Thank you so much I had no idea what to do for Mother’s Day until I saw this video and my mom likes omelettes though sadly there weren’t any vegetables so I just made a plain omelette with salt, black pepper and some basil on top 🌿
@topochijo3 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favorite side dishes. My mom still makes it for me whenever I visit her. After all these years, she still sees me as a child, LOL (she's in her late 70s). I love her version of course, since I grew up with it. Using scallions and 김 (seaweed, nori) and some other veggies, it really hits the spot. All I need is steamy white rice, kimchi, and rolled omelette. Simple, yet perfect meal.

What is kimchi
@breezybest60642 жыл бұрын
@@gilbertmiranda5329 It's salted and fermented vegetables, most typically cabbage, and quite flavorful. It's also fairly spicy. It's usually eaten alongside most Korean meals or can even be the focus of the meal. It's very good for the gut.

This is such a good recipe. I usually make it as a main dish, with 1.5x or 2x the ingredients. I had extra time today, so I tried different vegetables. I used onion, spring onion, carrots, mushroom, 1 clove of garlic, salt and black pepper. I also swapped oil for butter - I used a good chunk of butter at the beginning so I didn't need to keep adding oil. Altogether

So good to see you and such nice quick, simple, versatile recipe!!! If anyone doesn't or can't eat eggs like me, obviously you can use an egg sub, but I made a chickpea flour version (1 part chickpea flour, to 1 part water or broth, and blended it well to get out the lumps and make it fluffy). Pour and cook (low and slow) just like the egg, it was yummy! (I did it on my Griddler so didn't have to keep adding to it. It was rounder but still yummy!)

I bought a cheap, but still decent, tamagoyaki pan from Daiso so that's an option that others might also find helpful. Tamagoyaki is basically the Japanese version of this and the pan is rectangular. Also, if you mix your eggs in a measuring bowl, you can pour straight from there in batches because the spout makes it easy. I haven't been putting onions in mine, but will try it. Thank you Maangchi!

But, I also make crepes a lot, and my crepes are very good. It never occurred to me that I could make an omelette like a crepe. It would be too thin, I thought. Not if I roll it. Maangchi - I've been following your channel for a while now, and I have finally subscribed. I have seen this rolled omelet technique for quite a few years, but your lesson was in a home kitchen setting, so that I feel I can do it as well. I'm pretty sure I will get it done quite delicately, and I will never forget the onion, but more as long shreds than chunks and I will add just a little bit of minced Pablano (Ancho) peppers, as well as the salt and ground pepper. I will also be adding the slightest bit of sour cream and cornstarch, as I have learned to recently, for very tender and flavorfull eggs of any scrambled variety. Again, thank you very much. I will keep watching what you offer.
