In this video repair / refurbish my Razer Naga 2014 mouse.
Update - The mouse has been used for over a week now with no disconnects! A great, cheap fix!

i'd been dreading cutting, stripping & soldering (?!) the cable myself. tossed it into youtube on the offchance there was an easier fix 10 minutes & 6 euro later i have 2 parts being shipped from China that will save me having to buy a new naga. You sir are a legend

I can remember back in the day when nice were young,having to take them a part and reduce the led resistor value to increase the drive current so we could carry on using it. The led's would go dim and the sensors would be come intermittent. They cost about 1\2 a weeks wages each and the company had close to 100 or so. When they found out that I'd fixed mine I got a steady stream of dead or intermittent mice to fix each week. A year or so later price dropped and they became throwaway on the first glitches. How times change.

They are $180NZ for the new equivilent with the swap out macro keys. I just cleaned mine i though it was cable and was prepared for a re-solder to circuit board. Nice suprize when I opneed it there was a plug. Thought i would clean put back to gether if still not fix cut and re join the plug. But seems to be working for now with just a clean. I thought it was the cable as the mouse would glow but just stop allowing me to turn in games until i riggled the cord. Must have been just the fluff getting moved around that had built up over the years.

I have actually had the same problem for a while, though the circumstances are a bit different. I used to just have a problem with the mouse wheel (it would sometimes fail to register scrolling for one "click" and then move two on the next, and later on it even started occasionally scrolling the wrong way) and the middle mouse button (failing to register light presses even though there was the tactile click, sending two button presses to the computer for one actual click). I disassembled the mouse pretty much completely to find out what the pieces looked like so I could get replacement parts. It was some time after this disassembly that the mouse started disconnecting like in this video. Since then I came to the conclusion that I may have damaged the cable when I did so. Today I got the replacement wheel encoder. I already had a replacement MMB. It was also this day that I looked up information about the disconnecting issue and found this video. I placed an order for a replacement cable. I replaced both parts. While reconnecting the usb cable, I noticed that the metal leads inside the plastic header were somewhat loose. After attaching the plastic header, I used a pair of tweezers to push down on each metal lead - it was possible to push them down further with a noticeable tactile feedback. Obviously I can't tell if the problem has been fixed yet (and the replacement cable was ordered mostly in vain), but I'm hopeful the issue might have been fixed.

@@wrathpsp The problem kept appearing, so I replaced the cable a couple weeks later and now everything is fine. It's possible the cable could have been repaired with some glue, but it's also possible there was a break somewhere.

@@Althemor Oh I see. I'm thinking of ordering a replacement braided USB cable but they seem a lot harder to come by now. I can see them on Ali express but I don't really want to have to wait that long. There are some on ebay but they seem a bit more vague and generic in their description.

Had some issues with mine. I thought it was the USB cable it would stay lit up, but just can't move left right etc. Cleaned all the fluff and hair out seems to have fixed it for now. Thought I was going to have to cut and solder the cable. If no fix going to buy new cable as it is $180NZ for a new mouse.

sohey i did all of this and the new bloody cable seems to be behaving like your typical razr cable "about a month or 3 after warranty" "left & right is barely registering, untill i twist and turn the cable just right" any suggestions? wtfh :'(

The socket could be replaced with an off-the-shelf part but that would involve an element of soldering. Are you in the UK? If you are, I could possibly do it for you - at no cost. It would make some good content.

@@KrisCochrane That could be a shout, however I think it's a specialized board for it. Aye I'm in the UK too. I'll disassemble it tomorrow and grab a few pictures of the USB board. I searched around with the parts number on it, but all dead ends, will keep you updated!

Im interested in repairing my naga epic chroma. There's a curved plastic piece on the inside I'm having trouble identifying, and it's completely snapped multiple times. It fell out when I opened the body of the mouse. The mouse worked and I've since replaced it. But the left and right clicks sometimes act as if I have released the button when I'm holding it down. Anyone that can tell me what part it is so i can try to replace it please comment.

I got this mouse 2 days ago, me watching this video right now should tell you how I "like" it, the mouse wheel is the biggest garbage I have ever put my finger on... The other issues that I have with it should go away with time if I decide to keep it, maybe I'll break the pin at the mouse wheel..

I would take it apart and look at the moulding on the strain relief. Pretty sure one would fit.

my side buttons werent workign and when i took it apart the blue thing on the white strip was loose, any advise how to fix that?

Normally they are on a hinge. flick the little cover back toward you if you are looking directly down on the cable. The clip should flick back then just place it down again. There are videos on how to do this.

Exact same issue i just fixed. I completely dissembled it put back together after cleaning and it fixed it. (Mine was intermittent issue I thought it was cable as when i wriggled the cable it would work again. I think the wriggling was moving fluff around inside the mouse that had built up over the years.
