I paint in Acrylic, and have at night watched many artists, painting in oil, acrylic and water colour and charcoal. In this last hour, I’ve learned more from you, tan any one else. Thank you ! No ego, no “lecture “ no.. you MUST do it this way. … yes, thank you Sir.

This is by far is the best beginner oil painting channel on KZbin!!!!...if your frustrated with all the stuffy rules of painting and want to give up... STOP! Grab a paper towel and start painting its not that hard...Kyle is awesome and what I like to do is follow along with his painting just to get in the rhythm and learn, at the end I have an idea how to start and finish my own painting...100 thumbs up for me and he deserves it so show Kyle some love !....spread the word

Thanks so much for showing us how to apply this technique to something other than landscape. Although I realize your thrust is about plain air there are those of us who are unable to paint outdoors so seeing you paint a still life is very beneficial. .

I loved this video and the painting you did. Cannot wait to try this. Our weather is just starting to warm up and my daffys are just poking through the earth. Definitely going to try your method when it is nice enough to get outside. I think your painting looks so painterly which is a good thing. Thank you so much for sharing.

You have given me a new appreciation of painting in somewhat overcast days. Much can be valued when looking at local color in the fog. I am inspired to try using a shop towel for massing in values. ......probably will be a Hugh learning curve for me because I can lean towards detail at times. Looking forward to more videos. Thank you.

Wonderfully inspiration video Kyle. Very informative, I really like your approach. You are "Painting the feeling" of whats in front of you, not an exact replication. It is a very freeing style. Not getting caught up in all the details makes for a much looser application of paint. I try to do this myself but your steps in the beginning are a great way to get started. Thanks for the effort of producing these videos

It's very inspiring And fun to watch.

I started watching through and I am up to Demonstration #5...love, love, love your approach. Tried a plein air yesterday, but my "Bounty" paper towel left a residue on the canvas. So I'll try the automotive paper towels. You make perfect sense to me, just got to communicate this info onto my fingertips. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your joy and experience. Conveyed this information to others that I paint with and they are also following up with the demos. If you ever get to Martha's Vineyard, MA, you'll have some students ready.

Really nice work Kyle, like the way you freeform rough shapes. When out in the woods I use coffee grounds from my morning coffee to rough in shapes and get that real earthy tone in the base layer. Have you ever tried using natural products in your art, tammerin for yellow, paprika for red, blueberries for blue and grass for green etc. it's quite fun finding natural pigments this way. Cheers

I needed this! I become such a slave to the reference, that I forget the painting is what matters. What is the point of painting if it is true to the reference, but the painting can't stand on its own? Thanks!

I am curious, I see that many artists have the built up old piles of paint on their palette as you do..... Do you ever scrape it off?? Why do you let it build up this way? Thank you for all your demos!!!!!!

I'm curious about your palette. I've just started oil painting and I use a plastic resealable palette. I still find that my paint dries in the palette and I feel like I have to clean it out often. Do you just leave the paint always on your palette? How do you store it? What do you do when the paint dries?
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 4 жыл бұрын
I generally just clean the mixing area and let the piles stay. If there is wet paint there that I can still use the next time I paint I use it if it dries up I just put more fresh paint on top until I have to scrape it down and clean the whole thing.

Hi Kyle, a while ago you posted a great acrylic plein air video of three trees in your garden (you go into a lot of detail about shadow...how to use transitional orange between the green and the blue shadow, and also the reflected light on the tree trunks...I made a pretty fair copy of it based on your demo). it seems to have disappeared...it was really superb. Did you take it down? I can’t find it on your Patreon page or YT channel

Did you find the video yet Roger?
@triggerfish999
@triggerfish999 2 жыл бұрын
@@massiveactionresults no. If you search his video catalogue there are two acrylic still life demos …both v good…done outside. The other missing video was with them but it’s gone now. Shame, coz it was good. As it happens I made extensive notes in my sketch book and followed it and made a pretty good copy. But it contained some brilliant insights on how to capture shadow.

Thank you! I did take some content off of my KZbin channel this video is one of the videos I took down. This was done because of a contract that I now have with streamline publishing. I will be continuing to put shorter demonstrations on my KZbin channel and some longer content on my patreon page. I might repost this demo in a couple different videos eventually.

You are very talented and I'm learning from you, BUT you're wasting a lot of paper and it really is not necessary. Also, I was spending way too much time trying to shape the towel properly. Done with the paper, using large brush. Much much happier and better results.
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. The paper towel method is really just intended as a tool for beginners to learn how to use a large brush so you're actually on the right path by switching to the large brush. best wishes and happy painting!
