How long do you think I should wait between coats of the mecha line paints?

Just minutes sir. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Depends on your weather.

Thanks for the tip I paint alot with Vallejo gaming and model color ( both are great paints ) but I have noticed that does rub off a little but will try letting the paint dry before each layer

Gaming is more durable... but Mecha is insanely durable once cured. ☺️

Now let's say a gunpla arm joint. The paint/clear coat always peels/rubs off for me no matter how long I leave it! Wondering if I'm doing something wrong or...?

The ball joints, will always rub off regardless of paint type bro. Thus, Vallejo Mecha Color has the exact color of most inner frames - Mecha Color Phantom Grey. Leave the joints unpainted, paint the other parts of the frame, and you won't notice the color change. :)

@@DonSuratos Ya, would love more comparisons between the two types of paint or why you'd use one over the other. You mentioned hard surfaces, but gunpla is mostly hard surfaces, did you mean large flat surfaces? but good start!

@@zergslayer69 Nah bro, I am an oficial Vallejo painter. It is not fair to compare too much as I have not painted with lacquers for a decade now. I mean hard metal and such... plastic is still plastic. Still relatively flexible. ;)

Nice and informative video for a newbie airbrusher! I chose water based acrylics (Vallejo) as a newbie simply because it's "non-toxic" and cleaning doesn't require harsh VOC cleaners. I intend to dabble in lacquers, but it sounds like I can stick to acrylics if I just learn to be MORE PATIENT haha

Surely you clear coat? My kits normally end up with at least 3 clear coats .. gloss after base, satin after detail, decals and panel lining, final coat after weathering and oils.

The Zoids toy I did not apply varnish / clear coat. But it was painted more than a year ago. I do clear coat / varnish a lot with Gunpla and miniatures. Also Vallejo Mecha varnish of course. :)

John Back I think, the plastic of the Zoids ( Takara Tomy ) is as flexible as the Vallejo Paint. I have been throwing this around for a year now, for demo purposes. If it was varnished, it should be stronger. ☺️

again thanks a lot don you demystify (i dont know how to write it XD ) a lot of thing for us , i started to think like a lot new comers that i absolutely need hardcore lacquer to go with mecha and scify thing and put the acrylic on the side , put day after day the table start to turn ^^ and in reality the 2 of them are extremely useful in different way and for different finish

Lacquers and Acrylics are just different. It's like comparing fruits and vegetables. Both have their strenghts and weaknesses. Lacquers are so easy for most as they need not add a retarder / flow improver. It has been maybe a decade since I used lacquer though. ☺️
