Awesome video I LOVE how you scanned through the disassembly process real quick without repeating your self 20 times and dragging out the intro for 15 minutes like everyone else does. Thanks so much.

I just finished changing out the fuel line on my Stihl 029, and your video was very helpful - thank you! A tip for getting the fuel line in position in the tank: lubricate the fat boss that seats in the tank w/ bit of Dawn dishwashing liquid. After sliding the new fuel line into the tank and attaching the fuel filter/pickup and rotating the fuel line in the correct angular position with the flat aligned with the raised line on the tank, slide a 4" piece of 3/8" ID high pressure fuel hose w/ a square cut end over the fuel line sticking up from the tank. Give the fuel hose a tap or two w/ a hammer or wrench, and the fuel line will pop into place very neatly.

Thanks for the video. My o29 super purchased in 98 finally has an issue. I've only replaced a sprocket in almost 23 yrs.

…mine’s close (I think) to being that old, and I now have to do the fuel line changeout. Can’t complain. My OEM is transparent though..?

Worth mentioning... because of the bends the fuel line needs to be properly oriented when installing for the filter to sit flat in the bottom of the tank. I was doing the same job as this while I listened. While looking through the gap to see if the grommet portion of the fuel line was fully seated I noticed that there is a raised flat on the tank that lines up with the flat spot on the grommet section of the fuel line to show proper orientation.

Is it possible to seat the hose by pulling with a needle nose or long nose pliers from inside the fuel tank? Havent started this replacement yet. Thanks. Very well explained video!!!

I’d just worry about ripping the hose

Nothing personal good sir, but there are those of us who change these without even emptying the tank. Procedure ..... Take off "back orange piece" ... take off air filter ... remove throttle link by 'clicking out of'' trigger extension, rotating it out of R side of carb ... take off carb nuts ... slide carb backward out of saw ... clean off old fuel ine ... push old fuel line / by grommet into tank ... push new fuel line into hole left by removal old fuel line ... reconnect and install carb ...turn saw on side .... use piece of "brazing wire" (or similar) with "hook" to "a) fish old line /filter out of fill hole ... use wire / hook to fish new hose to surface ... put filter on new hose .. use tie wrap arounf hose connection to filter ... fuel mix / oil ... go cut wood.... THAT SAID ... YOU HAVE TO WORRY A LITTLE ABOUT INFERIOR QUALITY RUBBER HOSES FOR THESE SAWS -- THE HOSE FOR THIS SAW TAKES A SHARP BEND AT THE BACK CORNER OF THE CARBURETOR.... LESSER QUALITY RUBBER WILL KINK AND CLOSE OFF... if this is happening to you, get a flashlight, see your trouble, get a better hose...

Thanks for the comment ! This was my first time replacing this and just wanted to share so other people could do the same . I appreciate your insight thank you .

been there you hit the nail on the head with what you said about lesser quality fuel hose. That's exactly what's keeping my 029 Super from running properly! No more cutting corners on the cheap stuff.

What brand carb is that and does it work good for you? I bought one that looks similar off amazon and it just wouldn’t right. I tuned it, turned it up and etc. didn’t run right at all.

I don’t remember which one it was . I just recently purchased a Huztl carb from amazon for my Stihl weed eater thing works great no issues

Thanks for sharing, the 029 super is a great firewood saw, they respond well to the muffler mod and also putting a .325 sprocket and chain on, then they really do hunt in the wood great - changes from a great saw to an excellent one.

Wish you’d gone ‘slower’ on the breakdown..maybe a bit. My 029 has thesame issue, never ANY issue with it prior. The line itself is transparent though..wonder why they made the CHANGE , whichever came 1st. Thanks, I STILL need to do it yet..

I worked at a Stihl repair shop and 85% of saws that came in as no start ended up being cracked fuel lines.

WHYthe carb change..? Have to replace the (transparent) fuel line after a ‘problem-free’ saw, no complaints on THIS Stihl..
@holdingcopsaccountable65543 ай бұрын
You need to use STIHL fuel line and not a aftermarket fuel line. Aftermarket kinks not allowing fuel though the line from the gas tank.

Forgive Repent no I cannot at this time . This was a repair for a friend and I won’t be doing another until it’s needed. I agree the video should have been slowed down more for the steps . This was one of my earlier videos.

If that was sold to you as OEM, you got screwed. Both the line removed and the new are Chinese cheap aftermarket. main complaint about those on some models is that the line is too long and rubs against the throttle linkage.
@KyleHallwoodworker6 жыл бұрын
Accumulator1 the line removed was original to the saw . The new parts have been working just fine OEM or not .
