I test drove a matco 4.0 this week and I was very impressed I did program a 2011 BMW footwell module it was better than my updated autel and I also have a snap on versus and I believe that matco really stepped up their game and after the test drive I will think about purchasing one this week this is a good scanner and this info is coming from someone who is been a mechanic for over 40yrs experience it is a good tool!!!

Take a look at the topdon you can add HD if you need it very reasonably and if you renew your subscription (much less money than Matco) it will renew the warranty so pretty much if you keep it up to date it’s always in warranty. Pretty much same scanner / software just MUCH cheaper

I've been looking at the Zeus scanner. But this looks so much better with the separate scope interface that, by the quick look that we got, looks like a PicoScope interface. If it is, it will be amazing! I use a Pico separate with a laptop and have a Snap On scanner. If this was both. Wow!

Just bought this scan tool last week, and my only issue with using it is you have to manually select each system to read codes instead of displaying all codes at once. Other than that this is a great scan tool and the Bluetooth battery tester works very well.

Wow that’s sweet. I like how it doesn’t turn into a glorified code reader if you don’t renew the subscription. Says it can key program with optional add ons and the VCI supports J2534 protocol. Does that mean the VCI can act as a JBox or is that an optional add on as well?

So when you buy one of these things, are all of the vehicle brands grayed out until you buy the software for those brands? Does it come with some brands, but not others until you buy software for them? If so, what is the approximate cost to buy the software for those brands? I know it’ll be different for each one. Just looking for a ballpark range of pricing to see if it’s worth it for me. I’m looking at one of these for Medium Duty and Heavy Duty trucks. I’m used to using shop supplied OEM software, but just got a new job, and learned that I really hate using Texa. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On some stuff. Obviously not Paccar engines since it requires DAVIE to do it. But most things yes. Same as diesel laptops for the most part on what you can do

Not great you can do some stuff but honestly if you are working on a Paccar, you need the DAVIE system to do most everything you actually need to do.

Emissions usually decrease efficiency. Try deleting it and properly programming one. It will usually be more fuel efficient and have lower emissions simply because it has less un burned fuel to have to filter.

I'm running a demo on it right now and can't for the life of me get this thing to connect to the dongle. Sometimes it'll connect and it works great, most times it won't connect without rebooting. Gone through multiple uodates/Android settings and cannot get it to reliably connect through wifi. I have a 3.0 and the Bluetooth connectivity never fails me. It says the 4.0 can use bluetooth...but I can't seem to find an option to switch it. It is pretty though

Matco's new diagnosis tool/scope is a great move for their company, but it still leaves a weird taste in my mouth that they continue to repackage other companies' products and services (Opus/IVS is company behind the diagnostic service and remote programming and the tool is the DrivePro ES but in a slightly different holder). It is obviously cheaper for Matco to do it this in instead of making their own diag tool from scratch. I do hope this new diag tool sells extremely well for Matco Michael and Mrs. Matco Michael! Btw- Opus/IVS is a company that many, many techs hold in extremely high regard. They seem to have the brightest minds in the industry.

@@KoonTrucking The prior tool was made by Launch but currently Launch does not make a lab scope. I think the DrivePro ES (which is made by AutoLogic) was based off the Launch system but I am not 100% sure. Also, the new Matco videos are showing the Opus/IVS staff so maybe they formed a business relationship for the new Maximus 4.0? The price Michael stated is lower than I expected, so it's a great deal if someone is looking for a new diag tool.

These scanners do not do it all! They are over priced by $3g's. Matco guys are great guys and they sell us good tools. But I'm tired of hearing about this over priced scanner being great. I have owned Launch, Autel, Snap-on, I-Scan, Autologics. I bought this scanner in December and I am having to continuously go back to my older Autel to program things. Software is the same as the $4g level one, just without the big voltmeter. So buy if you want, but know its not really the best out there, but probably the most expensive for what you get.

I work for Firestone and we just got a new scan tool. Its the new LAUNCH brand scan tool, and it is THE SAME EXACT THING AS THIS MATO. Same case, same accessories, same software, same support applications, the entire thing is the same. The only difference is the startup screen says MAXIMUS and the color of the menu screens are different...THE ONLY REAL DIFFERENCE IS MATCO WANTS 4,000 DOLLARS MORE FOR THE SAME THING! Launch makes this scan tool, MATCO PAYS EVERYONE TO MAKE TOOLS THAT THEY PUT THEIR NAME ON AND ROB THE MECHANICS OF THE WORLD THAT STRUGGLE EVERY DAY TO MAKE AN HONEST LIVING..JUST TO BE Scammed BY MATCO. PATHETIC!!!
