tbh armies never made me unstan bts i was army since 2016, even though they were already popular on a global level that time, they still didn't have that MUCH popularity so i never took what many of the baby or new armies thoughts seriously esp during 2021 or 2020 when people seriously thought butter was the best kpop release of 2021 the actual problem, is getting into newer group, mostly 4th gen fandoms because i feel that over the time, esp with how many younger audience are becoming kpop stans, kpop is becoming more and more toxic for example i was curious to check one enhypen because so so so many people were hyping them up, calling them best groups etc i mean its normal thing to do, everyone wanna hype up their faves, but the hype surrounding that group was just too much, and engenes were ruinning the experince i decided to not interact with anyone from the fandom or twitter or even watch fanedits, and i somehow managed to enjoy enhypen once again but i feel like an outsider since i know almost nothing, and just being a casual listener for that group

ikr this is what i've been saying. like personally, i don't think i'm a socially interactive person (online at least) that just has to interact with the fandoms i'm in, MANY times i don't even get any of the fandom jokes or anything that happens within fandoms because i just like the group/show/artist, etc. it's not the artists fault that they have toxic fans, but i also can't force anyone to stay and tell them to get over the toxic stans. i know a lot of people that really like involving themselves in the community they're in, and although i don't get why, i still respect that.

as someone who ults weeekly, i sadly agree with your opinion. i was super excited for a dark concept at first because i thought they were gonna go for a dark celestial concept, but instead they went for a kind of girl crush sound. i do love girl crush, but weeekly had such a refreshing image before and i kinda miss it ngl. (i’m still super excited for whatever they put out next, though, and k think it’s too early to say definitively)

@@bidisha4325 itzy has one of the more complex and hard hitting choreos out of most ggs, and so it's 1000x more respect for them singing live. as a non dancer, even i can learn most of aespa's choreos, and they're supposed to sing live that's their job, they've trained for years so it's disappointing when they lipsync like ALL the time. i'm sorry if it's not the girls choice btw, and if SM are the ones not letting them sing- maybe due to the fact that they don't have good stability and are trying to keep aespa's reputation clean, or if they just don't let them for no reason when the girls want to. but yeah, stan itzy ;0

I think I kinda agree with the 4th gen opinion. I am a die hard third gen fan. Groups like BTS, Blackpink, GOT7 and Twice are the air that I breathe. The only 4th gen groups I could tolerate were StayC, TXT and Itzy. But when Le Sserafim debuted .. Something about them just latched onto me. Fearless is totally my style and I can't wait to see how the group will grow over the course of time. I would've stanned them already if it wasn't for the scandal one of the girls has gotten herself into. I really hope she's proven innocent but until she is I would hold myself back.

I really felt that last point. you explained it perfectly because some people think you shouldnt unstan a group because of its fandom but as you said being a fan you also interact with other fans, so its hard to not come across toxic ones. that is actually one of the reasons why i unstanned bp, and it was easier to unstan them because i wasnt completly attached to them in the first place, like i am with bts,enhypen or txt

The last one, when i joined kpop in 2014, i was only into several groups, mainly B.A.P, BTS n E*O, but by then end of 2014 i completely left E*O behind becuz the fandom was so toxic and scary, i stopped listening to their songs by 2016-2017 eventho i had bought their previous albums🥺 Coming into 2020, i started losing interest in BTS becuz of their "mainstream" status, the fandom was filled with I-Armys both toxic and not, n new toxic Armys are so into gatekeeping that i've stopped actively calling myself an Army, i still listen to their new releases, n still consider my self an Army n a PJMs, but i am almost ashamed to tell others i liked BTS...my only pride as an Army was that i joined the fandom when they had yet to release HYYH and got super popular🥲 Now im still a fan of B.A.P (yes even after they separated), SVT, Ateez and WEi(somewhat nugus i guess? Even with X1's Yohan in the group)... and i just stick to my current fandoms but still gets "bullied" by toxic Armys 🥲

Ven Para is one of my favourite songs ever but it doesnt make sense with the rest of Weeeklys discography, the change of concept was to sudden, if they wanted to go for a different sound they shouldve done it slower because people liked them for the fresh/cute sound that actually looked unique between all of this girl crush

A rule for new kpop fans: if you hear everywhere that the fandom is toxic, don't interact with it. Be there for the group, but don't look up fan accounts or research drama. I made this mistake twice and one of the groups still reminds me of their toxic fandom too much to even check out their new music. But with one of my ults, i didn't have a chance of getting into the fandom for a few years and when I looked deeper into it, i found out that i don't want to interact with most of those people, so i never bothered to. Still stan that group since 2017

6:25 Literay me with SKZ. Before Stays come for my throat, I'd like to add that I was a Stay since Hellevator. Anyway, things got REALLY toxic in this fandom on the day they released "Noeasy". I guess I made a mistake joining Twitter right on the day after the album dropped cuz I really wanted to see people enjoying what I enjoy. As soon as I said that I wasn't feeling the b-sides that much(because the album was just released and some songs need some second listens for me to vibe with them), Stays literally got on my back and told me that I just don't have "good taste in music" and also told me to listen to "Cheese", cuz it's about me....??? And yall be so defensive for literally nothing, cuz I saw that it's always the Stays starting wars because of their superiority complexes. Like, I get it, the group is popular and all and WE love their music, but stop overreacting when somebody expresses their opinion, it's not givin'. Anyway, I'll always love SKZ's music, but sometimes artists miss, and it's normal. Not everyone is expert on switching genres and concepts.

