That was really interesting , especially the stuff about the difference between a sprinter , and more endurance riding. Be good to hear more about that. My personal lactate threshold is probably stuck around 2 Waitrose yogurts.

Another informative video. Quick Tip - When filming indoors switch your camera to 50hz and 25fps so that you do get flicker from the lights.

Super interesting video! I love numbers like this, but it's also filmed really clear and relaxed. Great content!

I'm like Kyle with my Heart Rate, makes me major anxious seeing it go high on max effort 😂 Enjoying these detailed UK Bike Fit videos though! Good to get a glimpse of what the pro life would be like

Good info throughout - minimizes the misconceptions about this first test. Also, Dan must be in shock over Kyle's capacity to abuse cleats.
@Neilhuny Жыл бұрын
I'd love to know the reasons for his shocking cleats - not properly tightened? wrong position - backward/forward or left or right? loose clip in pressure? What on earth did he do wrong?

Just riding a good load of hilly Audax will get you round Miglia Italia. Similar climbing to on the Bryan Chapman 600 except the mountains are bigger. APN will be a good step in the right direction. Good coaching will be even better. Good numbers for January.

Great video. How often will you need to retest for LT1 and LT2? Ive trained with power for a number of years, using FTP not lactate threshold. One thing I've learnt is you need to regularly test for accurate zones.
@HirdyGeneral Жыл бұрын
would love to know what my figures are... maybe one day. V interesting video though guys

LT1 will push up with headroom from lifting LT2 with VO2 work, but the big gains will be from z2 lt1 threshold work. I see some polarisation in your training plan! Good numbers though for just riding your bike around a bit!!

Interesting, so to increase your lactate threshold, train in higher zones(4-5) to boost your endurance, speed for longer rides?

Lactate recycles back to pyruvate and then give us more energy is this what the threshold is about? I need to research this.
@jimjamthebananaman1 Жыл бұрын
Anaerobic respiration is where glucose is broken down in to pyruvate and releases 2 adenosine triphosphate molecules. The pyrvate in the absence of oxygen is broken down in to lactate which when oxygen is present again will be turned back in to pyrvate. When people talk about flushing lactate out their legs then they’re actually talking about muscle damage, not lactate. When we undergo anaerobic respiration we can’t actually use all the glucose to make energy hence why lactate is used for an energy source which is in small quantities.
@bengt_axle Жыл бұрын
Is Lactate threshold supposed to be close to FTP (because it is done in place of it)? Or can a trained athlete have an FTP that is quite different than lactate threshold?
@rsam346 Жыл бұрын
I believe it should track fairly closely
@duathlete827 Жыл бұрын
Numbers tell me that Kyle works much harder than you do putting out a substantially higher effort but essentially achieving similar performance results. Work harder and less negative talk about loins being nick nacked etc. No excuses improve performance. You're doing great and I think your numbers are above average. Waiting to hear your coach say it at some point in the videos.

If I could arrest Kyle for riding with cleats in such poor condition, I would put him under the jail because in the jail would be too good for him! Sweet-baby jesus, those cleats were so bad!!!!! Cheers, Pjw

Unless your a top level cyclist this sort of thing is pure nonsense. Its why there are so few cyclists in the UK as every thing is sports oriented.

I'd say someone who does 1-2k miles a year is a leisure cyclist. Didn't Amy do 12k in the last year. I'd call that endurance or enthusiast!
