US citizen and an intelligence informer and cannot be extradited to India, if he would have been extradited to India we would have hanged him within a month. The Western alliance gave pakistan some 35 billion dollars of military and economic aid during the war on terror and where does pakistan used all of that money, to develop tactical nukes against India to be used as the first strike on battlefields. During the soviet afghan war, US sent money and weapons through pakistan into Afghanistan against soviets guess what happened after the war, those terrorists were sitting idle with pakistan getting more money they were turned against India in kashmir and do you wanna know how many soldiers we have lost? 6000 soldiers since 1980s to 2015 something and how many jihadis we have killed, it is well over a 100,000 on our soil. We can't deploy airsupport, artillery against them because the same US will start publishing reports about how india is using merciless force. This is the truth which we hate because it literally costs the lives of our well trained soldiers that are officially not into a war but still in combat every day. We are 8th most affected country by terrorism. We just do a partial trust on your government thanks to their own policies, they are going to sanction us again for S400s for sure even if the sanction will be minor because right now they can't afford to sanction India but still it will be stupidity.

I would say India should order a full second production run of the Visakhapatnam-class. With the PLAN being so aggressive India needs to have a larger number of high powered warships. And their lastest destroyer class fits the bill perfectly. Along with increasing the number of Frigates they are building as well. Maybe partner up with the other local powers to build more ships in India and other nations to sell and reduce cost of the navy expansion.

India needs over 40 destroyers and over 50 submarines 4 ACs along with numerous frigates, corvettes, missile boats and patrol vessels to ensure we are safe in the sea. By 2050 China plans to induct over 100 destroyers and submarines and India has to deny China the indo pacific if it wishes to survive. Naval budget should directly funded from the national budget and not the defense budget because that's how important the Navy is. The airforce and army can then share the defense budget amongst themselves and will have a greater and more appropriate share. Even the Andaman and Nicobar islands should be heavily fortified and armed. I think the P18 destroyers will be the appropriate size of destroyers for our navy and we should order atleast 10 of them before moving on to the next design.

It would be better if the IN would order a further batch of 2 more P-15B and design a further class of ASW dedicated frigates based on the P-17A. There the IN should try to build a class of 6 ships at the minimum with 8 being better perhaps in sub classes of 2,3&3.Naturally to make funds available for these important ships all pipe dream projects like LHD,15000 ton CG, CATOBAR carriers should be cancelled, cancelled and deferred respectively. What the IN could design is a 9000 ton CG with its main armament to be 24 x Brahmos 450 and it's VLS launching system designed such that it could also eventually carry the Brahmos 600 when it enters service. But rather like the Mogami class CL designed with barbettes that could carry the 2x8in guns in place f the launched 3x6.1in guns. We could more easily build such a ship and faster too. The need is for ships in service in number.

No. The Navy is doing good right now. Its time to move over to indigenous weapons and sensors for our next class of Destroyers. Project-18 will be larger, better and more powerful than all Project-15/A/B Destroyers. More importantly, the existing foreign sensors and weapons will be replaced by better Indian sensors and weapons:- . Israeli MF-STAR ------> DRDO LRMFR (in testing on INS Anvesh) Indo-Russian BrahMos --------> DRDO HSTDV-based missile (TD tested, missile in design) Indo-Israeli Barak 8 ---------> DRDO AD-1 (about to start testing) ---------------> DRDO AD-2 (in design) Barak 1, Shtil-1 ---------------> DRDO VL-SRSAM (in testing) Ak-630 ----------------> DRDO CIWS (mentioned in TPCR of Indian Navy) . EW, C2 and ASW systems are already Indian. In other words, Project-18 onwards, we can think of churning out large number of Destroyers because they'll have mostly Indian weapons and sensors meaning that they'll be more cost effective and the money will not be lost in foreign exchange.

@@death_parade Churning out large number of DDG & FFG is what I am afraid our yards have shown a remarkable habit of being able to do since the last 60 years. The P-17 is the 1st time we are seeing a marked improvement in build times, though even the P-15B showed great initial promise. The crucial delay happens during the fitting out stage and there your point if indigenous products being available might be able to help. But for all purposes both Brahmos and the Barakarar are our own products (specially the Brahmos) and more important reliable and proven. The DRDO designs show promise and must be developed further, yes but they are still at design & development stage. For them to enter service would take at least a decade further on. We cannot wait that long as the PLAN is increasing the lead over us inexorably. We need ships and aircraft now in the water and those ships which even now are equal to the Chinese. The P-15B & the P-17A are just those ships we need. Let us have them to hold the fort and see off the imminent Sino-Pak threat around our coasts. If we lose the game now it is over for us for the next generation at least. And the P-18 which is still another 12 years away from service will be of no use to us then. So the further P-15B and the new ASW FFG that I want will help us buy the time which will make the P-18 a really useful weapon for India when it joins the IN.

@@peterasp1968 Your gripe has nothing to do with shipyards, although yeah, it would be great if we had better build times, shipyards are slow in adopting modular construction. BUT, the major culprit in our slow shipbuilding process is the fact that we don't have the money. Navy's Capital Expenditure is around $5 Billion annually. By 2030, it will be around $12 Billion and only then will we be able to churn out more ships. . Many DRDO systems are already in operation on IN warships. The ones in testing right now will be ready by 2025. But the Navy won't have enough money to place an order for the Project-18 till 2027-28.
