Great haul. When my mom passed away I got all her good silver and I figured I might as well use it on a daily basis.I cleaned it with silver polish one time and I use it everyday and I don't put it in a dishwasher. I wash and dry by hand and it is beautiful and I hardly ever have to polish it again. Why not use it, life is short. Use some good stuff. Thanks for sharing

You found some wonderful things! That chair is a Windsor style chair, probably old enough to be considered an antique ‘20s or ‘30s is my guess. The silver is a cool find, and the Pfaltzgraf Heritage dishes were a steal at $10! Good job!

1st of all, you are so adorable! I love all of your new finds,especially the blue patterned quilt. I think I have a bit of a quilt addiction. Even the wooden cheese box that the silverware is in, goes for some $$$$. How sweet of Grandma to think of you to hand her treasures down to. I know that you will love and cherish them! Check that it's labeled "sterling". It's worth more if so. You clean silver plate and sterling the same way.

We were limited in space in our first home. I used a clear shoe rack in my pantry for little odds and ends like season packets, fruit snacks, chip clips. Also, another clear shoe rack in the linen closet for toothpaste, tooth brushes, suntan lotion, bandaids. I love that you don’t take life seriously. That’s the way I live. I laugh at myself all the time 🥳

Use wright’s silver polish, it is the best I have found to clean antique sterling. And make sure you store your silver in a box with chalkboard chalk sticks, it slows down the tarnishing process. I loved your story about India. The reason you love the neutrals as you do, is that you are a “soft summer”. If you look up a “soft summer color palette” online all of the colors you wear will be there. Your soft cool features need to be complimented with the softness of your palette, while the deep rich complexions and dark haired ladies in India need the bright, deep rich color palettes of “deep autumns”. I love your hauls and look forward to seeing them in your new home.

Search “seasonal color analysis” and what season am I” on KZbin, websites and Pinterest. Don’t pay for an analysis because there are lots of free resources. Use your closet - you tend to wear the colors you get complimented on and you push those that are unflattering to the back of the closet. Good luck on your quest to find your season.

Toothpaste is a great & inexpensive way to clear silver. Interesting you mentioned you were in in India. Nearly 15 yrs ago we adopted a 5 yr old special needs daughter. i have a 3 tier hanging copper basket that holds my fruit & vegs. it looks pretty & the colors from the produce is very attractive. plus its hanging so it doesnt take up any counter space. like the paintings too.

Best silver polish product I have found is PEEK. It comes in a tube and lasts quite a long time. About $12 a tube. I have tried many but this product shines up silver, brass & an array of other metals. Thanks for sharing this video!

Kristen, the silver you found looks like my pattern: Chantilly by Gorham. Get a chest with anti tarnish felt in it to store. The pieces sell for $50-75 each!

Polish your sterling with a paste product - it is lovely to use. As for “winging it” - we all do! Please don’t think anyone has it all together - we are all human and nobody has a lock on this crazy journey we call life! Love all your finds! Those rugs you passed up looked like a good find too. One of my shoe holders like you found, I use to store my curling ribbon for gift wrapping. Works perfect in the back of a closet. Mine is actually behind my water heater door. I have to utilize all my space!

Those dishes are great and will go great any time. The silver is beautiful and if it is worth what one comment said, you really got a buy. If we have bins here, I don't know about them. Our Goodwills do not have anything as good as you find at the bins. Maybe the bins come here after everyone has picked over them, just saying. I just love your enthusiasm, it's contagious. You look good in the neutrals or probably any color but it's what you like, not anyone else. Your DIY should be your drawing. Anyone could paint and change up things but you have a real talent.

I’ve gotten 2 down duvets at the thrift stores…wash them on hot…good as new! You got some real gems. I too collect Pfaltzgraff Heritage, they look great in my breakfront (china hutch) and can be put in the microwave and dishwasher. The chair is a Windsor chair and it’s adorable!

I love the landscape. The horse painting is nice, but it almost looks like one of those paint-by-numbers. I always buy original art whenever I'm out antiquing or thrifting - if I can afford it! You never know when you may find a valuable piece!