For the project groups one: I honestly never felt that way since i started stanning temporary groups with ioi but a lot of my friends were like “yeah i don’t wanna stan bc they disband anyway” I understand the point but then this applies to every group tho. Even tho the time is limited for project groups, we never know how long “permanent” groups actually last. Best example is Hot Issue: they had their debut and first comeback last year and suddenly disbanded this April. I think with every group we should just enjoy the present moment with them & not think about “in ___ days they’re disbanding :(“

I can understand unstanning someone or a group bc of the fans but I couldn't see myself ever doing it, maybe it helps that I'm rarely on social media I only follow update profiles and I see Twitter threads and posts on Instagram but I'm not actually ever on twitter.. maybe I'm in a bubble but I've rarely seen many toxic armys, the only case I can think of was a homophobic army that was going crazy over the opinion that some idols including in bts *could* be gay, bc gay ppl exist everywhere, and another where they complained abt their wearing skirts, and one more that was comparing txt and bts, besides that I haven't found many but I have heard alot abt them and even tho sometimes depending on who I'm talking to, I can definitely be a little shy or embaressed to call myself one bc of the fandoms notoriousness, it's definitely not something that could somehow stop my love for the actual members and music, bc when I see them, I see them not the fans, and when they music show up on Spotify shuffle, I hear their top tier music and rap and vocals and think abt the amazing lyricism, not the fans. It is hard tho to get into a group when you've already met with their toxic fanbase first, bc then you do think abt the fanbase everytime u enjoy their content and I almost wanna not stan out of spite, this has happened to me w loona, blackpink and aespa, and even tho I have some of their songs, I keep seeing ranking and polls where for example they are given undeserving titles, like one asked a question pertaining to boa but 75 percent of ppl still chose lisa and I'm like 🤚🏽😭😭 yall

you can unstan for whatever reason you want. but i think you just said the actual reason a lot of people drift away from groups because of the fandom. y'all are getting most of your content from the fans & not the group. a lot of people stan fandoms & not groups then when the fandom becomes too much you leave. & tbh these groups put out too much content for most of the content you watch to be coming from other fans

for me, it’s the fact that if you want to be really up to date with a group the best way to do that is interacting with the fandom. if i wasn’t on twitter i wouldn’t know half of the things my groups that i stan are doing. so yes the groups are already putting out a lot of content, but the only reason i know all the content they’re putting out is bc of other ppl in the fandom.

Well with O.O the song felt like a mashup of two other songs with a really bad transition and beat drop. The only thing saving it is the girls talent but that still doesn’t really make it a good song. However it was a good showcase of their talent.

When you listen to it a lot of times you just get used to it. With my comment I was trying to explain that, just because you like the song now, that doesn't mean it's objectively better now. Umm the whole choreo thing BS. "They can't sing while doing hard choreo. BS. Kpop idols don't get the proper vocal training. That's the problem. They could get all these dance lessons but when it comes to vocals it's garbage. BS. There are vocal techniques to sing while dancing. One example, Wheein from MMM practice singing while running in place. Or the whole MMM trained singing while moving....so I am sick of people giving these groups and excuse. And it always the same excuse, "they can't sing while doing hard dancing" "it's hard to sing while dancing" blah blah blah bs. As much time they scout for "visuals" and how good they should look they have enough time to properly train these "singers" how to sing live. No more excuses

One opinion I'll take back is "Blakpink has a toxic fanbase". They actually have a pretty normal fanbase, but there's so many blinks around the world, which makes it look extremely toxic. Twice's fanbase is actually more toxic. Most blinks are extremely kind, there's just SO many blinks that make it so it looks toxic when a few are bad, because "a few" is thousands

ngl i think BTS has one of the most toxic fandoms but I think its kinda okeyish considering the large fandom ..with popularity comes hate so fans defend them (a bit too much at times ) and thus are called toxic … all the kpop fandoms are like equivalent fractions ( for example the bts fandom is 7/14 and maybe any other fandom is 1/2 but at the end of the day 7/14 = 1/2 .. all I am tryna say is the level of toxicity in most of the kpop groups is same but it seems more prominent and evident in bts due to the large numbers of fans
