Loved this weeks video. A hint for the hash browns, add a good amount of oil to the griddle first. I love using coconut oil because it's great for high temperatures. The potatoes need the fat to fry up.

You have to par-cook the hashbrowns first to get the water out because that keeps them from frying correctly. You just put them in a paper towel-lined dish in the microwave and heat them for 2 minutes BEFORE you actually cook them.

the black stone reminds me of what is used in fast food restaurants. I would definitely suggest doing a mix of vegetable/canola oil and butter so that the oil can get hot enough, get some butter flavor, but not get things too brown too soon. Hashbrowns do take some extra time on the griddle and maybe a touch more oil. Hope that helps!

Hi Kristin! Your crispy chicken sandwiches looked amazing and exactly like ChikFilA.. yum. The blackstone looks like fun to cook on, you looked like a real chef! For the hash browns I was thinking maybe if you splashed a small bit of water on them and put a cover on them, they could steam a bit, and then maybe drizzle with oil and fry them up to finish. Love your videos!

Yummy stuff! For the hashbrowns, you need WAY more oil/butter (or bacon grease) and I probably would have hit them with a bit of water and a cover to steam for about 10 minutes. And way more seasoning. It was a pretty big bag of potatoes and they need seasonings. I prefer canned, sliced potatoes for frying over frozen too. Those pancakes were picture perfect though! Yum!

For the potatoes I always have the best luck with the shredded hash browns instead of the cubes. Tons of Whirl brand butter flavored oil (you can buy it on Amazon) and just let them crisp up before you flip. I agree those cubes are better in casseroles 😂
@ImOnyxRS2 жыл бұрын
I love my Blackstone. Hibachi style fried rice and stir fry are my favorites to cook on there but I use it for lots of things. Pretty much anytime you would just benefit from more pan space and don't want to cook in batches it works great. Quesadillas, steaks, pork chops, huge batches of breakfast food, you name it. Easy to clean if you season it right too. I would recommend picking up some sunflower oil for seasoning. It's kind of expensive but I have found it works the best by far, and you don't use much of it so one bottle will last probably a year. Edit: Also for hashbrowns, using either fresh potatoes or the shredded hashbrowns works a lot better. Those diced ones never cook right, I think it's because there's so much surface area the steam that helps the thicker chunks cook just escapes.

Hi Kristin! The meals looked fantastic! Those chicken sandwiches look easy …I’ve been thinking of trying to make a chicken sandwich. But my chicken frying skills well let’s not talk about them. Lol. As for potatoes on the blackstone I get simply potatoes. I find them in the refrigerator section usually by the eggs in my Walmart. They have shredded hash browns, sliced, & diced. The diced come in a couple of flavors but I like the plain the best. I also saw someone my husband watches (I’m sorry I don’t remember who) say they parboil their potatoes for use on the blackstone. I personally haven’t tried it but it looked like it worked well enough. Fresh potatoes I use a lid over them & some water to create steam to cook them faster. Hope that helps a bit. It was a bit of a learning curve for me on the blackstone. Honestly when my husband bought it I never thought we’d use it….fooled myself! We use it all the time! Have a great week!
